Long Feng didn't wait to listen to their discussions. He quickly rushed away without pausing till he was sufficiently far away from the palace. Then he followed the map in his token and began to search for the nearest empty pavilion to stay in. There were literally thousands of pavilions, and they didn't even amount to more than twenty percent of the outer peak due to its size. The map clearly showed several restricted areas where Long Feng wasn't allowed to go to.
He duly avoided all those areas and headed towards the nearest empty house. The Outer Peak was really huge. Going from the bottom to the peak would take days for him if he walked. And then when he tried to fly, he was astonished to discover that he couldn't even jump a few feet high at all. After several attempts, he realized that there was a flight restriction formation on this peak which restricted flight.
But Ao Zhentian was able to fly freely, which meant the restriction had a certain limit, either on realm or status, considering that not even the Head Warden had flown. He took a long while to reach the nearest empty pavilion. It was large, but he didn't like where it was situated; it was too close to a few other pavilions, and they were all occupied.
Long Feng had several secrets he didn't want anyone to find out about and he wouldn't want to live close to anyone, consider that he was currently very weak in this place. He could very well be spied on without him realizing it. Although he couldn't think of a reason why anyone would want to spy on him, he wasn't willing to leave anything to chances. He shook his head and moved further away, following the map to a distance pavilion which appeared to be lone, distant from all other pavilions.
It wasn't the only empty pavilion that was far from others, but it was the closest to Long Feng. Even then, it took him almost an hour to arrive at the pavilion. It was surrounded by tall grasses and many trees around, revealing that it hadn't been used for a while. It was quite far from all other buildings and no one would pay any attention to it in particular. This was what Long Feng wanted. Besides, Ao Zhentian had also told him to lay low in the Outer Peak until he was strong enough.
Upon arriving at the pavilion, Long Feng went ahead and cleared the grasses and even cut off some of the trees that were too close. Within half an hour, the pavilion was given a new look. Long Feng had to marvel at the size of this pavilion. Each outer disciple had a similar house to themselves; enough to house dozens of people easily. And there were nearly ten thousand disciples in the Outer Peak.
Most of them were in seclusion or our of the Sect, otherwise the peak would have been much more lively than it was now. The entire pavilion was surrounded by multiple powerful formations that Long Feng couldn't hope to comprehend at his current level. The only way to gain control of the pavilion was using his identity token. Long Feng already knew what to do. He calmly stood before the entrance and pressed his token against the tightly sealed doors.
Several runes on the door lit up and a powerful aura seeped out of the pavilion, then the token gleamed brightly. When Long Feng sent his consciousness into it again, he could sense a strange link between him and the pavilion before him. He couldn't describe it exactly, but he could control the formations in the pavilion to some extent, inclusion opening the doors, sealing it, defending it and more trivial things. He could even use the formations to attack someone in the pavilion.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation. What shocked him was the power of the attack and defense. From what he could sense, not even an early deity realm master would be able to break through the defense, and the attack could make it hard for them to block against.
"This is just for the insignificant outer disciples. What kind of advantages would those Inner disciples get?" Long Feng clicked his tongue and shook his head. He waved the token before the entrance and the doors opened slowly, allowing him to walk in after which they shut tight. The inside of the pavilion compromised of a few rooms, a large hall, a seclusion room and a training room. There was an energy gathering formation within the pavilion which made the already dense natural energy to be even denser inside it.
Just breathing made Long Feng feel reinvigorated. This feeling was akin to swimming in a sea of natural energy. It was really no surprise that the geniuses of the mainland would be terrifying. With a sigh, he walked into the seclusion room. It was tightly defended against and the formations here were even stronger. That was natural, because any interruptions during a crucial state of cultivation would be disastrous. Death was entirely possible.
There was even a different energy gathering formation within the seclusion room. The dense natural energy had formed a thick fog within the room and a day of cultivation here would be equal to ten days in the continent zone. The training room was large and the floor was made using a very hard stone that Long Feng couldn't identify. But he reckoned that his strongest attack wouldn't shake this room at all. A deity would perhaps be required to scratch these floors. Only in the mainland could these resources be found.
