Long Feng stared at Huang Fang Hao deeply then nodded.
"Don't worry. The next time we meet, I will defeat you." He assured. Huang Fang Hao smiled.
"Good. The Heavenly Spear Pavilion is in the Southern Region of the Four Regions in the Mainland. Till we meet again." Saying that, he turned around and walked away, leaving the stage. All the while, his confidence never wavered, yet he never actually refuted Long Feng a single time when he mentioned defeating him the next time. Long Feng watched Huang Fang Hao go and couldn't help but smile.
"Perhaps if we meet again, we'll all be much stronger than we are now." After Huang Fang Hao left, Long Feng was left alone among the nine overlords on the stage. All the others had been chosen by an envoy, and the selection time was over. Anyone who hasn't been selected had already lost all hope whatsoever. Even Long Feng felt his heart sinking.
"Time to leave" He murmured with a sigh. He had already received the rewards. At least, he wouldn't be leaving empty handed. Although he still couldn't wrap his head around why none of the envoys approached him, now wasn't the time to overthink things. He could sense many eyes and even discreet perceptions on him, monitoring his movements. And some of them gave him a similar feeling to Old Gan. He couldn't afford to wait any longer.
"This brings an end to this decade's Hundred Continent Meeting. The thunder sky continent will remain open for a month before closing, so everyone can seek pointers from my sect. As for the geniuses who weren't fortunate enough to catch the attention of the Esteemed envoys, do not feel inferior. You will all be given a chance to join the Seven Overlord Factions as core disciples and cultivate." The thunder sky sect master spoke, drawing everyone's attention. This was the regular occurrence.
The geniuses left would be taken into the seven overlord continents and cultivated to become the powerhouses of the Continent Zone. That was how most of the past and current continent zone's leaders came to be. In fact, two of the Seven Overlord Leaders currently used to be geniuses of their continents during their time. They had participated in the Hundred Continent Meeting and gotten exceptional rankings, but due to some reasons weren't able to leave the continent zone.
They could only join the seven overlord continents and cultivate. Even then, they still managed to attain their current levels, which showed that the seven overlord continents weren't all talks. The remaining geniuses were originally downhearted, but hearing the sect master's words made them feel better. Although the seven overlord continents couldn't compare to the real Mainland, they were still above five star forces. It wasn't completely bad to join them.
"There will be a Banquet in three days, and everyone is invited to come. The banquet will be held at the Thunder Sky Sect, and the gates of the Thunder Sky Sect will be open to all in three days. New disciples will also be accepted in three days." After adding this, the thunder sky sect master returned to his seat and nodded at the other six Overlords. The envoys already weren't interested in being here any longer.
They had gotten what they came to do, and many of them were satisfied with the geniuses they got, especially the seven overlord geniuses. Although many of them would occasionally throw regretful glances at Long Feng, no one actually approached him. The envoys began to vanish. Many of the geniuses stared down at the Hundred Divisions Battle Stage and couldn't hide the pride on their faces. From this moment henceforth, they were worlds apart from normal geniuses. They would soon become true geniuses of the Mainland!
Many of them stared at Long Feng gloatingly. So what if he was an overlord? So what is his combat power was terrifying? So what if his talent was truly astonishing? All of those didn't matter as long as he was confined to the backwater Continent Zone. He would slowly waste his potential and become a trash just like everyone else while they would soar into the sky, becoming deities and Dao realm masters. Jin Bao had a frown on his face as he stared at Long Feng.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. He had fought Long Feng personally, and he was absolutely sure that Long Feng wasn't using any underhanded means. It was his true strength. If he could see that, then the envoys should also easily notice that. Why then?
"Jin Bao, don't bother about anything. When we get to the Berserk Mountain Sect, you'll truly unlock the potential of your body. I assure you that in a few years, defeating a deity with your body alone would be a piece of cake." An extremely burly man beside Jin Bao spoke in a booming voice. He had a gruesome face and his veins wriggled like worms on his thick arms. Jin Bao was already huge, but this man was even scarier. He was as huge as Jin Bao using his body tempering skills to become bigger.
And this was the man's natural form. Jin Bao's eyes turned respectful as he nodded.
"Yes master." He quickly threw the thought of Long Feng out of his mind and imagined himself in five years defeating deities easily… he couldn't wait. Long Feng watched the envoys disappear alongside the geniuses they chose. Just then, he received a voice transmission, "Long Feng, the Genius Meeting is a week from now. I truly hope you'll make it." Long Feng winced, recognizing this to be Lei Jie's voice. He smiled bitterly again and watched the entire floating stand fade away as silently as it appeared.
He sighed and flew off the stage, taking note of the gazes fixed on him. He spotted the Yihua clan's group in the distance and he paused. After hesitating for a minute, he shook his head and flew in a different direction, merging into the thousands of crowds.
"Why didn't he come over?" Gongsun Hao asked with a frown.
"Of course he wouldn't. We'll be nothing but a burden. And he'll also implicate us." The Misty Mountain's Master replied calmly.
"But…" Gongsun began again, but the Yihua clan's Great Elder interrupted.
