Dear Diary, If the past forty eight hours or so is any indication, I must really love being a mom, and love my kids, because the eventual urge to do like Chronos started pulling at me by the end of the day. Okay, part of me thinks that I shouldn't even joke about something like that, but my frustration level is clearly indicated by how while I definitely would never do such a thing, I cannot find it in my heart to feel incredibly bad about the momentary impulse.
The worst part is that no matter how much I paid attention and tried to be sure none of them were doing masterclass troll shit like deliberately fucking with the others to start the debate up again when it got close to settled, I didn't notice that happening even once. I even tagged Saffron in for a mental assist midafternoon, and after watching for like an hour, she just sighed into my brain. This is nothing that can't be explained by fifteen girls, eight of whom are literally feline.
You might need to dictate something. Yeah, I don't want to force them into something, or we'll hear nothing but bitching from now until we both retire to our cottage by the sea. You remembered! Never gonna forget that, Kitten. Love you too much. I got the sensation of a warm hug, then she thought, perhaps give them a time limit? Yeah. Yeah, I can do that. Thanks, Kitten.
So since they hadn't settled on a roommate configuration by the time dinner rolled around, I reached out and picked each of them up, then arranged them around me where I stood on the roof of East House.
"Okay, girls. You know there's no limit to my love for you all, but there is a limit to both my patience and how long we have before you wind up with another sister."
"We nad take dad long," Menace scoffed.
"Yeah, well. You've been going round and round for the past two days, and haven't decided yet. You haven't even taken any breaks to do anything fun. So here's what we're gonna do. No room talk at dinner, no room talk in the Bath, and no room talk before bed. But tomorrow first thing we're gonna get together, and you'll have an hour to pick."
"An hour?" Ria looked genuinely a little upset. I sighed, shook my head, then said, "okay, fine, you can have until lunch time. But after lunch we're gonna go talk to the makers about your furniture, and they're gonna need to know how much room they've got, how many beds you'll need, how big they need to be, what other furniture you need, all that good stuff." Amazingly, I didn't get any pushback.
But during dinner, while Saffron and I sat there, her exhausted by wrangling seven nominal adults, me by wrangling fifteen kids, Ria drifted over to the table.
"Mama?"
"What do you need, Ria?" She looked a little doubtful, but when I reached out a hand and gently touched her shoulder, she nodded and squared her shoulder.
"About earlier." I shook my head.
"I'm sorry, kiddo. I didn't mean to look upset. You're right, I can handle another morning of bickering, so long as there's an end to it."
"Oh, no. That's not it at all, Mama." That took me by surprise, and without thinking I blurted out, "so what is it then?"
"How would we measure an hour?" Yeah, I couldn't help it. I softened my reaction a little by scooping her up and hugging her, but I broke down laughing. Midway through my maybe hysterical, maybe hilarious laughter, I looked to Saffron, who shook her head and said, "okay, okay, we'll get a clock."
"Two?" asked Ria.
"Why?" Saffron's question could have been accusatory, but I don't think she had the energy for that.
"One for here in the dining room and kitchen, another for upstairs in the bedroom." Unable to resist, I asked, "what about the Bath?"
"Don't be silly, Mama. A clock would rust in the Bath." Yeah, I forget things aren't plastic here and now. Or electronic. Or any other kind of ic. Almost, but didn't quite, fall asleep staring at the boys, where they played with the girls and Liam on the far side of the tub. Kinda noticed Sarah off to one side, sitting with little D on her lap, letting him giggle and splash at the water while watching whatever the kids were doing.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it. I say 'almost' fell asleep, but that's kind of a lie. One moment I was watching the boys, the next Lachlan touched my shoulder gently.
"Pardon Imperator, Commander, but your Wife and Concubines have taken our children off to bed, if you'd like our assistance getting you there?" I looked up at Lachlan, realized that I was drooling for more than one reason, looked over at Saffron, who gave me one of those speaking looks that it warmed my heart to understand. One that said without a single word that she wanted, but could not even muster the energy to reply. I blinked owlishly at Carruthers, who stood ready to help Saffron much as Lachlan did to me.
I took her hand, and said, "pick us up, please?"
"Of course, Commander." He lifted me as Linus lifted Saffron; the moment we were all in contact I shifted us to the Bedroom.
"C'mon, Lachlan. Our names are Saffron and Tabitha. Say our names." He glanced at the Bed, then looked back to me, grinning.
"Are you sure you don't mean 'scream our names'?" I chuckled, then rolled out of his arms onto the bed, landing with my hips on the padded end.
"Yeah, be a little disappointed if I hear that."
"Why?" Poor man looked almost upset. Couldn't leave bro hanging like that.
