Chương 84: Kanima

"Hey! Lucas!" Before he could walk further, he heard Stiles calling his name. He only glanced at him, without saying anything. In no time, Stiles arrived in front of Lucas.

"Thanks, I couldn't stand being there one more second."

"Maybe you should have been tougher with him." Stiles glanced at his body, then shook his head.

"Forget…" The last thing he wanted was to get his ass kicked by a teacher.

"Are you still mad at Scott?" His tone was hesitant, although he asked that question. Stiles was more curious about the fact that he was a shapeshifter too. Glancing at his curious eyes, Lucas stayed silent for a moment. He was furious at first, but that fury faded slightly. Maybe he had a glimmer of hope that they could be friends, that's why he always helped them. But now it didn't exist anymore, only a conviction that those who would stand in his way would be his enemies. Lucas then decided to respond.

"Tell him that from now on, he should avoid me." This was the best decision he could make, staying around a saint who would always preach about another way, would affect his hunting. Stiles opened his mouth slightly, then closed it. He didn't know how to defend his friend, it was obvious now that Derek lied that a beta could return to normal if he killed his alpha. Just as they were having a discussion, Lucas glanced over his shoulder. In the distance, he saw Jackson glaring at him intensely.

This made Lucas surprised for a second, then he remembered what happened yesterday with Matt.

'It seems that even awake he is still slightly affected by the bond.' Noticing his amused expression, Jackson was stunned, and then he looked around in confusion for a second. This man became a monster, but this was the consequence of his actions. Lucas withdrew his gaze from him, then looked over at the silent Stiles.

"What happened?" Snapping out of his daze, Stiles glanced at him and answered instinctively.

"Last night we finally found Lydia…"

"Isn't that good?" Lucas finally knew why he didn't see Allison.

"Yes, but…" His voice sounded hesitant.

"…I think that something is weird about her." Lucas stared at him thoughtfully, he had to admit that Stiles was sometimes too smart for his own good.

"Maybe it's just your imagination, relax." Lucas didn't plan to help the duo anymore, that time had long passed. Now he must concentrate on his targets.

"Maybe…" While agreeing, Stiles was still thinking about Lydia. •••• School hours passed quickly, instead of going straight home, Lucas drove towards the center of the town. Parking his car, he then roamed the streets aimlessly. After some time, it was already dark outside. Just as he was walking into a dark alley, his ears picked up a sound not far away from his location. With little to no effort, Lucas climbed the building in front of him.

His silhouette could be faintly seen in the dark, jumping from building to building effortlessly. Soon enough, he arrived in front of a surprising scene, there was a lizard-like humanoid creature facing off against a trembling middle-aged man.

"Please…" the man begged, terrified by the creature in front of him. But what greeted him was only a pair of emotionless lizard-like eyes. In that moment, the man decided to run with all his strength towards the car. While he was getting closer to the car, the creature was only a short distance from him. Just as Lucas wanted to step in, he froze and hesitated. The man in question was Isaac's father, the bigger problem was that the man was a piece of trash.

Although Lucas hesitated only for a second, that was enough for the monster to close in on the distance.

"Arhhh!" Only a brief resounding sound of pain traveled through the dark alley, then complete silence, as if nothing happened. Lucas glanced at this sight speechlessly.

"Well… it was too late." After finishing, the creature looked around, observing nothing, it chose to leave, while unknowingly passing by the building Lucas was on. Glancing at its back, Lucas smiled, he finally tested the effectiveness of his camouflage ability. That was the biggest goal tonight. If he attacked the Kanima directly, he was not sure if he could keep it. •••• The next morning, when Lucas came to school, a surprise awaited him.

Just as he was passing the principal's office, his gaze froze when he saw who was inside. It was Gerard, who was now decorating his new office. When Gerard's eyes swept towards the door, he suddenly stopped. Glancing at Lucas, a smirk formed on his face.
