A brief silence followed Lei Jie's words, then a young man stood up and walked to the center of the hall, then clasped his fists around with a gentle smile.
"I am Jia Yun of the Grand Ocean Continent. I am a rank nine spirit realm warrior. Any fellow cultivator at the same level is welcome to accept my challenge!" It didn't take long for someone else to walk out and face the youth names Jia Yun. He was also a peak spirit realm warrior. The two exchanged pleasantries before beginning to spar. It really was just a spar because they were holding back about fifty percent of their full power. Anymore than that would be uncalled for.
Their fight was mainly to exchange views and find out their weaknesses against others. At the end, Jia Yun won by a hair's breath. If they were to fight seriously, then it was very likely to end in a tie. After their battle, Lei Jie stood up and casually pointed out some of their flaws and gave them advices each before sitting back down. More and more geniuses sparred against each other and Lei Jie pointed out the flaws for each and every person, giving them advice on what to do as well.
Sometimes, the youths would propose a Dao spar instead, where they would spar with just their Daos and decide the winner. The weakest present were peak spirit realm warriors. Rank one and two Imperials all exchanged pointers as well, severely suppressing ninety percent of their strengths to avoid destroying the hall. Some of the overlord geniuses even stepped out and fought once or twice. The genius meeting proceeded peacefully and the spars continued for almost an hour.
Suddenly, as two youths were fighting, a loud applause echoed throughout the hall, startling many people. Lei Jie's expression changed and he glanced at Dong Fang solemly.
"They're here..." he murmured.
"Hehehehe, this is so hilarious, I don't even know what to say. You bunch of trashes are the best the continent zone has? What a waste of my time." A mocking voice sounded as a group of youths walked into the hall. They were all dressed in lavish clothing and all emanated extremely powerful auras. The youths consisted of both males and females, and each and every single one of them was an Imperial. They walked in slowly, staring at the geniuses present with mocking expressions.
The person who was clapping and spoke was a handsome young man in the lead with sharp facial features.
"Brother Lu Jian, you're overestimating them. Calling this hilarious is giving them credit. It's so boring that I nearly fell asleep." Someone else replied.
"Exactly. I mean, their moves are so pathetic, their attacks might as well be a clown show. They call themselves geniuses? Oh please."
"What can we expect from these backwater trashes? They really believe that they're great. I almost feel sorry for them." The expressions of the continent zone's geniuses slowly changed untill they were all ugly. At this point, everyone knew who the new comers were. Geniuses of the Mainland! They may not be the best geniuses, or the strongest. They might even be the weakest geniuses in the mainland, but here, they were absolutely astounding. Even the weakest among them was a rank three Imperial!
That alone eliminated ninety percent of the continent zone's geniuses. They didn't even have the guts to speak. It must be known that only the eight overlord geniuses had reached rank three Imperial realm and above! That meant the overlord geniuses were not even worth mentioning in this group! And there were stronger geniuses among them. The continent zone's geniuses were unable to even sense the cultivation of many of them. This caused them all to feel astonished and frightening, not daring to speak back.
The youths slowly walked in and stood in a corner of the hall, watching the genius meeting as though they were really watching a clown show.
"Go ahead and entertain us. We're just here to spectate!" The youth named Lu Jian smiled faintly and spoke. The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings. He was among the unfathomable geniuses present, and no one could sense an ounce of his energy. Not even Huang Fang Hao gave them this feeling. After a few minutes' silence, Lei Jie calmed down and stood up.
"Continue." The spars resumed, but they were much less interesting, especially with the Mainland's geniuses constantly pointing fingers and making mocking remarks while laughing.
"Ah. You all are boring me to death here! What is this? A pillow fight? You call this a spar?" One of the Mainland's genius mocked loudly with a yawn. Then he casually walked out and stood in the center of the hall.