"Because I'm hoping I'll pass out from orgasm overdose before you start doing that." He looked a little eager, a little uncertain, and Carruthers mirrored him with a side order of confusion, so I clarified.
"In no particular order, fuck us until you scream our names, fuck us until we pass out, don't stop until both of those things are true. Full enthusiastic Consent given. We're just exhausted and can't let go enough to sleep." Lachlan chuckled, and the padding at the end of the bed might have got a little damp.
"Do you mind if we swap?" I rolled my head back and forth, grinning at both of them.
"Ain't neither of us got enough energy to do more than lie here and respond to your manly Skills." A sudden burst of guilt made me add, "you don't mind, do you?" He glanced down, my eyes followed, and I chuckled.
"Guess not. So how do you wanna..." I shut the hell up, because Linus had flopped Saffron on top of me. Sorta ruined the view, because ain't nobody looks as stupidly sexy as they ought from a distance of half a hair from their inner thighs. Reminded that I find the smell of the deed being done as intoxicating as the sight of it, which only got better when Saffron piped the feel of Lachlan kissing her into my brain hole simultaneous with Linus entering her not brain hole. Kinda lost track not long after that.
I think my mouth got involved. Pretty sure. Cannot say I was actually disappointed in hearing Carruthers scream 'Saffron' at the top of his lungs, because simultaneous with that I felt Lachlan doing the same into Saffron's mouth while she gleefully let go of consciousness mid-orgasm. Surrounded by the smell and feel of my Wife and our favorite boys, I followed her example. Funny listening to the debate between the ladies in my Maw watching the big screen.
Karen thought Lachlan wasn't hairy enough, Saffron pointed out he's way hairier than he looks, it's just fine and light enough you can't see it, just feel it. She waxed eloquent about how it felt rubbing on stiff nips, and I kinda wanted to concur. Best I could do was wrap a tentacle around her, then bobblehead her for a moment before I gave in and dragged my soup dumpling down into the depths, never to be seen again, or at least until she popped up to defend Lachlan's hairiness.
Marie and Tallulah both claimed dibs. Siobhan seemed a little put out, confusing the others until she pointed out that she was envious of Lachlan, not us. Good clean fun for everybody. Woke up before dawn when the boys started stirring, needing the toilet something fierce apparently. We all got cleaned up, then I dragged the boys and Liam along for Room Day.
I left Liam overseeing the artwork on the doors after lunch while Linus and I walked each set of girls over to South House, where most of the craftier women lived. By the end of the day, they had their roommates chosen and painted on their doors, in both text and silhouette. Surprising no one, Anise and Felicia took the room next to Alex, and each wanted their own bed. Borysthenis, Calliope, and Erato all went in together and got a single bed, but big enough to fit them all if they all wound up Marie's size.
They took the next room down from Anise and Felicia, the one right across from Maze. Neither Isadora nor Hailee really seemed too eager to stop sleeping in our big round bed, but they picked the room between Maze and Davey, and got a set of bunkbeds that stretched all the way across the back of the room. Unless Isadora wound up over ten feet tall, she'd still be able to sleep in it as an adult.
The fact that I had to wonder if she would is testament to the fact that she's almost my height now, and shows no sign of stopping. The final kit, Garde, surprised everyone except, apparently, Lindsey and Davey when she asked to room with the Girliest of Girls. Davey seemed stoked by it, so I wasn't gonna argue, but as the day wore to an end with Carruthers, Davey, Garde, and I walking back from the crafter's workshops, I asked.
"Girls? Mind if I ask why?"
"Why what, Mama?" Davey asked while walking hand in hand with her sister, who'd caught up and surpassed her in height already. I thought for a second.
"Well, I know Garde has been working with Lindsey with her collections, so I kinda thought she'd room with her." Davey and Garde looked at one another, giggled, and shook their heads.
"No, Mama."
"She's Private." Kinda weird, but Garde seemed to have recently inherited her Mom's way of talking. She didn't speak a lot, but when she did? Totally intoned that shit, almost like doors slamming shut. Or no, not slamming. Clicking shut with the kind of finality I associated with really good locks.
"Okay, so no rooming with Lindsey, but I'm a little surprised?" When they looked at me, confused, I said, "you're kinda quiet, and Davey's kinda not?" Davey shook her head, gave her sister a quick glance and got a nod, then said, "Garde doesn't not like people. She just doesn't like being loud. And... She gets me?" I shook my head.
"Okay. Just so long as you're both okay with it?"
"We are, Mama."
"We Are." So cute. They reminded me of somebody, my little Girliest of Girls and her Gothic Lolita sister, but I couldn't fuckin' remember who. Then again, it really didn't matter who they reminded me of. They were my girls, they were happy, and that's all that mattered.
