Chương 116: Students Who Stay
MHA: Scar Tissue Hero · JuliusA · 124 chương · ~48 phút đọc · Tạo 28/08/2026
Staying was easy only when nothing was moving. That was the lie. Everyone learned it in the protected lecture room while adults moved through the building with quiet urgency and the walls kept too many sounds away. No sirens. No alarms. No running footsteps they could point to and call proof. Just messages sent through staff tablets, doors checked twice, security seals confirmed, distant elevator chimes swallowed before they became useful to panic. The room had no windows. That was deliberate.
It also had too many chairs, too much space between them, and a front display that remained black because U. A. had decided information would arrive from adults before screens, rumors, or fear could make themselves official. Bakugo hated the room immediately. That did not make the room special. He hated many rooms. This one deserved it. He sat because Aizawa had ordered him to sit and because everyone had watched him sit, which made standing again feel like losing to furniture.
His fingers twitched against his knees. Tiny sparks snapped once, then died when Kirishima looked at his hands instead of his face. Bakugo glared. Kirishima did not apologize. Good. Apologies were everywhere lately, crawling around like pests. Bakugo hated them too. Across the room, Midoriya's medical screen was mounted on a reinforced stand. He looked worse than he probably wanted anyone to see. Pale. Bandaged. One arm immobilized.
Inko's shoulder visible at the edge of the frame because the camera angle had been negotiated by a mother, not by school staff. He was not physically in the room, but his fear was. It sat beside Bakugo's anger like a second useless body. Shinso sat near the wall, not with Class 1-A and not entirely apart from them. His posture said he had chosen the location strategically. His face said nothing. His hands were loose over his knees. That bothered Bakugo almost as much as if he had been pacing.
People who stayed too still were either calm or making sure they did not break something. Bakugo knew the second type. Iida stood at the front of the room beside Kurose, back straight, arms at his sides, as if posture could become a legal document if maintained hard enough. Aizawa had given the first briefing and then left to final coordination. Kurose remained. Hound Dog remained. Cementoss had sealed two exterior exits with polite concrete because apparently walls now required adult supervision.
The first ten minutes after the briefing were silent. Not peaceful. Silent like a held breath no one owned. Kaminari broke first.
"This sucks" Jiro closed her eyes.
"Insightful""No, I mean it sucks in a specific way" Sero leaned back and looked at the ceiling.
"Go on, Professor Specific Suck" Kaminari pointed at the black display.
"There is a massive adult operation happening, probably involving All For One, maybe Ragdoll, definitely All Might, and we are sitting in a room where even the chairs look like they signed confidentiality agreements" Mina's laugh came out wrong. Too high. Too wet. She covered it with both hands.
"Sorry" Kurose's voice came from the front.
"No sorry before alive" Mina froze. Then nodded hard. Bakugo looked away. The phrase had spread like fungus. Useful fungus. Still fungus. Iida adjusted his glasses.
"We have been given clear instructions because our involvement would increase risk" Kaminari turned toward him.
"I know that in my brain. My legs did not receive the memo" Uraraka sat beside Asui, hands locked together in her lap. Her knuckles were pale.
"My legs got the memo and they hate it" Asui nodded.
"Mine too" Todoroki stared at the black display.
"Motion would feel better because it would give fear a direction" The room looked at him. He blinked.
"What?" Sero said "That was extremely Todoroki" Jiro muttered "And unfortunately accurate" Shinso spoke without lifting his head.
"Fear with direction can still run off a cliff" Iida flinched. Not visibly to everyone. Bakugo saw. So did Aizawa's ghost, probably. Iida turned toward Shinso.
"You are correct" Shinso looked up then.
"I was not aiming at you""I know""Do you?" Iida's jaw tightened. Then he inhaled.
"No" The honesty landed heavily. The room changed around it. Iida looked at his hands.
"I know what it is to move because standing still feels like betrayal" No one spoke. Midoriya's face on the screen twisted. Bakugo saw it and looked away because looking made his own chest worse. Iida continued "At Hosu, I believed motion would become justice if my pain was strong enough. It did not. It became a route for more harm" His hands shook once. He held them still.
