"They are located on the edge of the town, in an abandoned warehouse." John stopped for a second and looked at Lucas. When he saw Lucas gesturing to continue, he spoke again.
"They are 20 people for now, I think there's more coming. Owen said that if you give the order, he could bury at least half in that building."
"Hmm." Lucas stroked his chin in deep thought, he believed that Owen was capable of that, but he wanted to give the hunters a chance to turn towards the light. Every dead hunter would mean their strength weakened as a whole against evil shapeshifters.
"No, let them all gather, then we will strike and wipe them all. I don't want every second-hand hunter coming every week to try and kill me." Lucas put his hands together and looked coldly at the screen. If mercy would not work, then he would just have to train enough hunters to replace them. •••• In the building that they were talking about, the hunters could be seen talking and some taking care of their weapons. What they didn't know was that every move they made was watched by Owen through the scope.
Suddenly, a man walked in the middle and brought everyone's attention to him.
"Tonight we will cleanse this city of the evil Alpha, once our comrade, now our enemy." He then opened his arms as if expecting some applause. Contrary to his expectations, only an awkward silence remained in the air.
"Shut the fuc*k up!"
"Who said that?!" The man looked around, but he couldn't see the one who spoke. One muscular man in the front looked at his companion and spoke.
"I have a bad feeling about this… Lucas Ashford faced the Alpha Pack and killed them all, should we…" This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there. Although he didn't continue, the other hunters present understood his meaning. Some of them were visibly tempted to just run away, 30 million dollars is a lot, but that's only if you live to spend it.
"No!" The man who tried acting like a leader shouted.
"It's too late now! Tonight it's going to be the Lunar Eclipse, we will easily kill all the werewolves!" All their plans would collapse if he didn't do something, just thinking of the consequences made him shiver.
"David! Are you sure that Lucas Ashford is a werewolf?" One of the hunters looked suspiciously at him.
"Of course! We even asked the Argents!" David solemnly promised, only he knew if that was the truth. Night settled over the sky in the blink of an eye, and the Lunar Eclipse was about to shine on this little town of California. As time passed, more and more hunters gathered, till there were 50 of them. Suddenly, David received a text. When he saw the message, he smiled and looked at the other hunters.
"The target is moving, let's go!" Soon all of them got in the cars and drove for a couple of minutes before arriving deeper in the forest. When they stopped and got out of the cars, the hunters were already feeling suspicious. Why would Lucas drive into the middle of the forest? Just as David was wondering this too, he heard footsteps and soon the man that everybody wanted a piece of walked straight into their sight.
Everyone's body tensed and they all pointed their guns at him, Lucas was now red all over from the lasers.
"I'm here, now what?" He focused his gaze on David, whom he presumed had something to do with his bounty.
"Was it you behind all of this?" Before David could respond, Lucas took a better look at him, then shook his head.
"No. You don't seem that smart." He then gestured towards the forest. David gripped his rifle harder as his hands started sweating, his expression darkened as he understood Lucas' meaning. Just then the full moon shone on all of them, and David smirked and started laughing.
"You are just a helpless lamb now! The sins of your family will be paid with your blood!" Lucas ignored him and focused on the moonlight hitting his skin. He felt like a foreign force was trying to suppress his power, but just as it came, the force quickly subsided. He then focused his gaze back on David.
"Tell me who is behind you."
"I'll pass! I will just kill you!" He then pointed his gun straight at Lucas' head. The other hunters were ready too.
"You must have forgotten something…" Lucas took a few steps back, making the hunters dubious about what he meant. He then looked behind and made a gesture with his finger.
"This is Beacon Hills!" The moment he spoke, David and many other hunters had a red light on their foreheads.
