Chương 64: Confrontation

While Lucas was feeding Malia, Allison was in trouble. Victoria crossed her arms and looked at Allison with scrutiny.

"Where have you been?" Allison stared blankly at her parents; she didn't even care if they scolded her. Chris frowned as he observed Allison. He felt that something was not right; his rigid expression lightened slightly.

"Honey… are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Allison waved slightly with her hand, then looked back at her mother.

"Can I go now?" Victoria frowned and prepared to scold her, but before she could do that, Chris stopped her. Then he waved for Allison to go upstairs. After seeing her leave, he turned towards his wife.

"Something wrong with Allison, didn't you notice?"

"Do you think that something happened?" Victoria then glanced thoughtfully towards Allison's room.

"I don't know, but I might know someone who does." •••• Morning came quickly for Lucas. He didn't even have time to eat breakfast when someone knocked on his door. A surprised expression appeared on his face when he saw who it was: Chris Argent.

"We need to talk." Lucas glanced at him for a moment, then made way for him to enter the house. When they sat down at the table, Lucas signaled him to speak while he had breakfast.

"Did you break up with Allison?"

"Gough! Gough!" Lucas choked on his food when he heard this. He hurriedly drank some water and looked at him weirdly. Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon. Seeing his overreaction, Chris knew that it should be another reason.

"Then tell me, why did my daughter look so devastated when she got home last night?"

"Because her family is full of psychopaths."

"What?!" Chris' eyes widened at his response, then his expression turned cold. Lucas was not bothered in the slightest by his glare and continued speaking:"Kate." When he heard his sister's name, Chris' pupils dilated.

"What did she do?!" Lucas leaned on his chair, then observed Chris's constantly changing expression with interest and replied with sarcasm.

"She showed her unicorns…"

"What else do you think that she could possibly do?" Chris' fists clenched together as he realized his meaning.

"She's still too young for this." Lucas didn't comment on this. If the world was not so dangerous, he too wished that Allison could lead a normal life, but she was born as an Argent. Chris took one more look at him, then got up. Lucas followed him to the car. Before Chris could get in, his voice stopped him.

"I have a warning for you. You should keep your sister in check." Chris turned his head slowly towards him, narrowing his eyes.

"Or else what?" Lucas' back straightened as he gazed coldly at him.

"Don't forget that the Ashford family doesn't hunt only monsters, but even those in human skin."

"Hmph!" Chris glanced at him, then drove away. Lucas turned around and looked at the sky.

"The final hunt is getting closer." Peter is the first major obstacle; although in the future his threat will pale in comparison with what's to come. He knew that Peter sooner or later would get tired of playing games. Although he was defeated by some teenagers in the original timeline, Lucas can't afford to relax. If Peter suddenly goes crazy and kills Scott, this would have a massive impact on the future, and frankly speaking, Lucas didn't really want to be a superhero.

As he grew stronger and stronger, from initially just wanting to survive, he now has someone to protect, and if anyone tried to hurt her, his morals would vanish. Suddenly, Lucas looked in the distance. Staring at him with a smile was the same person he was thinking about. Peter approached closer, now only ten meters away from him. His aura was menacing, as if trying to intimidate him. Lucas observed Peter closely, then smiled; maybe his problems can be solved today.

"What a pleasant surprise!" Peter's smile remained on his face, but his eyebrow twitched slightly. Lucas is the first person that he couldn't smell any fear towards him. As if he really meant those words, Peter didn't know if it was his imagination, but he felt greed coming from Lucas.

"Tell me where's Derek, and don't lie." His expression turned cold; as if Lucas didn't answer correctly, he would kill him. Lucas gazed at him curiously, eager to know if he had the balls to act.

"How should I know? Shouldn't you be taking your pills by now?"

"You really don't value your life!" Visible veins started appearing on Peter's forehead; his eyes started glowing with a violent red, and his claws slowly started getting larger.