"So I will say what I needed someone to say with enough force that I could hear it. Motion is not automatically rescue" Silence. Then Asui said softly "That sounds like something Ren would write on the wall" Kaminari whispered "Mina, new sign?" Mina wiped her eyes.
"Later" Bakugo's teeth clicked together.
"Wall signs are not rescue either""No" Kirishima said Bakugo looked at him. Kirishima looked back.
"But they helped him know the room was still his" Bakugo wanted to snap. The words rose. Weak. Stupid. Sentimental garbage. They did not leave his mouth. Because the machine lost card had helped. He knew it had. Akiyama had seen it. Kurose had said he had smiled. The stupid sign had done something the approved wall pad could not do and Bakugo hated that because it meant softness sometimes hit harder than explosions. He looked at the black display.
"Whatever" Kirishima accepted the victory by not naming it. Smart. Maybe he was learning. Kurose stepped forward.
"The operation has begun its outer phase. Civilian evacuation is under cover. That is all I can say now" Kaminari's leg started bouncing faster. Jiro reached over and put one hand on his knee.
"Stop before you vibrate through the floor" He stopped. Mostly. Midoriya's voice came through the screen.
"Is All Might already there?" Kurose looked at him.
"No" Midoriya's shoulders dropped by a millimeter. Relief. Temporary. Cruel. Kurose continued "His operational time is being conserved. He will not deploy until direct engagement requires him" Bakugo's eyes narrowed.
"Because Akiyama told him" Kurose looked toward him.
"Because evidence, medical limits, tactical planning, and Ren's warning all point to the same conclusion" Bakugo hated the answer because it was too reasonable to fight. He fought it anyway.
"So Scar Boy gets kidnapped and now everyone listens?" The room froze. Kirishima turned sharply.
"Bakugo" Bakugo stood before he meant to. His chair scraped back. Sparks cracked.
"I did not say it was his fault!" Kurose did not move.
"I heard what you said""No, you heard what you wanted" Aizawa's voice came from the doorway.
"No. She heard you being angry at the wrong target" Everyone turned. Aizawa stood in the entrance, scarf around his shoulders, eyes tired and merciless. He had clearly arrived silently enough to be unfair, which was his favorite teaching method. Bakugo glared.
"I'm not making him the target""You called him Scar Boy in a room where we just told you he was medically unstable after forced grafting" Bakugo's jaw locked. The sparks died. Aizawa walked in.
"Sit" Bakugo did not. Aizawa's eyes narrowed.
"Sit before standing becomes a worse confession than talking" Bakugo sat. Hard. The chair survived. Barely. Aizawa crossed his arms.
"You are angry because the enemy chose categories and you cannot punch a category" Bakugo said nothing.
"That is accurate anger. Then you aimed it at the person easiest to name" Bakugo looked down. His hands shook. Not fear. Not only fear. Rage held in teeth. Aizawa continued "Ren did not replace you as a target. You did not fail to be kidnapped. He did not become more important because someone stole him. Villains selecting one child over another is not a ranking system you have to win" Bakugo's head snapped up.
"I know that""No. You know the sentence. Your body has not accepted it" Bakugo opened his mouth. Closed it. Aizawa looked at the rest of the room.
"That applies to all of you. Midoriya, your body is not a launch point. Uraraka, guilt is not a permit. Iida, discipline is not self-punishment. Shinso, usefulness is not rent. Todoroki, silence is not always restraint. Kaminari, nervous energy is not information. Mina, making people laugh does not require you to hide when you are scared. Kirishima, being strong for everyone does not mean becoming a wall with hair" Kirishima blinked.
"Wall with hair?" Sero whispered "Accurate" Kirishima looked deeply wounded. Aizawa ignored him.
"Class 1-A, and everyone else in this room, your assignment is to stay. Not wait. Stay. There is a difference" Momo, who had been silent near the second row, raised her hand slowly. Aizawa looked at her.
"Yes""What does staying require?" The room listened. Aizawa's expression did not change.
"First. You do not move toward the operation. Second. You do not spread or chase rumors. Third. You remain available to receive verified information. Fourth. You keep each other from becoming additional incidents. Fifth. If a public broadcast begins, you watch together or not at all, under staff supervision. Sixth. You do not turn All Might's fight into your personal debt before he has even thrown the punch" You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
Midoriya's face went white on the screen. Aizawa looked directly at him.
