"The Dao comprehension grounds and the trial lands are both among the several shocking heritages of the Sect. They have contributed to the birth of several earth shattering geniuses who have risen from the Supreme Heaven Sect." Long Feng murmured. He had read through the entire jade and had learnt many new things regarding the Supreme Heaven Sect. The Dao comprehension grounds were few even in the sect and they required Heaven runes to enter them.
Heaven runes were the currencies used within the sect to do pretty much everything, like purchasing resources, gaining better cultivation grounds, entering the Dao comprehension grounds and even some of the trial lands. Nothing else was accepted. The heaven runes were contained within the identity tokens. Long Feng had none, which was why he couldn't find anything. To truly be able to access the Sect's endless opportunities to the fullest was to possess heaven runes.
For example, entering the Dao comprehension grounds required ten thousand heaven runes for just two hours! And most outer disciples wouldn't earn even a thousand runes in years. That was because earning the runes wasn't easy. There were different methods to earn the runes. One could hunt rare powerful wild beasts and exchange their bodies for runes, but that was very risky and had a high mortality rate.
One would need to kill extremely rare deity level beasts or even Dao level beasts at least to exchange for high amounts of heaven runes. One could also complete missions to earn runes. That was the most often used method, as one could pick a low risk mission to complete and earn resources and heaven runes as rewards without suffering, but the amount of heaven runes would be miniscule compared to the ten thousand required.
Breaking records or making great achievements within or outside the sect was another way to earn a massive amount of heaven runes, but the difficulty of that needn't be explained. Even the inner disciples would struggle to gain any name outside the sect, not to mention outer disciples. There were other minor things that could earn heaven runes, but they would take years to earn the ten thousand runes.
And from what Long Feng had read, the Dao comprehension grounds were extremely sought for by the outer and inner peak disciples. It would appear that his opportunity to enter two Dao comprehension grounds for two hours was priceless, and that was because he was a new disciple; all new disciples received that advantage once. Other advantages were that he could pick a single mid mortal grade cultivation manual and two low rank mortal grade Dao skills from the Myriad Techniques Hall.
It was unfortunate that Long Feng didn't need the two Dao skills and wasn't allowed to cultivate any manual, so he had no use for them all. That being said, he would still collect them and gather as much resources and heritage for the Long clan. Perhaps someday, the Long clan would be ready to step into the Mainland and become a true force to be reckoned with.
"First, I should check out the Dao comprehension grounds and find out what they are. Seeing as the Dao comprehension grounds has the word 'Dao' in it, it should be useful for my Dao. The trial lands seem to have specific opening days so I can't go for those yet. After that, I'll fully focus on raising my cultivation. The Supreme Heaven Sect isn't lacking in resources." His cultivation was still his priority right now. In this Mainland, he was irrefutably weak. Any average disciple could defeat him.
He had no choice but to focus on his cultivation and try his best to stay low key for now. His pride and brilliance would have to be suppressed until he was ready to explode in a dazzling explosion of light. And that time wouldn't take long. The sun was already setting, signifying the end of the day, so Long Feng decided to head to the Dao comprehension grounds tomorrow. For now, he sat down and meditated through the night, keeping his guards up all the while.
He was in a brand new place with threats and powers he couldn't even fully understand, and he was weak, unable to protect himself. He definitely wasn't able to sleep peacefully, not to mention cultivate. Although keeping his guards up throughout the night was exhausting, it gave Long Feng a tiny sense of security in this foreign land, so it was worth it. This story is posted elsewhere by the author. The next day, Long Feng left his pavilion early in the morning and followed the map to the Dao Heaven Hall. That was where the so called Dao comprehension lands were. This actually confused Long Feng. The Dao Heaven Hall was apparently used by both inner and outer disciples. Why then was it on th outer peak? Why not in the inner peak? Or was it to prevent outer peak disciples from ever stepping into the inner peak?
He didn't think much on that and took his time, walking along the path to the mountain top for over an hour before he arrived at the 'Dao Heaven Hall'. It was a grand hall very close to the peak of the mountain. Seeing the Dao Heaven Hall, one word crossed Long Feng's mind.
"Enormous!" The Dao Heaven Hall was really enormous and it could easily be the largest building on the outer peak. Standing before it, Long Feng felt as tiny as an ant, showing just how large this hall was. The columns by the hall's entrance were exquisitely built, about thirty feet tall and needing several people holding hands to wrap around each one. The hall itself gave off a very sturdy feeling. The materials it was built with were far from ordinary.
Long Feng couldn't tell what they were, but he could sense the dense aura the entire hall emanated. The entrance was wide open and Long Feng spotted several people inside with a glance. Most of them were standing around causally, either conversing or just standing quietly, while a few were seated and cultivating, indifferent to their surroundings. Without exception, each of them had vast auras that surpassed the current Long Feng's. He would find it hard to survive before any of them in a fight.
Long Feng kept his calm and stepped into the hall, grabbing some attention. None of the youths in the hall gave Long Feng more than two glances. With his cultivation, he just wasn't worth their time. All of the youths here would rank among the upper mid of the outer peak disciples; they were far above the several youths who gathered in the training ground to watch Long Feng's entrance test. Those were the lowest among the outer disciples. Long Feng calmly swung walked in and looked around.
