Long Feng's brows were furrowed as he flew at his full speed, yet the rank four Imperial master closed on him. He was pondering on what to do when another powerful aura rushed into the range of his soul power, as well as a few rank three. Long Feng's expression finally changed. He pushed his speed to his absolute limit, yet the closest rank four Imperial was catching up. He would catch up to Long Feng in a few minutes. Long Feng's mind was filled with different ideas, yet none of them was plausible.
"My soul power isn't enough to deceive them. One of them is right behind me. I have to do something, otherwise if he keeps me tied up untill the others arrive as well, then I can forget about leaving." Thinking of this, Long Feng decisively stopped flying away and instead turned around and rushed straight towards the rank four Imperial. He could only hope his spirit energy wouldn't betray him at this point. The rank four Imperial was undoubtedly surprised at Long Feng's actions. Then he smiled.
"This kid is interesting. At this point, forcing me back is the best plan. I wonder how he wished to do that though." The origin spirit sword was already in Long Feng's grasp as he unleashed the strongest demon sword he could. The pitch black sword light sliced towards the man.
"Hm. Worthy of being an overlord indeed. If you were Dong Fang or Lei Jie, then I'm afraid I won't be enough to stop you. But you're still below them by a bit." The man commented as he shattered the sword light with a punch. He looked up to find Long Feng's figure fading away while a sharp aura appeared behind him. The man was surprised again.
"Impressive agility technique. I couldn't sense your movement at all. You really do have secrets on you." He murmured as he flipped over in the air, dodging the origin spirit sword.
"You talk too much! Earth Firmament strike!" Long Feng shouted coldly. The man was still calm and was about to say something again when his pupils shrank at the sudden danger he had from Long Feng's sword.
"It's that sword skill he used!" He gasped in his heart and became serious as he released his full strength to block the strike. The Firmament Sword strike still broke through the man's defense and left a faint cut on his arm before it vanished.
"Very impressive kid. But you're out of time. The others are almost here." The man glanced at his bleed arm and smiled while speaking. He lifted his head to stare at Long Feng and noticed the sweat on the latter's forehead.
"As I thought. You can't use that skill easily. But I still won't take the risk. I just need to hold you down untill more of us arrive. That is a simple thing for me." Long Feng breathed heavily and frowned. More auras were rapidly approaching from several directions. He could sense two more rank four Imperials and it was likely that rank five Imperials could be on their way as well. Not to mention the several rank three and two Imperials as well. This was a lineup that Long Feng absolutely couldn't face.
If he let them catch up, then he might as well let them capture him and spare himself the suffering.
"So, what will you do? I'm also curious as to how you'll escape, if you can, that is." The man leisurely floated in the air and spoke. He didn't need to do much. Keeping Long Feng here was definitely something he could do for hours if he wanted to. And Long Feng only had an hour of time before more people would begin to arrive.
"It's simple actually." Long Feng calmed down and replied.
"Oh? And what is that?" If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
"To kill you!" Long Feng replied icily and shot towards the man again.
"Hehehehe. Kid, I like your humor." The man was briefly startled then he laughed and watched Long Feng rush over indifferently. Long Feng's eyes glimmered as the origin spirit sword began to shine with the same profound energy of the Earth Firmament Strike. The man's guard lowered even more. He thought Long Feng would reveal a different method, maybe even ignite his life source. But he was merely pushing his body beyond it's limits to use that strike again. The man had blocked it once.
He could definitely block it a second time again. He watched the origin spirit sword draw closer to him, yet he didn't bother to move yet. But a second later, the aura of the origin spirit sword suddenly changed, becoming something greater, something more vast and profound than anything he had ever sensed. It felt as though he was drowning in an endless ocean of Dao itself. He caught sight of the faint smile on Long Feng's face and a dangerous sensation gripped his heart.
"Heaven… Firmament… Strike!" This was the second skill of the Firmament Sword Art, the heaven firmament strike. This was it's very first appearance in battle since Long Feng comprehended a bit of it. He had merely comprehend about ten percent of it, yet it already left the Earth Firmament strike in the dust in terms of profoundness and power. The man's expression changed drastically as he tried to retreat and unleash his full power, but he instantly noticed that he was unable to move!
Or rather, he was moving, but in the same space. This strike seemed to somehow affect the space around the target and prevented them from moving away. And it was already too late for him to put up any reasonable defense. The man roared and released his full strength in a bid to break the invisible shackles that bound him. The origin spirit sword arrived silently, cleaving through his rashly set defense like it was tofu. A wild shockwave erupted and spread out across a significant area of the thunder sky continent.
Long Feng was hit by the shockwave and he coughed up several mouthfuls of blood and crashed into the ground, nearly completely depleted of his spirit energy. Right now, he could no longer use the Firmament Sword Art at all. The man was in a worse state. Long Feng didn't know if he survived, but there was a very deep gash across his chest that nearly seemed to reveal his beating heart while almost tearing his abdomen open. He was losing so much blood that it was worrying.