"I mean you" Midoriya swallowed.
"Yes, sir" Bakugo muttered "Of course he means Deku" Aizawa's gaze slid back.
"And you" Bakugo's shoulders tensed.
"You will not interpret All Might's public battle as proof that you were bait, failure, prize, replacement, or anything else your ego builds to avoid fear" Bakugo's eyes flashed.
"That is not—" Aizawa stepped closer.
"It is fear" Bakugo went silent. Aizawa's voice lowered.
"Fear with volume is still fear" The room took that in. Bakugo looked at the floor. His hands were fists now. No sparks. Shinso said from the wall "That one should go on a sign" Bakugo's head snapped toward him.
"Shut up, eyebags" Shinso's mouth curved faintly.
"There he is" Bakugo looked like he might throw the chair. He did not. Progress, apparently. Aizawa said "Kurose" Kurose stepped beside him.
"I am taking the student wing rotation for the first operation phase. Kurose stays here. Hound Dog remains support. Cementoss keeps exits sealed unless staff moves you. You are not prisoners. You are students under active threat containment" Kaminari raised his hand halfway.
"That feels prisoner-adjacent" Kurose answered before Aizawa could.
"Yes. That is why we will keep naming the difference instead of pretending you do not feel it" Kaminari lowered his hand.
"Okay. Weirdly better" Aizawa looked at Kurose like he hated that she was better at some sentences. Then he left. The room did not become easier after that. It became clearer. That was not the same thing. Clarity had edges. Bakugo stayed seated for twelve minutes. Then thirteen. Then fourteen. On minute fifteen, he stood. Kirishima tensed. Bakugo glared at him.
"Bathroom" Kurose looked up.
"Escorted""I can piss without a babysitter""Not during active threat containment" Bakugo's face twisted.
"I am not going to run" Kurose looked at him for a long second.
"I believe you. You still get escorted" That stopped him more effectively than suspicion would have. He looked away.
"Fine" Hound Dog moved toward the door. Bakugo stopped.
"Not him" Hound Dog's smile showed too many teeth. Kurose said "Iida" Iida stood immediately. Bakugo glared.
"No" Iida looked back.
"Yes" The room held its breath. Bakugo's jaw worked. Then he walked toward the door. Iida followed. Hound Dog watched them both like he could smell bad decisions before they formed. The door opened only after Cementoss unsealed it. In the hallway, Bakugo walked fast enough that Iida had to lengthen his stride.
"Do not start" Iida said nothing. Bakugo hated that.
"I said do not start""I heard you""Then why are you doing that?"
"Doing what?"
"Walking like you are trying to be responsible at me" Iida considered that.
"I do not know how to walk irresponsibly in this situation" Bakugo stopped. Iida stopped too, exactly two steps behind and to the side. Bakugo did not turn.
"I was supposed to be the one" Iida's face tightened. He did not answer too fast. Bakugo's voice was low and vicious.
"The public target. The one they wanted everyone to see. The one they were going to drag into their stupid story. Then they took him instead. Hidden target. Secret target. Better target, apparently" Iida's hands closed.
"That is the math Aizawa told you to throw away" Bakugo turned.
"I know it is bad math!" The shout bounced down the hallway. Bakugo gritted his teeth and lowered his voice by force.
"I know. That does not make it shut up" Iida looked at him. The hallway lights hummed above them. Finally, Iida said "When Stain attacked my brother, I believed the world had created one equation. Hurt equals motion. Motion equals justice. Justice equals relief. None of it was true, but knowing that did not make the equation disappear immediately" Bakugo looked away.
"Great. Inspirational hallway confession. Are we done?"
"No" Bakugo scowled. Iida continued "You are not less because Ren was taken. Ren is not more because he was taken. All Might is not going tonight because you failed to be captured. He is going because adults found a villain nest" Bakugo's lip curled.
"Adults found it because Akiyama bled on furniture""Yes" That answer landed harder than comfort. Iida stepped forward.
"And he was able to do that because he stayed himself under conditions I cannot imagine. That does not make you smaller. It means we owe him the dignity of not turning his survival into our ranking system" Bakugo stared at him. Iida stared back. Then Bakugo clicked his tongue and turned toward the bathroom.
