The old man looked around warily, suppressing the shock in his heart.
"Kid, you're good. Really good. But..." the same voice began to speak again. As the words echoed, the space before Long Feng rippled like the surface of a river and a person stepped out. The person was a man dressed in white robes. He was middle aged with a dignified expression. There was an extremely mysterious feeling around this man. His appearance seemed to cause the entire continent to freeze, leaving everything under his mercy.
He appeared leisurely, completely ignoring the deity old man and instead stared at Long Feng.
"You lack enough decisiveness when you kill. If you must kill, then do it cleanly, completely." The man said, his gaze fixed on Long Feng. Long Feng stood there in a daze, unsure of what to make of the current situation. Who was this man? Whose side was he on? Was he also here to capture Long Feng? The old man also had the same worries. He feared that this man was significantly stronger than him. Was he also here to take a share of the spoils? This caused the old man to feel displeased.
"Hey, who are you? I found the kid first!" Shouted the old man. The middle aged man didn't react at all. He began to speak again.
"Kid, when you fight to kill, then you shouldn't think twice about it, just kill." As the man said this, he suddenly lifted his hand and pointed a finger behind him at the old man without turning around. The old man suddenly blew up without warning, exploding into blood and gore that splashed around. Long Feng was absolutely shocked at this. He began to even doubt whether he was hallucinating. That was a true blue deity! A deity who could kill him with a slap! Killed with a casual finger point! Who was this man?
From the current situation, he didn't seem to be a foe, and even if he was, then considering how easily he just killed a deity, Long Feng wouldn't have the slightest hope anyway.
"If you overthink it, you will end up getting killed instead." The man withdrew his finger and calmly spoke, bringing Long Feng back to his senses. Long Feng quickly clasped his fists and bowed a little.
"Thank you for saving me, Senior." He didn't dare to be disrespectful to this man. He would be vacuumed out of existence before he would even knew it if he pissed off this man who could kill a deity so easily.
'He must be a Dao realm master!' Long Feng thought while he thanked, feeling chilled in his bones. The man didn't reply. Instead, he lifted his head and stared at the sky indifferently.
"Since you're all here, why try to run?" Long Feng immediately raised his head in alarm, his caution rising to the peak instantly. From the man's words, there were others? A few seconds later, no one appeared. Long Feng still didn't lower his guard, instead becoming more cautious. The man seemed to have become impatient. He frowned faintly and stared at the empty sky icily.
"You all have ten breaths to get over here if you don't want to die!" The absolute indifference in his voice left Long Feng feeling slightly relieved and even more curious about this man. His words had an instant effect. A few old men appeared in the sky and quickly flew down, standing before the man with green expressions. Each of them had auras that could compare to the old man from before; they were all deities!
"Greetings, Senior. This one was just passing over and decided to wait. Senior can rest assured." Said one of the old men with a nervous laugh.
"Indeed. This old me happened to be around the area. I sensed some weird fluctuations and rushed over to witness the scene of a fellow deity bullying a young lad. I was going to step forward and help the kid but senior beat me to it." Another old man joined. Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel.
"Senior has done us all a favor by getting rid of him. He is a shame to us deities." The old men all began to lie shamelessly, and Long Feng had to admire their abilities to speak nonsense. It would appear that deities didn't just have great power but also extremely thick skins.
"Oh really? You all happened to be around here and rushed over to save the kid right?" The man asked in slight amusement. The old men all nodded without hesitation.
"Very well. In that case, you can all join him as well." The man replied calmly as though he was condemning ants to death and not deities. The old men all revealed terrified expressions and immediately spread out in different directions, flying away at their greatest speed. Within seconds, they were already just faint dots in the sky to Long Feng. The man was unbothered by their escape. He turned to Long Feng and spoke.
"This is a special technique of the Supreme Heaven Sect. It's a peak mortal grade Dao skill. Watch." The man raised his arm with his palm facing the sky. Long Feng watched with rapt attention as a tiny whirlpool rotated on the man's palm. He didn't know what that supreme heaven sect was, but he knew what a mortal grade Dao skill meant. It was a martial skill dozens of times stronger than an imperial skill. And a peak mortal grade skill was the best amongst mortal grade skills.
The unimpressive whirlpool grew to a huge size in a second, spinning with such great intensity that large swaths of the ground ripped apart and got crushed by the whirlpool. The suction force of the whirlpool grew to a terrifying degree. If it wasn't for the old man blocking Long Feng, then he would definitely be torn to shreds in this whirlpool. A few seconds later, the figures of the old men who had fled slowly began to reappear. At first, Long Feng was confused as to why they would return.
But he soon noticed that they all had extremely terrified expressions, and they were trying their best to fly away, yet they seemed to be irresistibly pulled back.
"Senior! Spare me!"