He would probably die soon even if he wasn't dead already. Long Feng sighed and didn't have the time to waste. He took the man's void ring and pocketed it and he fled weakly. A long while after he left, a powerful aura approached and paused over the area. This aura belonged to a rank five Imperial! The new comer looked around with a sour face and stared at the corpse on the ground for a minute longer, them turned to face the direction Long Feng flew in.
"Kid, you think you can escape? Think again." The man shot towards Long Feng at a great speed that surpassed even rank four Imperials by quite a bit. The rank four Imperials and others soon arrived and also continued the chase, this time with heavy hearts after seeing the corpse of a rank four Imperial realm master.
The chase went on for the whole day. Long Feng seemed to have vanished and no one could find him. The next day, more people searched around the teleportation formation for him but found no trace of him. Many people speculated the use of a concealment formation and thus, special treasures to detect soul power were used. There were more than one group of people searching for Long Feng, and each group had a different master.
In such a situation, conflicts soon arose between the groups and they even began to fight each other while searching for Long Feng.
Two days later, Long Feng rushed towards the teleportation formation at the fastest speed he could muster. He had found a hidden place to set up concealment formation for the past two days and he stayed there to recuperate. The injuries in his body were quite serious. He had sustained some in the hundred continent meeting, and he wasn't able to recover before he had to fight several cultivators and even a rank four Imperial. This naturally placed great strain on his body. For two days, he focused on recovering.
Today, he had made a nearly complete recovery and his spirit energy was full again. He then decided to continue ahead and quickly reach the teleportation formation. After all, his concealment formation wasn't good enough to escape the senses rank three Imperials and above. Anyone who randomly flew over would sense something wrong below and Long Feng would be exposed. It was better to take the risk and continue rushing towards the teleportation formation.
As he flew along, he looked ahead and came to a pause, narrowing his gaze at the old man who suddenly appeared across him. The old man was grey haired with wrinkled skin and muddy eyes, but Long Feng didn't dare to underestimate him. He totally couldn't see through this old man.
"Who are you?" He shouted after a moment of silence. The old man didn't reply and silently observed him. Then he smiled and stroked his beard.
"Good kid. A rank one spirit realm youth killing several Imperials, including a rank four Imperial is unheard of. It would appear that you still hid some of your strength in the Hundred Continent Meeting." Long Feng's heart sank at these words. He already had a guess as to who this old man was and the man's words more or less confirmed his suspicion.
"You don't need to know how I am. I'll be asking the questions. As for whether you live or die, that will be entirely up to how you respond."
"What questions?" Long Feng calmed down and asked slowly while thinking of various methods to escape.
"One, what fortuitous encounter did you obtain that gave you your combat power? Tell me about it" Long Feng's final hope shattered. It would appear that this was definitely a powerful person who was after his so called 'fortuitous encounter'.
"Senior, this junior really has no fortuitous encounter. I also don't understand…" The old man raised his arm, cutting Long Feng off, said "Wrong answer" then waved his sleeve. Long Feng was instantly sent flying backwards, coughing out some blood as he crashed into the floor. He wasn't even able to reach. Hell, his instincts didn't even have the time to warn him. He lay there in a daze. A single wave of the sleeve, and he felt as though he had tanked Huang Fang Hao's attacks head on!
This was obviously the old man holding back greatly. This was merely a warning.
"Again kid. Choose your answer wisely this time. I'm case you don't know, I am a deity. You can drop all thoughts of resistance. Tell me what I want to know, Otherwise you won't leave here alive." The old man spoke calmly. Long Feng staggered to his feet, still dizzy from the earlier fall. He looked up at the old man weakly and grinned, then lifted his hand and pointed his middle finger at the old man. The old man frowned then snorted.
"Kid, it's apparent that you've planned to die today right? Do you really believe that I won't kill you with a single slap?" He asked coldly, faint killing intent brewing in his eyes.
"Kill him? And you think you'll leave alive yourself? I'd very much like to see just how you plan on doing that." This reply obviously wasn't from Long Feng. There was no one around, yet this indifferent voice sounded everywhere, yet at the same time, it was as though it spoke directly into the ears of Long Feng and the old man. The old man instantly froze, his facial expression turning colourful.
"Who?" He thundered, his voice lacking power. Long Feng also looked around with a confused frown on his face. Up till now, he was still feeling light headed and giddy from the Old man's casual sleeve wave. Even then, his heart skipped a beat. For someone to speak without a deity even knowing about their presence… was that something another deity could do? Long Feng didn't know. What he did know, was that the speaker, whoever he was, was definitely stronger than this old man.