"Your speeches still piss me off""I accept that""Don't accept it politely""I accept that impolitely" Bakugo snorted. Tiny. Angry. Real. When they returned, Bakugo sat down again and did not stand for thirty-two minutes. Kirishima did not comment. No one did. That was probably why it worked. Midoriya's screen became its own crisis after the first hour. Not because he tried to leave. He could not. That was the problem. He sat in a hospital bed somewhere inside U. A.'
s medical wing, close enough to the same building and too far from every possible action. His eyes kept flicking to something off-screen, probably the door, probably Inko, probably a device he was not allowed to touch. Kurose noticed.
"Midoriya" He startled.
"Yes?"
"What are you doing?"
"Nothing" Recovery Girl was not in the room, but her spirit of disbelief passed through the screen. Kurose said "Try again" Midoriya looked down at his blankets.
"I keep thinking I should be closer" Bakugo muttered "You are on a screen. That is as close as your bones get" Midoriya flinched. Inko's hand tightened on his shoulder. Kurose looked at Bakugo. Bakugo looked away.
"Not wrong" Kurose turned back to Midoriya.
"What does closer mean?" Midoriya's mouth trembled.
"I do not know" That was worse than a plan. A plan could be stopped. This was grief looking for a shape. Midoriya continued "All Might is going to fight him. The person who hurt him. The person behind all of this. Maybe the person behind Ren's lab. Maybe Ragdoll. Maybe—" He stopped. Too many maybes. Too many doors. Kurose's voice softened by a fraction.
"Ren asked that you be told last time is not your debt" Midoriya nodded quickly.
"I know""No. Knowing is not nodding" His face crumpled.
"I know""Say what you think it means" Midoriya closed his eyes.
"That if All Might loses something tonight, I should not turn it into something I owe him by destroying myself" The room went quiet. Bakugo looked at the floor. Kurose nodded.
"That is a good start" Midoriya laughed once, broken.
"A good start is not enough" Inko's voice entered, quiet and fierce.
"It is enough for today" Midoriya looked toward her. She was not fully in frame, but the room felt her anyway. Inko continued "You are alive. He is alive. Ren is alive. All Might is alive right now. No one in this room is allowed to spend tomorrow before it happens" Midoriya covered his face with his free hand.
"I hate staying" Inko's hand moved to his hair.
"I know" Kurose said "Stay anyway" Midoriya nodded behind his hand.
"Yes" Bakugo did not look at him when he spoke.
"If All Might wins, don't make a stupid face like you are sorry he had to" Midoriya lowered his hand.
"What?" Bakugo stared at the black display.
"He hates that. Probably. Everyone hates your sorry face" Midoriya blinked. Then his eyes filled again.
"That was almost kind" Bakugo's head snapped toward the screen.
"It was not!" Kaminari whispered "It super was" Jiro said "Extremely" Bakugo pointed at both of them.
"I will kill the room" Cementoss's voice came from the sealed door speaker.
"Please do not" The room laughed. Not much. Enough to hurt. Enough to help. Shinso did not laugh. He watched the black display with narrowed eyes, one thumb pressing lightly against the side of his other hand. Not three taps. Not a line. Different habit. His own. Kurose noticed after a while. She approached without stepping too close.
"Silence is still okay" He did not look at her.
"He said that?"
"Yes""Idiot""Yes" Shinso's mouth tightened.
"I am quiet because if I talk too much, I will ask questions I do not get to ask" Kurose sat in the chair beside him, angled toward the room instead of directly toward him.
"Good distinction" He huffed.
"That is not praise""It is accurate" He watched Bakugo glaring at nothing, Midoriya trying not to cry on a screen, Iida standing like a guardrail, Uraraka and Asui whispering in low voices, Todoroki staring into the middle distance where his father's presence in the raid probably waited like weather. Shinso said "People keep wanting my Quirk when staying gets hard" Kurose nodded slowly.
"Do they?"
"Not out loud""But you can feel it""Yes" He looked down.
"If someone panics and runs, everyone thinks it. Not because they are bad. Because my Quirk is convenient if they stop thinking about me holding it" Kurose's voice was very calm.
