Night passed by quickly. Lucas was now meditating on his bed. With the skinwalker's spear in his hand, he was trying to see if he could connect with it somehow, so that it could return on its own to him. Lucas frowned as he breathed out a chunk of air.
"Failed again, or maybe it's just wishful thinking." Then he shook his head.
"I will try again later." Lucas then got up from his bed while his thoughts flew back to what happened last night.
'Did I become colder with time?' He thought of his attitude towards Derek, then denied that thought.
'It must be my imagination.' Lucas glanced one more time at the spear before heading to pick up Allison. After driving for a few minutes, he arrived in front of her house. Allison was already outside waiting for him. She waved at Lucas with a smile on her lips, then entered the car.
"I've missed you." Allison then eagerly gave him a kiss. Lucas was a bit flabbergasted by her enthusiasm.
"It's not like weeks passed since we last saw each other." Allison smiled at his response.
"I know." In truth, she felt like her whole world was crumbling. The reality she once thought existed was not so real anymore. Shapeshifters, her parents being hunters, and worst of all, her aunt, whom she deeply loved, might be an evil person. Her house felt like a cage full of lies. With Lucas, it was different, it felt like she could breathe freely. Not being completely in the dark, and having someone she could trust to tell her the truth. She then focused her attention back on him.
"By the way, was Derek saved?"
"Yes, I managed to get there in time." Lucas briefly responded. Then he focused his gaze on her, his face turning serious.
"Don't think that shapeshifters are weak just because of what happened. If you meet a werewolf, you need to run as fast as you can." She gazed seriously at his face, then nodded heavily.
"I understand." Observing that she took his words seriously, Lucas smiled.
"If you know that I'm nearby, you can shout for me, and I will hear you." Lucas then concentrated on driving while Allison kept gazing at his face in a daze. While still looking at the road, Lucas spoke to her.
"From today, we will start training."
"Yes!" Her eyes were filled with joy when she heard this. School hours passed by quickly. Allison and Lucas had now arrived at the shooting range.
"Raise the gun higher, and don't lower your head." Lucas instructed Allison, lifting her arms up slightly.
"Bang."
"Bang." Allison focused on her target and fired. This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
"Good. Remember, if you shoot a werewolf with a normal bullet, he will likely heal. Focus on the heart or the head. You must anticipate where he's going to dodge because they have tremendous speed." Lucas put his hands on her shoulders, supporting her as he instructed her on hunting. Suddenly, his ears picked up some footsteps approaching them, then a deep voice echoed slightly through the range.
"I'll be damned, Lucas, you're trying to steal my job?" A tall man walked in with a muscular build and messy hair. Lucas raised his eyebrows, then responded.
"John, I'm just teaching my girlfriend how to protect herself." Then John came closer and shook his hand. He briefly observed Allison, then nodded.
"Not bad. Maybe you have a future in this." Lucas rolled his eyes at him, then turned towards Allison and introduced him to her.
"This is John, my firearms instructor. He's former military, so he's good at his job." Allison observed the man, then shook his hand.
"I'm Allison, nice to meet you."
"All the pleasure is mine, young lady." John smiled, then turned his head towards Lucas and spoke.
"I put in an order for what you needed. In a couple of days, it will be here." Lucas nodded and replied.
"Thanks, John." John nodded, then left. A couple of peaceful days passed by as Lucas and Allison trained every day, from diverse firearms to bows. Now tired from a day of training, they were lying on the couch in Lucas's house. While looking at the TV, Allison glanced at the watch. Seeing it was late, she turned towards him.
"I need to go home. I'll call my dad to get me, so you can rest." Lucas shook his head, then responded.
"I'm not tired, but you can take my car." Seeing her wanting to say something, he put the car keys in her hand. Once they were at the car, Lucas handed her a wooden box. When she opened it, Allison looked at him in surprise. It was a gun. Lucas smiled, then explained.
