Chương 51: Aftermath

After a few moments, Allison calmed down. When she lifted her head, she realized that his jacket had claw-like marks on it.

"Are you hurt?!" She tried lifting his jacket, but Lucas quickly stopped her.

"Don't worry, it's just the jacket." Observing his chest and seeing no blood, she breathed a sigh of relief.

"Great, now that you two had your moment, can you tell me what the hell happened?!" Jackson's patience ran out as he saw them hugging each other. His voice was visibly irritated. Lucas turned his attention from Allison to him.

"I saved your life, that's what happened. You don't deserve more explanations." After saying that, Lucas ignored him. Jackson's life was the least of his concerns. This response made Jackson even angrier. He took a few steps forward and raised his voice.

"What was that thing? You need to tell us!" Everyone's eyes rested on Lucas now, awaiting an answer. Lucas, on the other hand, was unbothered by their looks. He looked at his spear, then lifted it off the ground. With light pressure, Lucas slammed it into the floor. The noise made Jackson swallow the words he wanted to say.

"I don't need to tell you anything!" Jackson flinched under Lucas's gaze, his hands clenching while avoiding eye contact. Standing next to him, Lydia observed Jackson's reaction. A subtle hint of mockery was hidden in her eyes, but when she looked at Lucas, that look changed into something else. Lucas observed Jackson's face, then, as if finding something interesting, he spoke again.

"It seems that somebody already put you in your place." He shifted his gaze toward Scott and Stiles. This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author's consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. Noticing his gaze, Stiles nodded.

"Good job." He then took Allison's hand and started walking away.

"Wait, did that thing really leave?" Scott asked hurriedly, looking around as if the Alpha could jump out at any moment. Lucas turned his head toward him, then responded:"It will not cause trouble for some time." Then he continued walking away. Looking at his back, Stiles shouted his own question:"Until when?" Without turning around, Lucas answered coldly:"Until I kill it." In the back, everyone stared at each other before following, not wanting to stay another second in that place.

Arriving outside, everyone looked relieved. Soon, sirens were heard approaching—police cars and an ambulance. Some time passed, and Lucas was now being questioned by Stiles's dad, the Sheriff.

"So let me get this straight. You just happened to come to school with a spear and fought off the animal that was chasing them?" The Sheriff pointed at Stiles and the others. Lucas affirmed with a nod.

"So what was it?" The Sheriff observed his face, waiting for an answer.

"It was too dark, so I didn't see it clearly. When I injured it, the animal ran away." Lucas then showed the spearhead, blood visibly staining it. The Sheriff nodded as he stared at the spear. A deputy reached his hand toward it.

"We're gonna need it for some tests." Before he could touch it, Lucas pulled it away, giving the deputy a cold look.

"I don't need to hand you anything. You can take a sample of the blood, or just get lost." The deputy was stunned by his answer. Before he could respond, he felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Okay, that's enough. The kids have been through a lot tonight." The Sheriff then shifted his gaze back to Lucas.

"You said your name was Lucas, right? Thank you for saving Stiles." Lucas nodded while observing the school, looking for something. After the Sheriff walked away, Scott and Stiles approached him.

"Dude, you injured the Alpha?!" Stiles looked at him in shock as he recalled that monstrosity chasing them.

"It's not gravely injured, so you two still need to be careful. Now tell me what happened." Stiles looked at Scott, then started explaining. He recounted how Derek kidnapped Deaton, Scott's boss, and how the Alpha appeared, possibly killing Derek.

"If his body disappeared, then the chances are that Derek is still alive. As for your boss, you just need to see if he has an injury on his neck. That will confirm whether he's the Alpha." Lucas then left with Allison toward the parking lot. Suddenly, a shout came from the car in front of them. It was Chris.

"Allison!" He quickly hugged her, then panicked as he checked her body to see if she was okay.

"Dad, I'm alright. Lucas saved us in time." Chris observed Lucas for a second, then his pupils dilated when he saw the spear.

"Thank you." This was the most honest expression Lucas had ever seen on his face.

"I will not let anything happen to her." Chris stayed silent at his promise. Before, he didn't have a good impression of Lucas, but now he realized that it was only his prejudice at work. Lucas had never done anything to his family. Now, he had even saved his little girl. The debt he owed was tremendous.

"Let's get you home now, sweetheart." Chris spoke softly to Allison before walking back to his car. She looked at her dad, then turned her gaze toward Lucas. Allison leaned in and gave him a kiss. After their lips parted, she walked away under his gaze.