"You are not emergency duct tape" His mouth twitched.
"That sentence is terrible""Good. Remember it" He rubbed his thumb against his hand.
"I could stop someone""Yes""That is the problem""Yes" Kurose looked toward the sealed doors.
"Authorized emergency use is not the same as being available for everyone's fear" Shinso's shoulders lowered by one degree.
"Ren said usefulness is not rent""He is annoyingly quotable for someone on medical restriction" Shinso's eyes flicked toward her.
"Is he worse than you are saying?" Kurose looked at the black display.
"Yes" The honest answer landed without drama. Shinso inhaled.
"How much?"
"Alive. Cognitively present. Medically unstable. Graft Lattice biologically integrated. Identity impact ongoing. Fever lower today. No combat clearance. No heroism clearance. No being treated as an information machine" Shinso absorbed it.
"Graft Lattice""Working description only""They made stolen stuff work" Kurose's jaw tightened.
"His body made survival channels through what they forced in" Shinso looked at his hands.
"That sounds worse""Yes""Also better""Yes" He closed his eyes.
"Both sucks""Yes" Kurose stood. Shinso opened his eyes again.
"Tell him silence remained okay""I will""And tell him I did not ask questions" Kurose's face softened.
"I will" He hesitated.
"Tell him I hated it""That too" Todoroki spoke to Kurose next without asking her to come closer.
"My father is there" The room changed subtly. Not everyone heard. Enough did. Kurose looked at him.
"Yes""He will try to surpass All Might even if this is not about him" Kurose considered.
"Likely" Todoroki nodded as if that confirmed weather.
"I am angry about that before it happens""That is allowed" He looked down at his hands.
"I do not want All Might to lose. I also do not want my father to become Number One because All Might breaks" The words entered the room quietly and did not leave. Momo looked at him with soft pain. Uraraka's eyes lowered. Midoriya looked stricken on the screen. Bakugo stared harder at the wall. Kurose said "Those can both be true" Todoroki's mouth tightened.
"Ren knows something about my family" The room went very still. Kurose did not move.
"What makes you say that?"
"He looks away from me sometimes the way he looks away from doors he will not open" Kurose's expression became careful. That was answer enough. Todoroki looked at the black display.
"I will not ask him" Kurose's shoulders loosened.
"Thank you" He nodded.
"But if my father comes back worse, I may need help not asking" Kurose said "Then ask for help with the urge, not the information" Todoroki considered that.
"Acceptable" Bakugo muttered "Everyone in this room needs a therapist and a muzzle" Jiro said "You first""Die""Not a therapeutic phrase""Good" The room lasted another hour. That became an achievement no one could put on a report. Kaminari and Sero organized a card game with cards too large to hide, shuffle properly, or turn into anything sharp. Mina made everyone vote on whether ROOM STILL ON PROBATION needed a sequel. Momo suggested that additional signage should be purposeful. Bakugo said all signage was stupid.
Shinso suggested Fear with volume is still fear purely to annoy him. Iida objected to using Aizawa's words without attribution. Jiro said attribution would make it worse. Todoroki proposed The chairs are suspicious but currently compliant. The proposal received seven votes and one explosion threat. Midoriya watched from the screen and almost smiled twice. That was counted privately by Inko. Uraraka and Asui built a list of people who should not be left alone if public broadcast began. It included everyone.
Sato suggested snacks because if staying was an assignment, calories were supplies. Kurose approved immediately. Recovery Girl, contacted through staff chat, approved with alarming speed and sent a list of medically acceptable options alongside a note that said emotional blood sugar was real enough for policy if anyone argued with her. Bakugo ate something without commenting. Kirishima also did not comment. Heroism, sometimes, was silence with a protein bar. At 20: 17, the black display turned blue.
Every conversation died. Kurose stood. Hound Dog straightened near the rear door. Aizawa's voice came through the room speaker first.
"Outer evacuation phase is complete. Adult operation has entered active stage. This is verified information. No public broadcast yet. No student action required" No student action required. The sentence landed like an insult and a mercy. Midoriya gripped his blanket. Bakugo leaned forward. Iida closed his eyes. Shinso exhaled once. Todoroki stared at the display. Kurose turned to face them.