"I'm bored. I need to stretch a bit. Let's see how many of you I'll need to beat it feel better. By the way, I am a rank three Imperial, so weaklings shouldn't bother coming!" Several continent zone's geniuses felt their rage bubbling in their hearts. If it wasn't for the deterrent effect caused by the youths strength, them many of them would have rushed out and sent him flying already. Unfortunately... The words rank three Imperial weighed on everyone's heart like a stone. This was the weakest level among them!
Yet only the overlord geniuses could compare. The difference could already be seen. A brief silence followed as everyone turned to the eight overlord geniuses seated with serious expressions. After a while, Ping Ran stood up and walked to the center slowly, facing the youth.
"I am Ping Ran, a rank three Imperial as well." He clasped his fists as they always did before starting a spar. The youth barely glanced at him. He yawned and waved his hand.
"Hurry up and get this over with." Ping Ran's expression turned sour. This was a great slap to his face. He had taken the initiative to greet and introduce himself, only for his opponent to disregard him and refuse to introduce himself as well. This was an insult to Ping Ran; completely disdain. Ping Ran's pride wouldn't let him endure such an insult from a fellow youth. He snorted and moved, vanishing and appearing behind the youth.
His curved saber had appeared in his grasp at some point and he swung it adeptly at the youths back.
"Fading Clouds Sky splitting saber!" Ping Ran naturally wouldn't underestimate his opponent. He didn't make a probing strike and instead attacked with a powerful strike off the bat. The youth barely reacted even as the saber descended upon his back. The continent zone's geniuses began to smile, already seeing this arrogant youth laying on the ground in defeat. The saber finally sliced through the youth and surprisingly, it simply went through his figure.
Ping Ran was startled, then his expression changed and he turned around midair instantly and positioned his saber before his chest on reflex. BOOM! A powerful shockwave spread and Ping Ran was flung away like a ragdoll, coughing up some blood with a pale expression. His saber also flew out of his grasp as he landed heavily on the floor. The youth slowly withdrew his fist and snorted coldly.
"What a waste of my time. If this is the strength of your so called overlord geniuses, then it looks like I'll be beating all of you here today." The continent zone's geniuses were all astounded and couldn't understand what just happened. Weren't they both rank three Imperials? How did the youth defeat Ping Ran so easily? All he needed was a simple punch!
"Hm, who's next? Please send someone stronger. I don't mind. Whoever's coming, just make sure you don't collapse after one punch. That'll be boring." The youth spoke again, causing the continent zone's geniuses to fell great rage. They all wanted nothing more than to give this youth a solid beating and hack him into two pieces. Long Feng's heart was beating fast as he replayed the scene of Ping Ran losing to a single fist.
"This youth... how's that possible?" Even Long Feng wouldn't dare to claim that he could defeat this youth. The power to defeat Ping Ran with a single punch was something he didn't possess before, and even now, it was questionable.
"Hmm? Is there no one among you? Or did I scare you all? I'm sorry. Alright, whoever comes next, I'll hold back. I promise." The youth gazed upon the continent zone's geniuses and smirked, his eyes dripping with disdain.
"Don't go too far!" Jin Bao stood up and roared in his loud voice. He couldn't take the insults any longer. The youth glanced at him and grinned.
"You want to talk? Defeat me first. Otherwise, sit down and listen obediently like the trash you are." Jin Bao's face turned black, yet he really didn't dare to step forward. Ping Ran was slightly stronger than him, yet he was defeated with a single punch. Even with Jin Bao's tough body, he didn't believe he would withstand that fist.
"Fall back!" Lu Jian finally opened his mouth and spoke faintly. The youth's expression instantly changed to one of pure respect as he returned to the back of the group. Then Lu Jian glanced at the continent zone's geniuses indifferently.
"None of you here are worth my time. The only person whom I wanted to meet was that Huang Fang Hao. And even he piqued my interest with his annoying confidence. I wanted to beat down that confidence a level or two and show him just how tiny he was to me." He slowly smiled.
"I really am nothing much in the mainland. I'll be honest with you, none of us here are geniuses back in our sects. We're just above average disciples." He added. His confession caused the minds of many of the youths listening to go blank. Lu Jian didn't pause or bother about their expressions. He slowly continued.
