The inside of the cave was smaller than Long Feng expected. It was just the size of a room. There were stalactites extending from the ceiling and a single sword shaped stalagmite on the ground. The entire cave emanated a solemn aura from every inch and Long Feng's mind became calm the moment he stepped in. He looked around silently and took in everything visible in the cave. Apart from the sword shaped stalagmite, there was nothing else… save for some blurry writings on the far end of the cave wall.
"What exactly is this ancient sword legacy remnant? It's so… ordinary." He muttered. Long Feng slowly walked towards the wall till he could see the writings clearly. The words appeared to be carved on the wall using a weapon, most probably a sword. The calligraphy was exquisite, giving off the feeling of an unfettered person, a person who wasn't bound by the world, by any rules. A person who followed his heart and did whatever he wanted without hesitation.
The words written on the wall made Long Feng fall into a trance. They read;"Disdain the heavens… Disdain the world… Disdain all laws. A blazing will to slaughter the heavens… Who is honored?" They were carved casually. Even from the carving, he could already tell some of the personality of whoever wrote it. Yet at the same time, he sensed extreme loneliness which he couldn't pinpoint exactly. Perhaps it was just his mind. He didn't really understand what this sentence meant, nor why it was written.
The heavens was above all, supreme. The heavens was the epitome of righteousness and fairness. That was what everyone learnt as they grew up. Why would someone disdain the heavens? Who would want to slaughter it? He didn't know. What he did know was that this single sentence contained profound enlightenment regarding the sword that he couldn't hope to understand. This was more than energy. This was a profound realm of 'heart', something far beyond him.
He looked down at the writings below and he was instantly lost within them.
'Solitary Sword, ruthless indifference at heart.'
'Sovereign of Myriad Weapons, overlooking heaven and earth.'
'With an Unyielding Will, peerless across all realms.' Long Feng's heart literally froze as he read this. His soul seemed to depart his body and enter the writings, a world which the eyes couldn't see. This world was suffused with a sword energy beyond anything Long Feng had ever sensed. Not even the sword energy of the Firmament Sword Saint in the memory fragment was so perfect. It was indifferent, ruthless, calm. Unshaken by the collapse of the the world. This was the Solitary Sword!
The aura of an emperor amongst weapons, one that calmly stood at the apex and overlooked the world, the heavens and the earth. All life was insignificant before this sovereign of myriad weapons! A will that surmounted anything imaginable. A will that couldn't be shaken by a billion thunderbolts. A blazing will to slaughter the heavens… that was truly invisible. Nothing could stop such a will. This… this wasn't just ordinary writings. These were the core laws of the sword!
Long Feng's heart shook as he drowned in the complex insights within the words. Each of the three sentences posseses a different type of sword energy, and each of them had true heaven shattering might. If he could understand 1 -no, 0. 1 percent of these three sentences, then he would attain a brand new level in his sword path. The firmament sword art used to be the limit of the sword to him. Old Man Solitude had taught him the mysteries of the sword.
But before these three sentences, both the Firmament Sword Saint, his Firmament Sword Art and Old Man Solitude appeared like fireflies before the moon. Enjoying the story? The sword was a blazing will that could overcome everything! Long Feng held a sword. He comprehended it in his own way, but… he wasn't ruthless. He wasn't indifferent.
And his will most certainly wasn't blazing. The way of the sword was more than just swinging a sword around with some sword energy. One would never have much attainment. The Dao of the sword meant to be an absolute ruler, ruthless to oneself and even more to to enemies, indifferent to everything and leaving no obstacles. It meant to be the absolute law, to replace all existing laws. The sword didn't follow rules. It recreated them. The sword rewrites all laws, redefines reality itself.
A single strike to sever everything. Once the sword was swung, nothing must exist. That was the pride of the sword. Life? Dao? Time? Emotions? Laws? They would all cease to exist. The Firmament Sword Saint had actually touched upon this concept. When he fought against the giant demon, he was losing. The Firmament Sword Art which he was most proud of wasn't able to shake the enemy. Right before he died, he had a sudden enlightenment. He lifted his sword one last time and everything stopped.
Time ceased to exist, space collapsed, all laws vanished, the heavenly will was replaced by the Firmament Sword Saint's will! That was the final move he created, the Circle of Firmament, which was something Long Feng had never been able to understand. Today, he was beginning to understand that terrifying move. Ruthlessness meant slaughter. A murderous aura that could engulf the heavens yet remained controlled. The sword existed to replace the heavens. That was the path all true swords.
Not to follow the heavens, not to follow laws, but to rewrite them. Both the heavens and the laws. Long Feng's heart shook as he came to a realization. He closed his eyes and sighed.
"I… understand." This was what Old Man Solitude was searching for, the ultimate Sword law. Unfortunately, he never understood it. Even the extremely powerful Firmament Sword Saint only understood it slightly just before he died. Now Long Feng was able to comprehend this elusive concept even before he formed his intent. It was a luck that could make the heavens weep.
"I've been doing everything wrong. I follow all rules I am told, taking them as the only right path. They say I am weak? I accept it. They said I lack talent? I still accept it. Someone takes my things? I do nothing. I already diverged from the true path without knowing."
