"…I saw you die!" Lydia trembled as she remembered what she saw, then slowly started recounting the fragments that appeared in her mind.
"You…were lying on the ground…blood was seeping from all around your body. I-I…couldn't tell if you were breathing anymore." Lydia fell silent as she couldn't continue anymore.
"It's alright…" Lucas smiled and stroked her back to calm her down, as if he wasn't the one who would supposedly die. Lydia calmed down and took a deep breath, continuing to speak about what she dreamed.
"On the ground, there were some strange symbols, everything around was dark, although strangely… I think I saw snow for a second." Lydia then stopped talking, she tried hard to think of anything else, but she got nothing. The image of Lucas' body kept appearing in her mind, and a tear ran down her cheek. While Allison was hugging her and comforting her, Lucas was looking at the ceiling in a daze.
No one knew what he had in mind; the corner of his lips moved slightly, then he glanced back at the girls as if nothing had happened.
"Don't worry, the vision only allows you to see a part, not all of it." He reassured both of them, as he could see that even Allison was starting to get worried. But what could he do? To achieve something, you must lose something else. As silence remained in the room, Lucas took the chance to study his new ability; when he saw what it was, his eyes lit up. It was called shadow teleportation; like the Oni, he could teleport larger distances if there were shadows nearby.
Although it wasn't as instant as Allison's ability in close combat, his teleportation could cover a larger area. Just as he tried feeling his ability better, his expression suddenly darkened as he couldn't activate it. If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. The ability needed the source of power that the Oni came from; he immediately thought of the Kitsune.
Its power was basically the fuel; the Kitsune broke her tails for this, but it seemed that it didn't come with the Oni included. He could feel that he could activate it forcefully, but that would lead to the ability disappearing forever. Lucas shook his head in disappointment and stared down at the floor. The image of the Nogitsune appeared in his mind; he was sure that it could be a good alternative. •••• While Lucas was thinking of what to do, the hunter community was hit by a wave of terror and shock.
This time, there were other hunters who could vividly describe the massacre that took place in Beacon Hills. In Lucas' base, where Steven was in charge, the hunters were slowly starting to move back, curious about what really happened. At the underground bar sat two people drinking and talking; one of them was the exact person whose face Lucas had painted with the leader's brains.
"I'm telling you! He didn't use any superhuman strength! He played with us and divided us from the very beginning, turning us against each other." He drank a bit more, drowning his sorrows, as from that day on, whenever he looked in the mirror, he couldn't forget the pieces of brain that he had on his face. The man kept nodding while being more occupied with getting the free drink.
"So he's not a shapeshifter?" The one telling his story froze and looked at him.
"Are you fucking stupid?! Didn't you hear what I've been saying for the past hour?!" Just as they were about to continue, they saw Mary coming and posting something on the wall.
"Hey, Mary! What's that?" Ronnie, the one telling the story, asked curiously. Mary ignored him for a few moments and made sure that what she posted looked good, then she turned around and looked at them.
"A bounty!" She then tapped the number with her finger. The two approached swiftly; when they saw how much it was, they gasped in shock. It was ten million dollars.
"Is it for Lucas Ashford?!" The alcoholic one looked at the post in greed, then at Mary; he was dreaming of how many drinks that money would buy. Mary frowned and looked at him with disgust.
"Jerry! You retired old fart! Did you forget who owns this place?" Jerry coughed and looked back to see if anyone had heard them.
"That's not very nice, did you forget that I watched you grow up?" Mary raised her fist at him; just as she was about to wash him in insults, Ronnie quickly stepped between them.
"You two are acting like children! Mary, tell us what the bounty is for." Mary looked away from Jerry and glanced around.
"If you two weren't discussing your tragedy so passionately, you would have heard the others already talking about it." The two glanced back simultaneously and saw all the other hunters with the bounty in their hands and with excited smiles on their faces.
"It was done by Lucas; if you manage to point him to the mastermind behind the attack, this money will be yours."