"You can understand how I feel when I come to this backwater place and find a group of clowns calling themselves geniuses, a title I don't fully deserve even now. It is quite frankly... annoying."
"You're all far too arrogant for your own good. You think you're something? You think you will amount to anything in the mainland? There are millions of people like you in the mainland, walking the streets. Your arrogance and pride are laughable, and it'll cause you nothing but misery and suffering in the mainland."
"I am here for two reasons. One, to show you that you don't deserve the title of geniuses, and two, to show you just how insignificant you all are; to show you that your pride are nothing but foolish ignorance." Lu Jian finally stopped and walked forward. Every step he took seemed to land on the heart of the continent zone's geniuses, and everyone of them, including the overlord geniuses, felt as though a mountain was resting upon their shoulders, getting heavier as Lu Jian approached.
"I'll broaden your horizons today. One move! One palm strike. I won't use my Dao, nor any skill. Just one casual palm thrust at half my power. If a single one of you still stands after that, then I'll acknowledge him as a genius and recompensate you all with one low rank mortal grade Dao skill." He said gently. The Continent Zone's geniuses instantly exploded with rage. This wasn't just disdain or disregard. This was pure humiliation! He was trying to humiliate them all! Who among them wasn't a proud talent?
They all grew up in powerful forces in the continent zone and were nurtured using the best resources available. They were innately proud, all of them. Not even Huang Fang Hao would dare to challenge all top fifty geniuses, even if he had ten times the guts. That was because the combined strengths of so many geniuses would force when a peak Imperial to halt and rethink. Yet this youth was saying he would defeat them all with a single casual palm strike? If this wasn't humiliation, what was?
If this could be swallowed and endured, then who were they to call themselves proud talents?
"You're going too far! How dare you look down on us!"
"Everyone, let's work together and show this bastard where he is. He said it himself. They're merely above average in the Mainland! And they think they can come over here and dominate us? Hmph!"
"Come on you son of a b*tch! I dare you! Make a move!" Lu Jian calmly listened to the taunts and insults without a change in his expression, but his eyes suddenly grew icy. He smiled coldly and nodded.
"Very well. Here I come!"
"Everyone, use your full strength! Take out your trump cards if you have to! Don't underestimate him!" Lei Jie sent this message to everyone via voice transmission. They all listened, including Long Feng. His instincts were actually acting up at this moment! Long Feng's instincts were frighteningly accurate and had saved him from danger a few times already. It wasn't severe this time, but he had a feeling similar to when he was facing deities, just much weaker. He didn't plan to hold back at all.
He gathered his full demon sword energy and used it to unleash the earth Firmament strike, releasing a much more powerful strike than he had ever done. All the other geniuses attacked as well, using their hidden cards, all directed at Lu Jian. This barrage of attacks would nearly kill even Huang Fang Hao. Hell, even a peak Imperial would rather dodge than face them head on. Yet that was exactly what Lu Jian did. He didn't dodge. Even if he wanted to, there was no space to dodge.
He slowly raised his hand and thrust out a palm, slow and casual as he said he would. The natural energy of the hall instantly fell into disorder. A massive palm rapidly formed, exuding such a powerful aura that nearly surpassed the limit of the Imperial realm. The palm completely destroyed all the attacks that collided against it and barely dimmed as it continued on it's path, towards the group of dumbstruck youths. They realized that... they had underestimated this youth and overestimated themselves.
Or, they had underestimated the terror of the Mainland's geniuses. This wasn't power a normal junior should wield. This power was a single gap away from the Deity Realm! They didn't stand a chance at all.
"Defend yourselves!" Lei Jie shouted just before the palm arrived. A massive shockwave exploded through the hall, shaking the entire building and blasting open the roof of the hall. Cracks spread on the floor and some of the pillars supporting the hall shattered to pieces. A thick cloud of dust completely covered the scene, hiding the situation of the continent zone's geniuses from everyone.
