Chương 42: Secret Revealed

"Sanguine et Silentio." Lucas muttered those words as Allison looked at him expectantly.

"Is it Latin?" He nodded. She tried to figure out what it meant, but gave up.

"It means…" Lucas then told her the translated version.

"By blood and silence." She looked thoughtfully at him; she could understand some of the meaning, but still asked:"Does it have a deeper meaning?" Lucas thought for a second, then responded to her.

"It means the price we pay for being a hunter. We take a life when needed, but we don't live for this, and we don't talk about it." One word came to Allison's mind: 'sacrifice'. She could only hope that her family's was the same. Then they continued talking about some hunter knowledge. After one hour, Allison looked at her watch reluctantly.

"I have to go." Lucas nodded, then they made their way to the car. Not long after, they arrived in front of her house. She looked at him teasingly and asked: "What, you're not parking your car some distance away?" He pinched her cheeks while replying: "They're going to find out eventually, there's no point in hiding." He could care less if Chris and Victoria found out; he is not Scott, any action towards him will have consequences. She leaned in, giving him a kiss.

"See you tomorrow."

"Aren't you going to invite your friend in?" His voice was slightly lower, as if trying to control himself. Allison stared right into her father's eyes, gathering up her courage, and replied to him:"He needs to go home, and he's not my friend, he is my boyfriend." Chris's finger slightly twitched. Looking at his daughter's determined face, he couldn't help but stay silent. He then turned around and left the room. As soon as he left her sight, Allison breathed a sigh of relief.

Not giving her a chance to relax, her body tensed as her father's voice sounded from the other room.

"Invite him for dinner tomorrow night." Allison was left in silence, not knowing if it was a good sign or a bad one. She could only go to her room, pondering this. Morning came quickly. Allison was seen waiting outside for Lucas to come get her. She felt more at ease now that her parents knew about them; she could now spend more time with him. While in thought, a car arrived in front of her. It was Lucas. She quickly went in and gave him a brief kiss.

As they were driving, Allison remembered something and told Lucas:"My dad invited you for dinner tonight." Lucas looked at her slightly surprised, then he nodded.

"I'll come." Although Chris's face is not that pleasant, he doesn't mind doing this for her. Lucas then observed Allison, who seemed happy about this. His lips raised slightly, then he focused his eyes back on the road. They quickly arrived at school. When they got out of the car, he noticed Scott and Stiles talking. Stiles spotted him and waved at him. Lucas and Allison made their way towards them.

"We need to tell you something." Stiles looked around as he whispered. Then he looked hesitantly at Allison.

"It's about that stuff." He said as he gestured towards Scott. Allison looked at them, not knowing if she should stay. Lucas raised an eyebrow hearing this.

"She knows, so you can say what you want." Scott's face changed when he heard this. He raised his voice as he asked:"You've told her that I'm a werewolf?!" Allison's eyes widened, not expecting this kind of reveal. Everyone was silent, while Stiles observed Allison's face. He put his hand on his forehead after seeing her reaction.

"Buddy, I think you just told her." Scott stared blankly at Allison, then at Lucas.

"Stiles is right."

'At least this time you told her the truth in time.' Lucas could only think this in amusement. Allison, on the other hand, was not amused at all. She grabbed his arm slightly while looking at him. Seeing her worried face, Lucas spoke, reassuring her:"Don't worry, he is just a teenager with hormone problems, he's not gonna hurt anyone." He paused for a second, then looked at Stiles and pointed:"Well, except for him." Stiles looked around, then pointed at himself in disbelief.

Lucas nodded as he watched his theatrics.

"Geez, well, thank you for your kind words." Stiles could only respond sarcastically, glancing at Scott from time to time. Noticing his glances, Scott's face darkened.

"Stiles… I'm not going to hurt you." He whispered through his teeth.

"You sure?" Stiles pointed at his face in doubt. Scott turned his face away from him, not wanting to speak anymore. Seeing this funny scene, Allison's tension eased. Lucas briefly glanced at her; a corner of his lips was raised for a moment before disappearing.
