He saw a humanoid figure, except it had wings attached to its arms, deep green-colored skin, and a piece of garment covering its private area. The most notable thing was its big red eye in the middle. That's right, it had only one eye. The ears were as big as a hand and pointed upwards, looking strangely like a bat's ears. Its nose was basically nonexistent, with just two tiny holes, and the mouth of the creature was filled with sharp, pointed fangs.
Then a pungent smell hit his nose, making him cover it without hesitation. If he had to describe the smell, it was like the smell of rotten eggs and decay. In this situation, his super smell became useless as he felt like vomiting up his last meal. The creature's eerie red eye stared at him without blinking, then a smile formed on its terrifying face. Lucas frowned as he saw a glimpse of anticipation and mockery in that eye, as if the creature was waiting for his reaction to it.
Perhaps feeling bothered that he didn't have the reaction it wanted, the creature opened its mouth wide and gazed at him.
"SREEEE-EE-CHHH!"
"Ahhgg!" Lucas stumbled and leaned on a nearby tree. The sound pierced his eardrums and made him feel like something was drilling into his head. Blood came out of his ears as his eardrums were damaged just by the sound. Fortunately, the healing took effect, and he could already feel it.
"WHOOSH!" Before he could regain his focus, Lucas felt his feet leave the ground, and when he looked over, the humanoid bat-like creature had grabbed him and flown him dozens of meters into the sky. The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings. Just as he was about to attack it, the creature released its grip, and Lucas was heading straight for the ground.
"Fu*k you!" He pointed his middle finger at the creature as he descended without stopping.
"THUMP!" In the silent forest, the noise was startling and traveled quite far. Cracks were formed at the spot of Lucas' landing.
"Ughh!" He lifted his back slightly off the ground as a sharp pain came and went quickly. Lifting his body, even though the sound of his bones cracking was annoying, he looked at the flying bat. He was now in a deep dilemma. He had never fought a flying shapeshifter before. The Kanima could fly in its final form, but he never had the chance to fight that. He looked over at his car, which was now more than a hundred meters from him. He didn't even have a chance to take a gun, let alone his most important weapon.
Gazing back at the bat, he was sure that it wouldn't let him do as he wanted. The reassuring thing was that its mental attacks would not work on him, but its sonic attack was still effective.
"Run! Run! Keke! Run! Run! Keke!" The creature mimicked some words, and a huge grin formed on its face. Lucas' face became deadly serious. Studying the bat's face, he saw anticipation in it. It was waiting for him to run in fear, not even bothering to attack again.
'Could it be a creature related to fear?' He couldn't help but think of this instantly. The previous mental attack made him think of this possibility, and he couldn't help but think of the Nogitsune. As Lucas was taking his time to analyze the type of shapeshifter that was in front of him, the creature started becoming impatient and annoyed. Its prey didn't have the reaction it wanted. Even though Lucas smelled delicious, the smell of fear wasn't there. That was the part it had the most fun with, and he ruined it.
"SREEEE-EE-CHHH!" Lucas' eardrums felt like they were bursting again. When he felt the bat getting closer again, he swung his fist toward it.
"CRACK!" The bat flew straight back into the sky with more speed than it had come.
"SKREEE!" When he looked up, he could see the bat flying frantically in the sky. With his eyesight, he could see the creature covering its family jewels while still trying to remain in the air.
"Would you believe me if I said that it wasn't on purpose..?" He was flabbergasted by this creature's luck. If it was more unlucky, the creature could become the last of its kind. The bat didn't even look at him and landed on the tallest tree. He couldn't help but glance toward his own jewels and think that he should be careful in the future and protect them for the sake of his future generations. While the bat was distracted, Lucas quickly turned and ran toward his car.
Unfortunately, the bat was closer to the car than he was, and as soon as he moved, the creature ignored its pain and lunged down at him.
