In that moment, it was as if only the two of them were standing in the hallway. They stayed in that position for a couple of minutes. After some time, Allison lifted her head slowly and whispered:"I've missed you!" He gently stroked her face.
"I've missed you too!" Not bothered by the glances from the students, they both made their way towards his car. After arriving at the car, Lucas turned towards her and asked: "Did something happen?"
"Yes… my mom and my dad told me to stay away from you… and they seemed even more worried once my grandfather came into town." Lucas nodded slightly. Surely Kate told Chris about him being a shapeshifter. And if she knew, Gerard will definitely find out. He wondered what Gerard's next move would be; that old evil bastard will surely do something.
"Just be careful of him, but it seems that something else is bothering you."
"Last night, Lydia went missing from the hospital…" Her voice was full of worry; she couldn't imagine how Lydia would survive naked and alone in the freezing night. Lucas became thoughtful at her mentioning of Lydia; he still hadn't thought of what to do with her. He still comforted Allison, telling her not to worry too much.
"Let's go." Lucas opened the door for her and made a gesture with his hand.
"But…" She was hesitant, especially with her parents' hostility towards Lucas.
"Don't worry, they will not hurt me." Lucas spoke with a certain confidence in his tone. Allison rolled her eyes at this; she wasn't worried about him getting hurt, she was worried about her parents trying to do something stupid. This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it. Eventually, she caved in; it was better for her to be involved when Lucas confronted her parents.
•••• Even though she was standing in front of her door, for some reason Allison felt nervous. Seeing this, Lucas put his hand on her back, making her emotions stabilize. He didn't believe that Chris would be so unreasonable. Just as they stepped into the living room, the loading of a gun was heard, and a big silver gun was pointing directly at Lucas' head.
"Dad!" Allison stepped in front of Lucas without hesitation. While he stared, speechless at this sight, he was quite wrong. Chris was not as talkative as he imagined. Lucas then pulled Allison behind him, even though Chris would not hurt his daughter. He had seen too many cliché movies.
"Why are you in my house?!" Chris coldly gazed at Lucas as if he was some monster. Then he turned his gaze back to Allison.
"I thought I told you to stay away from him!"
"Dad…" Allison didn't know what to say; it would be impossible for her to stay away from Lucas.
"What's going on here?" Hearing this voice, Chris' pupils shrank. Then he watched as Gerard made his way towards them.
"It seems we have a guest!" Gerard wore a smile on his face, as if happy for this occasion. Only Lucas could hear his heartbeat speeding up, sensing a wave of hatred, longing, and fear.
"You must be Allison's boyfriend, nice to meet you!" Gerard smiled, then extended his hand towards Lucas. Lucas gazed coldly at him, without even bothering to pretend that it was all good between them. He had no reason to mask his emotions towards this kind of human trash.
"A feisty young man indeed." Gerard retracted his hand without his expression changing. He still tried to pretend that he was just a caring old man.
"But if I may ask… what gave you the courage to enter this house of hunters?" Although he still kept the smile on his face, Gerard's tone became sharp. Lucas chuckled at his courageous words.
"Courage? You speak of courage?" He sniffed slightly in Gerard's direction.
"I can smell the fear, hatred, and greed on you, Gerard, so don't speak of courage in front of me!" Gerard's eyes narrowed at Lucas' obvious disdain towards him. He gripped his hands behind his back tighter. Allison didn't say anything and stayed by his side. Her feelings towards her grandfather were not good at all. He was the one that ordered Kate to do that horrible thing. Although this didn't excuse Kate's actions, Gerard was the one that turned her into a monster like himself.
Chris kept glancing at his daughter; although his expression was cold, his heart felt like it was stabbed. His daughter clearly chose a side, and it wasn't their family.
"You remind me of your grandfather, young man!" Gerard's smile slowly started to vanish at the mention of his grandfather. What was left was his venomous expression. Perhaps this was his true face, not the amiable persona he carefully displayed. Lucas sneered at his mention of his grandfather.
"My grandfather didn't finish the job, but he left a gift, didn't he?" He glanced mockingly towards his chest.