There was also a single human shaped puppet within the training room. It was entirely made of a strange metal and looked completely humanoid. Through the token, Long Feng was able to sense a few formations within it and he realized what it's use was.
"How surprising. A puppet that has such abilities…" Long Feng was astonished. This puppet was able to unleash the strength of cultivators through some unknown means. The lowest level of the puppet was comparable to rank one Imperial; and it was absolutely top tier among normal rank one Imperials. Long Feng could increase it's strength via the token from rank one Imperial all the way to early deity realm! That was absolutely shocking.
In the continent zone, a deity was an absolute being, even if it was just an early stage deity! But here… they didn't amount to much. Even a puppet could wield such strength. The main use of the puppet was to act as a sparing partner for the disciples. This was new to Long Feng; he had never seen or heard of something like this before. He curiously activated the puppet through the token and set it to it's lowest, rank one Imperial realm.
The puppet's dull eyes slowly gleamed with faint light as the puppet moved it's head stiffly to glance at Long Feng. Then it rushed at him and threw a fist that contained the full power of a rank one imperial master. Long Feng easily dodged the attack and let the puppet attack several more times before he shut it down.
"It's very strong, but it lacks flexibility. Perhaps due to it's lack of intelligence, but it's attacks are easy to predict." He shook his head. Now wasn't the time to test how much of the puppet's strength he could withstand. He strolled out of the training room and casually chose the largest bedroom to stay in. The room was well furnished with a large bed, a bathroom and other expected things. Ther was also a formation that released a pleasant scent to fill the air, causing the room to have a nice atmosphere.
"Not bad at all." Long Feng nodded in satisfaction and sat on the bed. Without wasting time, he took out the jade that described the entirety of the Supreme Heaven Sect and began to go through it. According to the jade, the Supreme Heaven Sect had existed for thousands of years. It was a renowned force in the mainland, feared and respected by many.
The sect master of the Supreme Heaven Sect was surprisingly one of the few figures in the world who could compare to the strongest masters in the four Royal Clans, which was the requirement to become a quasi one star force. But Long Feng wasn't really interested in all that. He skimmed through all the history of the Supreme Heaven Sect and went to the rules and regulations part.
The rules weren't much, but they were very strict and breaking them could lead to great punishment that ranged from imprisonment to banishment, crippling of cultivation and even death. Long Feng went through the rules and found no issue with them. He was fine with following the rules, as they wouldn't really restrict him much. Except for one rule that might be troublesome. Each month, a disciple must complete a single mission from the Missions Hall.
Failure to complete a mission for a month without a reason would result in a warning from the Regulation Hall. The regulations hall and the Discipline hall were the two most feared halls in the outer peak, and in the entire sect itself. The regulations hall managed all rules of the sect. Breaking any rule would result in the most terrifying punishment from them. The Discipline hall was less dominant.
It merely focused on minor offenses and was limited to the outer peak, while the regulations hall was present in the inner and even core peaks. It was rumoured that even normal elders wouldn't want to get on the bad sides of the regulation elders. Of course, there were exceptions to this rule. If one was in seclusion, then one could take a time off from completing missions for up to a year. But after the seclusion, one would have to complete all the missed missions at once. Long Feng read all these with a sigh.
Missions… it appeared that he couldn't escape this torture anywhere. He kept reading and finally found exactly what he was searching for. Dao comprehension grounds and the trial lands of the Supreme Heaven Sect! These were the two things the old man beside the Head Warden had mentioned. According to the jade, the Supreme Heaven Sect had several special Dao comprehension grounds that were created either naturally or using tremendous power.
They were extremely useful in comprehending the Dao and could advance one's comprehension by leaps and bounds. The trial lands on the other hand were unique mystic realms similar to the supreme heaven mystic realm Ao Zhentian possessed, but better and larger with great fortuitous encounters and opportunities to become stronger and even receive special inheritances. Both were extremely tempting to all disciples, and even Long Feng was already tempted by them just by reading about them.
Even if the explanation was over the top, it shouldn't be that far from the truth.