"Senior show mercy!" The men cried out as they drew closer to the whirlpool. They definitely wouldn't survive falling into that savage whirlpool. The man ignored their pleas. It didn't take long for one of them to lose resistance and was pulled into the whirlpool, where he was reduced to paste. The remaining old men wore looks of terror on their faces. They soon realized that they would certainly lose their lives. This man was no saint. They were deities after all, powerhouses above peak Imperials.
Before now, Long Feng hadn't even thought it would ever be so easy to kill them, especially after personally facing the enormous power they wielded; thrice. Their final struggle would definitely be dazzling.
"Argh! You want me dead? I'll take you with me!" One of the men roared as though he had lost his mind. He stopped resisting the suction pull and was dragged at a terrifying speed towards the spinning whirlpool, towards the man. The old man snarled with scarlet eyes as his full energy gushed out, shaking the entire Thunder Sky Continent. Several powerhouses on the continent, as well as the envoys who were still on the continent looked in this direction curiously.
The full burst of a deity's energy was rare in the continent zone; they wouldn't normally fight each other to the death. This naturally piqued many people's interests.
"Die!" The old man lifted his palm and a glittering green energy flowed out of his arm and wrapped around the arm like mercury. This energy was unlike Imperial spirit energy. It was far beyond it, both in power, density and level. This was the power wielded only by deities and beyond; True essence! With the true essence, the old man's aura reached a new height. The weather of the entire continent seemed to be affected and began to darken slowly.
The old man's palm seemed to have become a crystal green arm and it gave off an aura that would leave any and all Imperials frozen. A single touch would probably reduce several Imperials to dust. This was the true power of deities! Even a large mountain would shake under this palm. As the palm approached the man, he remained completely indifferent. There was not a single change in his expression. He glanced up at the palm then pointed a finger at it.
"With just this paltry amount of essence, you call yourself a deity?" Before his words could even shock Long Feng, the palm met his outstretched finger. There was no explosion, no shockwave. Instead, the green true essence silently shattered, then the old man's arm similarly exploded into blood mist. The old man let out a shrill cry as he tried to retreat, but the whirlpool's suction had already reached a terrifying level at this point.
He was powerlessly pulled in without resistance and faced the same fate as the first person. The other old men were absolutely terrified, yet they were unable to resist as they were all pulled into the whirlpool. In a few seconds, they were all dead, reduced to red paste on the ground. This scene left Long Feng reeling in shock. Those were all deities! Since when did killing deities became so easy? This man made it seem completely effortless.
Especially when he blocked the full powered attack of a deity with a finger and still shattered the old man's arm! This man's strength... was definitely beyond that of a deity! Before him, deities were as weak as ants. Like ants; they couldn't withstand a single blow. The man nodded satisfactorily then looked up into the sky again.
"You can return now. Tell your sect master that he did well. I'll stop by sometime." Three middle aged men appeared in the sky and bowed towards the man respectfully.
"Yes Lord Envoy. We'll take our leave now!" Saying that, the three men glanced at Long Feng with amiable expressions before they left. Long Feng stood there in a daze, trying to ponder on how things took such a sudden turn. He had no idea that several deities were hiding in the dark, waiting for him. The thought chilled his bones. One deity enough could kill him with a slap. What more a dozen of them?
If it wasn't for this man who appeared out of nowhere with strength above deities, then Long Feng might've lost his poor life today. A few more questions were left in his heart though. Who was this man? Those three men had called him Lord Envoy? Was he also one of the Envoys from the mainland? Long Feng's heartbeat began to speed up at this thought. He also wondered who those three were. They each gave off auras that wouldn't lose out to any of the old men, maybe even surpass them.
But since the man didn't kill them, then they weren't foes. In that case, what were they doing here? As he was drowning in his thoughts, the man had turned around and was staring at him with a faint smile. Long Feng quickly snapped out of his reverie and stepped back a few steps cautiously, then clasped his fists again.
"Senior, thank you for saving me. Junior will engrave this favor in my heart." He spoke respectfully, not faking his gratefulness. He would otherwise have no idea what to do when faced with several deities. The man slowly stroked his beard while assessing Long Feng, then nodded.
"You're Long Feng?" He asked. Long Feng was slightly startled. Why would this man know his name? But he still answered regardless of his doubts. He couldn't afford to offend this man. Not in the slightest.
"That's right senior. I am Long Feng."
"Hmm. Did you learn anything from the skill?" The man asked faintly. Long Feng paused and scratched his head. How was he to pay attention to a skill when he watched a dozen deities get killed like nothing? His mind was still reeling right now. The man didn't wait for his reply though.
"Don't worry. It's not easy to learn a Dao skill after watching it once." The man stroked his beard again thoughtfully then turned around.
"Come with me." Of course, it wasn't a request. Long Feng didn't even get the chance to reply before he felt the air spinning. The world seemed to be flashing past him at a speed he had never experienced before in his life. His full speed wouldn't come to one percent of this speed they were moving at. Even through his daze, his dread towards this man was slowly growing.