"Forget it. Let's just hope he leaves safely. We will be of no help to him." They were right. Long Feng hadn't approached them because he wasn't willing to implicate them, and they would prove to be a burden as well. Li Yue'er was extremely safe with a powerful envoy. That was all that mattered to him. Long Feng wasn't really worried about the others. He didn't have any relation with them.
The crowd had began to disperse in all directions and Long Feng took this opportunity to leave, trying to decide whether to head towards the huge teleportation formation. He was well aware that joining the crowd was a dumb tactic. Cultivators had perception, and some had soul power. They could simply lock onto him. Nevertheless, he also didn't believe that anyone would be foolhardy enough to make a move here. Perhaps no one would even dare to attack him while he was still on the Thunder Sky Continent?
He had no idea. An hour later, the thousands of people had completely dispersed. Long Feng was pushing the Second Firmament Step to the limit of what he could use, moving towards the teleportation formation. He wasn't planning to return to the Yihua continent just yet; that would be waking straight into the tiger's den. If would be safer for him to teleport somewhere random and wait for a while before returning.
As he was thinking, he suddenly frowned, sensing several auras approaching from far away through his soul power. He furrowed his brows and raised his speed, but he still couldn't widen the distance. The auras were inching closer and soon, he could tell their exact numbers.
"Seven people… two rank three Imperial, four rank two and a single rank one Imperial." Their line up surprised and confused him. He expected that the strong cultivators could catch up anytime. He imagined several scenarios, but he didn't expect just a small group of low level Imperial Masters to come after him. Also, what piqued his interest was how exactly they found him. The thunder sky continent was truly large.
It wasn't possible for him to be found so quickly unless they'd been paying close attention to him the whole time. He hesitated for a while then came to a decision and stopped moving.
"My remaining spirit energy will be just enough to handle them." He muttered. Even then, he tried to gather more spirit energy quickly. He decided to wait because running wasn't a plausible option. They had greater reserve of Imperial energy and could chase after him for a day without resting, while he would run out within hours. Even in a fight, he had end it quickly otherwise he would be left defenseless when his spirit energy was exhausted. Most Importantly, he was confident that he could handle them.
If it was a rank five Imperial realm master, then he would have to think of another way or resort to using his trump card to escape. And beyond that? He couldn't handle rank six and above Imperials at all yet. Surviving alone would be out of the question. Take Huang Fang Hao for example, he could easily defeat any overlord with a single attack and even kill them if he didn't hold back, including Long Feng. The seven auras rushed over and soon arrived, revealing themselves to be seven men.
If the two rank three Imperials leading them, one was a skinny old man while the other other was a middle aged man with a grotesque face and a large boil on his left cheek. The others were all middle aged. They immediately surrounded Long Feng upon their arrival, keeping him in their center and stared at him with gazes that mixed caution, excitement, fear and greed together.
"Kid, why did you stop?" The old rank three Imperial asked. He was old and had lots of experience. He naturally wouldn't let greed completely blind his eyes. He found Long Feng's act of pausing to be strange and decided against making a move immediately.
"Why? Didn't you rush all the way to find me? Why asking stupid questions now?" Long Feng replied calmly.
"Heh. It seems like even overlord geniuses know when to be realistic and accept their situations. Follow us to meet our master and you may live" the other rank three Imperial spoke, revealing yellowish teeth in a smile.
"Master?" Long Feng repeated with a raised brow. Who in his right senses would take an old man about to die as a disciple?
"It's not what you think kid. I don't mind explaining. We all swore allegiance to our master to serve him."
"Oh. I get it. You mean you guys are servants?" Long Feng asked curiously. The faces of the seven men darkened as they glared at him.
"Damn you kid. You dare to call us servants?"
"I mean, that's what you meant right?" Long Feng scratched his head and asked again. It would appear that they didn't particularly like to be called servants. But that was exactly what they were to Long Feng. He was also curious about this master of theirs. He should be pretty powerful to make Imperial masters serve under him.
"We don't have much time. Others could arrive at any minute." A rank two Imperial said. They definitely wouldn't be the only people searching for Long Feng.
"Kid, enough of this. Come with us to meet our master! And if you dare to resist…" The old man spat coldly, glaring at Long Feng. One would wonder what exactly gave them the courage to face an overlord genius who defeated other rank three Imperial realm overlord. They had also witnessed Long Feng's feat, and they believed his strength didn't reach the rank four Imperial level. If so, then two rank three Imperials should be enough to suppress him, and more rank two Imperials should defeat him.
In truth, their mission was merely to find him. The strongest cultivators searching for Long Feng right there rank six Imperials. The order they received was to quickly inform the stronger Imperials immediately they spotted Long Feng. But when they found him, they got greedier and decided to capture him alone. That way, they would be rewarded by the master and have higher ranking among his several servants. It wasn't a rare thing for wandering or secluded powerhouses to form a group of followers.
Several deities had imperials servicing under them. Even Dao realm masters who didn't wish to join a force or start one of their own could simply promise protection to some imperials and deities to serve them. If these seven had informed a stronger Imperial, then the credit would be taken from them. It would normally be possible for them to subdue a rank three imperial, a perfect plan to gain more attention from their master. But this time, there was one mistake. This wasn't a rank three Imperial.
This was Long Feng.