"It's for protection. The bullets in this gun are coated with wolfsbane." Allison looked at the gun for a moment, then nodded. She gazed at him one more time, then took off. As she was driving, she could see the school when suddenly a car stopped in the opposite direction.
"Allison!" She heard the person in the car calling her. When she drove closer, she saw it was her friend Lydia.
"What are you doing here?" Allison asked, perplexed while observing her. Lydia rolled her eyes as she pointed towards Jackson.
"Jackson said he had forgotten something at school, but the school is closed now, so we came for nothing." Jackson looked thoughtfully at Allison, then nodded. It's not like he could tell them that something attracted him there. Before they could continue talking, some noise came from the school in the distance. They looked at each other in silence, then Jackson spoke.
"Let's go take a look." Hearing this, Lydia was shocked.
"Are you crazy?!"
"Don't worry, we'll just take a look." Seeing him being so persistent, she could do nothing. Lydia then turned towards Allison with pitiful eyes.
"Allison, you know you're my best friend, right?" Allison smiled at her theatrics, then thought for a second before responding.
"I'll come with you." If there was some kind of danger, it's not like she could leave her friend alone. Then the two cars drove off, quickly arriving at the school. As Jackson got out of his car, he couldn't help but glance at the one Allison was driving. Observing his glance, Allison explained.
"This is Lucas's car."
"Your boyfriend, right?" Lydia interjected as she observed the car. Allison nodded while observing the school. Jackson's face, on the other hand, darkened when he heard Lucas's name. He stared at Allison's face intently before Lydia's voice brought him back to reality.
"Look, there is a car there." Allison looked at where she was pointing.
"That's Stiles's car." Then she surveyed the area before quickly spotting the opened door. She pointed for them to see.
"I'll go and take a look." Jackson stared at the dark hallway, then added.
"Are you crazy? You're not leaving me here alone."
"Fine, then you can come too." Jackson then started walking towards the door. Lydia panicked for a second, then grabbed Allison and dragged her with her, following Jackson. Allison looked helplessly at Lydia. She didn't even say if she wanted to go. The three walked carefully through the hallway, then they heard loud footsteps in the distance. They looked at each other, then walked in that direction. As they entered the room on the right, they saw who was making the noise.
"What are you guys doing here?!" Stiles was startled seeing them. At first, he thought it was the monster chasing them.
"We heard some noise from the school, and then we noticed the door was open. What's your excuse?" Lydia kept glancing at the two of them suspiciously.
"We…" Before they could answer, loud noises kept coming from the ceiling. Scott looked up in panic and shouted.
"Run!" Then he and Stiles sprinted. Allison looked at the ceiling in shock and started running too. Lydia and Jackson followed right behind them in panic. Then a tearing noise echoed through the hallway as something big landed on the ground and started chasing them. While running, Allison glanced behind them. There, a terrifying figure was getting closer with each step it took. Her heart was racing fast, then all of them entered the room in front just in time.
In panic, they placed everything they could grab in front of the door.
"Guys." Stiles, on the other hand, kept calling them. They ignored him as they continued putting everything in the room against the door.
"Guys!" Now Stiles shouted louder, bringing everyone's attention to him.
"Now what should we do about the twenty-foot wall windows?!" He gestured with his hands, displaying the big windows behind him. They huffed heavily as they stared at him in silence. Then Jackson approached Stiles.
"Call your useless dad now!"
"No!" Jackson looked at him in confusion.
"What does that mean, no?" Stiles stared at him while gripping his phone.
"No. You want it in Spanish? Nooo!" Losing his temper, Jackson tried grabbing Stiles's phone. Stiles struggled, then punched him right in the face.
"Jackson!" Lydia shouted in shock. Allison looked at Stiles in astonishment for a moment, then nervously focused her gaze back on the door. While keeping his head down, Jackson sneaked a glance at Allison. A flash of disappointment went through his eyes. Before they could think about this further, the door started violently shaking. Huge noises kept coming from behind it as a resounding roar echoed through the school.
Allison's body trembled slightly, her eyes closing for a moment as she listened to the unsettling sounds.