The most prominent thing in this large hall was a huge crystal wall in the center of the hall. It was plain and unattractive, but Long Feng noticed many youths walk up to the wall and place their identity tokens on it for a few seconds, then walk past the wall towards several huge metal doors at the far end or the hall. Long Feng observed everything for a few seconds and realized that the doors were probably the entrance to the Dao comprehension grounds.
He took a step forward and prepared to approach it, but just then, his pupils shrank and he froze. A dense aura shrouded the hall for a few seconds, startling everyone as one of the metal doors opened and a white robed youth strolled out with a casual expression. The shocking aura was emanated by this youth who looked slightly younger than Huang Fang Hao. This aura was something Long Feng would recognize anywhere; a powerful aura that terrified all beneath it.
"Deity Realm!" He cried out in his heart. That's right. This youth was exuding the unique aura of the deity realm! This was something that would be mind blowing in the continent zone; a twenty something years old deity. Even though he was probably an early stage deity, that was more than enough to make him the ruler of a mid ranked continent! But here, he was just another outer peak disciple. The youth strolled past the crystal wall without glancing at anyone in the hall.
His footsteps were measured with each step he took, and although silent, each step seemed to land on the hearts of everyone present. The strongest in the hall were peak Imperials like Lu Jian, perhaps stronger than him, but still incomparable to a true blue deity realm master. Everyone stared at the casual youth with solemn expressions on their faces. Long Feng's heart shook again when a similar presence suddenly appeared behind him. He didn't need to turn around to know.
Behind him, a second youth had walked into the Dao Heaven Hall with heavy footsteps, his vast aura making the atmosphere in the hall to be heavier. Another Deity Realm youth! Long Feng's eyes had truly been opened today. Running into two deity realm youths at once was something not many cold boast about. The youth behind Long Feng walked past him and approached the other youth and the two stood before each other and exchanged calm glances.
A strange silence descended upon the hall before some disciples began to mutter.
"What's the occasion? Two of the top ten outer peak disciples both came to the Dao Heaven Hall today?"
"Those are Yang Qian and Zhou Zheng. They're both early stage deities and are among the top ten outer peak disciples. Yang Qian is ranked eighth while Zhou Zheng is ranked ninth. Their ranks are right beside each other, meaning the competition between them is tense." Someone muttered.
"The top ten outer disciples are really strong. Their strength already rivals the weaker inner disciples. All that's left is for them to take the inner disciple test and become true inner peak disciples. We can't compare to them at all."
"That's right. I heard that even the weakest inner peak disciples are early stage deities comparable to the top ten outer peak disciples. It's unimaginable!" Long Feng listened to all these via his soul power and couldn't help but feel shocked. Deities… the realm that signified powerhouses in the continent zone was just the bare requirement to become an Inner disciple here?
Yang Qian was the youth who had just exited one of the Dao comprehension grounds while the youth who had walked into the Dao Heaven Hall just now was Zhou Zheng. They stared at each other for a few seconds before Yang Qian smiled gently.
"Zhou Zheng, I've deepened my comprehension of the water Dao. I will be challenging the seventh place soon before the inner disciple test. I hope you make some advancement, otherwise next time we fight, you'll lose spectacularly." Zhou Zheng snorted coldly.
"What a joke. You think a small boost can make you defeat me? I lost last time due to a slight mistake. I've also fixed the flaw in my cultivation manual. I'll be challenging you soon." He retorted. Yang Qian's smile deepened as he nodded.
"Very well. I await your challenge. Before we enter the Inner peak, I'd love to have a good fight." Zhou Zheng didn't respond and simply walked past Yang Qian. He approached the crystal wall, placed his identity token against it for a few seconds then walked towards one of the several large metal doors. Yang Qian shook his head slightly and walked past Long Feng, leaving the hall. Everyone watched both of them vanish and began to speak loudly.
"How surprising. Both of them seem to have gotten a bit stronger. I wonder who would win next time?"
"The last time, Yang Qian won by a fluke. Zhou Zheng's manual which he cultivates has a minor flaw that caused his loss. But now that he has fixed that flaw, I don't know who would come out on top."
"The Inner disciple test is fast approaching. This group of top ten are about to join the Inner peak. I remember we joined the sect several years ago at about the same time as some of the current top ten, but I'm still stuck at the peak Imperial realm while they're all Deities already." Someone sighed sadly. Peak Imperial realm was by no means weak, but it was far from being strong in the Mainland. Only deities were considered to have become strong enough to gain some fame.
The chatter continued for a long time after the two geniuses left before the noise calmed down. Long Feng took a deep breath and calmed his emotions before approaching the crystal wall with a serious expression. These two youths had lit up a flame in his heart. He didn't want to be an observer in this place. That as what the current him was. An observer in a sea of talents and powerhouses. He didn't have any control over himself. Long Feng hated that feeling. He wasn't conflicted with being an observer…
what he refused was to be a weak observer. He would rather observe everything from an unparalleled viewpoint, the peak. Not the bottom!
