As soon as Lucas entered the hallway, he was greeted by a noisy corridor full of students. As he walked past them, several people glanced at him, especially the girls. Well… at least this body isn't bad, Lucas thought to himself with a slight narcissistic smirk. He continued forward and entered the school office to register as a new student. The process was quick, so he left and headed toward his classroom. When he opened the door, the teacher looked up.
"Ah, you must be the new student."
"Yes, I'm Lucas Ashford," Lucas said with a slight smile.
"You can choose any seat you want. Not all students are here yet," the teacher replied. Lucas nodded and walked inside, sitting down in a random seat. He leaned back slightly, looking around the classroom. Still hard to believe I'm actually here… he thought, staring out the window. A few moments later, another student entered the classroom. It was a girl. Lucas recognized her immediately from the series — Allison Argent. She quietly sat down near him.
As she placed her things on the desk, a pencil slipped from her reach and fell. Lucas picked it up and handed it back to her.
"Here you go," he said calmly.
"Thank you," Allison replied with a warm smile.
"I'm Lucas. Lucas Ashford."
"I'm Allison… Allison Argent."
"You must be new here," Lucas said. Allison looked slightly surprised.
"Yes… how did you know?"
"You have a different presence," Lucas replied.
"Different from the people in this town." Allison nodded slightly.
"So… are you new too?" This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author's consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.
"I came here about a month ago."
"I see…" For a moment, Lucas looked at her a bit absent-mindedly, noticing her smile and the small dimples on her cheeks. Before the moment could continue, the teacher started speaking again.
"Ah, look who we have here Mr. Scott McCall. Late again?" The classroom shifted attention as another student entered. Lucas immediately focused on him. Scott McCall. This must be after the bite… So he's already starting to feel it. Scott walked in quickly.
"Sorry, I missed the bus," he said.
"Just go sit down," the teacher replied. Scott went to his seat. As he sat down, his eyes briefly scanned the room. Then he noticed someone new, Allison first and then Lucas. Lucas studied him quietly. So this is the beginning… Scott finally looked back at Lucas. Lucas gave a small smile.
"Hi, I'm Lucas Ashford. New here." Scott snapped out of his moment of distraction.
"Hi… I'm Scott McCall. Nice to meet you."
"Must've been a rough morning," Lucas said casually.
"Yeah… something like that," Scott replied. As they talked, the teacher continued the lesson. Eventually, both of them stopped focusing on conversation and paid attention to class. Time passed. The school bell rang. Students immediately stood up and started leaving the classroom. Lucas got up, and Allison did the same. They walked together toward the lockers. At the lockers, Lucas placed his books inside while Allison did the same nearby. For a brief moment, they looked at each other. Allison smiled.
Lucas smiled back. Then they separated and walked in different directions. A few hours later, classes ended. Lucas packed his things and left the school.
"Boring…" he muttered.
"I thought I'd never come back to school… and now I've got to do this a couple more years." He rubbed his head slightly.
"And in a town like this… I'm going to need more than patience." Outside, it was already dark.
"Good thing my house isn't far," Lucas thought as he walked home. The streets were quiet. Strangely quiet. As he walked, he suddenly noticed something in the distance. Near the forest edge, a figure was moving. It looked strange. Slow. Unstable. Almost like "it" was injured. Lucas narrowed his eyes. Something felt off. As he walked closer, he noticed more details. Too much hair on the sides of the face… unnatural movement…
"…No way," Lucas whispered. Has he…? Don't tell me I'm this unlucky… meeting a werewolf already? The moment he focused on the figure, something inside him reacted. A strange hunger. A pressure in his chest. His heartbeat increased sharply. Then— Information flooded his mind in fragments. Lucas gasped slightly, holding his chest as he tried to stabilize his breathing.
"So… I really do have something." His expression changed. It was not that of fear. But interest, and joy"…Not a system. But it seems to be something like a predatory ability…" He looked at the figure again.
"So that means… it's supernatural creature." He slowly start's to understand. His ability was tied to hunting… evolution… taking power from other supernatural beings. As he calmed down, excitement slowly replaced the confusion in his head.
"Well… at least I have something to rely on," Lucas muttered. He focused again on the figure, which was now entering an abandoned house near the forest. Lucas memorized the location carefully. Then he stopped. Not yet, he is not prepared to face it. After a moment contemplating, he turned around and walked straight home.