"The sword heart is all about defiance, not acceptance. To defy the heaven, to disdain it. To defy the world, to disdain it. If I don't like something, I erase it and rewrite it. The world must submit to my rules, not the other way round." He completely understood now. His eyes remained closed while he kept standing. A strange wind whipped up his robes and his hair, giving him a mysterious countenance. His mind was completely empty and the only thing he thought about was the three sentences.
He engraved them into his heart, his soul, including their unique sword energies. He carved the sword laws into his flesh. He slowly comprehended, unknowingly surpassing the limits of sword concept. Sword concept itself represented having minor understanding, a tiny concept that wasn't with mentioning. Intent on the other hand was the true starting point. It represented true understanding of a unique path. If Long Feng wanted to comprehend Intent, then he needed to have full understanding of the sword.
He didn't know where to begin from previously, but with this inheritance, everything cleared up. His sword energy completely dispersed. Within a few minutes, he was completely devoid of sword energy. This was the one final challenge. In Long Feng's mind, there were many pieces of metals. Each of them appeared to be part of a sword at a glance, but they were shattered and separated. Long Feng stood before these fragments and slowly tried to merge them back into a sword.
He worked slowly, having no concepts of thoughts or time. After a while, he stepped aside and stared at the sword he formed with a frown. It's appearance was exactly the same as the sovereign sword, the first sword he ever wielded. But somehow, he felt that something was missing. This wasn't the sword in his heart. Waving his hand, he shattered it again and began merging it together again. Some time passed and he was done. Floating before him was the perfect Origin Spirit Sword.
There was no difference at all even in aura. But… this wasn't it. Long Feng shattered it again and stood there in a daze. This was a rare moment of enlightenment. If he was able to make use of it, he would definitely comprehend sword intent, not just rudimentary intent. But if he failed, he would need to find another opportunity which would take heaven knew how long. But at this moment he was utterly lost. The Sovereign sword wasn't it… the Origin Spirit Sword wasn't it… what was then?
In his daze, an image suddenly appeared in his mind. He didn't know where it came from and it seemed to have awoken from the depths of his soul. He moved his hand like he was possessed and began to merge the fragments, slowly. This attempt took him nearly an hour before he finished and when he was done, his entire mental body was about to fall apart. But he had a smile on his face as he stared at the sword before him. It was a pitch black sword engraved with mysterious runes all over it.
A mythical aura surrounded it, making it seem like something that didn't belong to this world. Long Feng had never even seen this sword in his life, yet when it appeared in his mind and he used it here, if felt perfect. This was the manifestation of his intent. This was the core of his believes. This was his sword Dao! He reached out to grab the sword hilt but his hand passed through it. He didn't try again for a few minutes before he sighed and closed his eyes gently.
"If I have to be ruthless, so be it." He opened his eyes, revealing utterly cold and indifferent pupils as he reached out to grab it again. His hand still went through it, but the sword shivered slightly. He stared at it calmly then looked towards the sky.
"The peak is where you belong. I will take you there. To the absolute peak of this world, and overlook everything." The sword shook once he finished speaking. He reached out to grab it and yet still failed once again. His expression didn't change.
"My will isn't boundless. It isn't vast nor blazing. But It won't bend before anyone. I won't back down to anyone and I most certainly won't accept defeat from anyone." The sword immediately flew into his grasp by itself, vibrating like it was conveying words. Long Feng tightened his grip around it.
"I don't mind breaking all rules. My killing heart will be ruthless and decisive. My sword heart isn't yet perfect, but someday, it will be. And if that day comes, I will seek to rewrite the heavens." The mental world instantly shattered to motes of light. All that was left was a single sword that seemed to have survived the beginning of time and witnessed the rise and fall of the world. This was Long Feng's sword intent manifestation, a sword he failed to recognize no matter how he searched his memory.
But that didn't matter now. A tremendously powerful sword energy surged out of his body. This wasn't concept. It far surpassed concept. Long Feng sensed this energy calmly. His gaze seemed to contain his intent. A single gaze could kill Yang realm warriors and weak spirit realm warriors if he wanted. This was sword intent, not rudimentary sword intent but true sword intent. Even deity realm masters would kill to comprehend and intent.
Who knew how they would react if they learnt that Long Feng had comprehended his sword intent at rank nine spirit realm? Moreover, this could definitely rank as the strongest sword intent in this world as long as no one else had ever understood these three sentences. Long Feng didn't believe anyone else had. The reason he succeeded was because he already had the inheritance of the Firmament Sword Saint, an unfathomable sword cultivator who could cut open the heaven with his sword.
And the Circle of Firmament already had a hint of these three sword laws. Old Man Solitude also hinted at this path to Long Feng. He himself was still searching for it while Long Feng had found it already and was embarking on it.
"I can't unleash the fill power of my sword intent, not even up to fifty percent due to my cultivation. I'll need to reach the Imperial realm to unleash it fully. By then, no one under the deity realm would be my opponent!" Long Feng casually muttered. Considering that he still had some time in the remnant, he sat down and continued comprehending whatever he could. The profoundness in these sentences were as vast as the heavens. What he understood wasn't even one percent of them.
It was impossible to imagine who left the ancient sword legacy remnant and the level he had attained in his sword Dao and martial cultivation.
