It seemed that Peter started acting again. Not getting involved last night was a good decision. Unless he has to, it's better if Peter doesn't know about him. Right now, his attention is on Scott and getting his revenge. While thinking about all this, Lucas felt Allison gripping his hand harder. He looked at her, seeing a glimpse of worry in her eyes. He gently stroked her hand while looking into her eyes.
"Don't worry, I'm here." Allison looked at him. Seeing his reassuring expression, her nerves slightly calmed. She then asked, "Do you really think that an animal did that?" Her suspicious tone sounded like she was thinking of something else entirely. He looked at her and responded honestly.
"No, it's most likely a werewolf." Hearing this, her eyes widened. Even though Lucas told her about the other side of the world, it still felt unbelievable hearing that werewolves were real.
"Werewolves… like in the movies?"
"The real werewolves are divided from lone wolf omegas, to betas with a pack, and finally the alphas. Even then, there are differences in strength." He spoke as he remembered one particularly strong Alpha. She raised her eyebrows hearing his explanation.
"Are they as strong as real ferocious animals?" Hearing this, he gave her a smile before answering.
"It depends. Omega and beta werewolves can lift anywhere from 900 kg to 1, 800 kg. An Alpha, on the other hand, is in a league of their own, starting from 4, 500 kg to even 9, 000 kg." Her mouth opened in shock. She was expecting something unnatural, but this was beyond her comprehension. Not giving her time to digest what she heard, he continued. A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
"Besides that, the speed of a beta could even reach 70 km/h. An Alpha is almost double that speed." These statistics were more from what his family gathered than from him knowing the show. He didn't read the hunters' books for no reason. Allison looked at him in complete silence, not knowing what to say. Hearing how strong werewolves were made her panic. What if she faced this kind of beast? The only fate she could think of was death. With its strength and speed, even running was a luxury.
She broke from her daze as she felt a warm touch on her face. It was Lucas. Every time she looked into his eyes and heard his voice, for some reason, it calmed her down.
"Don't worry, I'm not saying these things to make you afraid. It's so you won't stay in the dark and do reckless things." After calming her down, he continued.
"If anyone wants to hurt you, they will have to pass through me first." Allison looked at his confident expression, then curiously asked, "Then what about your strength?" He was slightly surprised by her question, then he thought deeply. He hadn't really measured his strength yet. Before killing the skinwalker, his strength could be compared to that of a regular beta. He felt the difference between his first hunt and his second. His first kill was only a beta werewolf, and he fully absorbed the werewolf's strength.
But with the skinwalker, it was different. He only got the obsidian armor and some basic attributes like strength and speed. He attributed this to potential. That's right, potential. A beta could never be compared to a near-immortal skinwalker. Although it was immortal only in its sacred place, it was still one of the best shapeshifters in terms of strength. Lucas had one more theory. It was based more on a feeling he had gotten, that he didn't just absorb the creatures he hunted, he devoured their potential.
But he still hadn't confirmed this theory.
"Lucas!" Allison shook his shoulder. Seeing him in a daze, she was worried for a moment. Lucas broke from his train of thought and responded to her previous question.
"I never measured my strength, so I'm not really sure. Just a little above the norm." Allison looked at him with a puzzled expression, wondering what "a little above the norm" meant. He smiled, ignoring her confused look. They walked through the hallway toward their lockers, while Allison looked at him from time to time, hesitantly wanting to ask something. Sensing this, he looked at her.
"Tell me, what's bothering you?" She stared straight at him, her face hardening as if making a decision.
"Can you train and teach me?" He raised his eyebrows slightly at her request. Although it wasn't unexpected considering her original fate, that was when she desperately wanted to become stronger. Maybe revealing all of this to her made her afraid and want some form of protection. She briefly closed her eyes while waiting for his answer. The only image flashing through her mind was Lucas' body covered in blood. She clenched her fists with hatred for the creature responsible for that.
She recalled their first meeting and all the moments they shared together.
'I will protect you.' Allison vowed in her mind. Lucas looked at her strangely. He understood her being a little nervous, but not why she closed her eyes as if waiting for judgment.
"I will." He only uttered two words, but they brought joy to her face.