"Staying continues" No one argued. That was the first victory of the night. In R-2, Ren heard the same verified update from Recovery Girl, who delivered it like an unpleasant medication.
"Outer evacuation complete. Operation active. No broadcast yet" Ren stared at the ceiling.
"All Might?"
"Not deployed" Good. The word ran through him like water. All Might time conserved. No students in field. No public collapse. Not yet. His body tried to turn relief into exhaustion. The Graft Lattice warmed under the shoulder, then settled. Pain modulation stayed narrow. Repair scaffold demanded food again with unacceptable timing. Recovery Girl noticed.
"You are hungry""No""Your body disagrees""My body has poor boundaries""Correct. Eat" He looked at the new small bowl.
"Is this more porridge?"
"Yes""Villainy""Nutrition""Same texture""Eat" He ate. Each spoonful felt like staying. The screen mounted on his desk remained dark. No live feed. No operation map. No All Might. No Kamino. That was the agreement. Information through people first. If the fight became public, he would not watch alone. Hana and Daichi sat with him now. Hana had one hand near the blanket. Daichi sat close to the shelf, Bentaro finally allowed in the room and leaning against his chair under humiliating supervision.
Kurose was with students. Recovery Girl remained because she was probably structurally part of the medical wing by now. Hana watched Ren swallow.
"Warm?"
"Yes""Good" Daichi looked at the wall signs.
"The chairs are suspicious but currently compliant" Ren blinked.
"What?"
"Student proposal. Kurose sent updates" Ren stared at him.
"Who?"
"Todoroki" Ren closed his eyes.
"Of course" Hana smiled faintly.
"Apparently Bakugo objected with threats""Also of course" Recovery Girl said "Eat before analyzing furniture politics" Ren took another spoonful. The room held. Outside, Kamino moved. Inside, students stayed. In the operation staging channel, All Might waited. That was its own battle. He stood in a secured vehicle several blocks from the Kamino perimeter, hero form maintained but still, breathing slow, every second watched by his own discipline. Gran Torino sat across from him like a furious gargoyle.
Tsukauchi's voice came through comms. Nezu coordinated from U. A. Aizawa was on a separate internal suppression team, not near All Might's entry line. Endeavor, Edgeshot, Kamui Woods, and the others were already moving into position. All Might listened. He did not smile for the room. There was no room to smile for. His hands opened and closed once. Gran Torino watched.
"Don't start spending yourself in your head" All Might looked down.
"I'm not""You are" The old man's eyes narrowed.
"You heard the kid. Not from the worst wound" All Might's face changed. Gran Torino leaned back.
"Road back, right?" All Might closed his eyes. A hospital bed. A pale hand. One, two, three, line. Here. Come back as Toshinori if you cannot come back as All Might. He opened his eyes.
"Yes" Gran Torino jabbed his cane against the floor.
"Then stop looking like a funeral in a muscle suit" All Might stared at him.
"That is an awful sentence""Good. Remember it" A laugh almost escaped him. Almost. It changed his breathing instead. His comm clicked. Tsukauchi said "Primary breach in sixty seconds" All Might straightened. Hero form filled the vehicle not as performance, but as chosen armor. Gran Torino looked at him.
"Not yet""I know""Say it" All Might inhaled.
"Not yet""Again""Not yet""Good. Maybe there is one functioning brain cell left under all that hair" All Might smiled then. Small. Real. For a second, Toshinori held the shape of All Might without hiding inside it. Then the comm changed tone. The operation began to open its first doors. In the student room, no one saw any of that. That was the point. They saw a blue screen with verified text. ACTIVE PHASE UNDERWAYNO STUDENT ACTION REQUIREDSTAFF PRESENTNEXT UPDATE PENDING Kaminari stared at the words.
"I hate that font" Jiro said "It is a very hateable font" Mina whispered "Can we submit feedback?" Kurose said "After the operation" Bakugo muttered "Font looks weak" Midoriya's voice came through the screen.
"It does" Everyone looked at him. He looked embarrassed.
"What? It does" Sero nodded solemnly.
"Historic moment. Midoriya joins font criticism" Iida looked distressed.
"Please focus on the situation" Asui said "The font is part of the situation" Todoroki nodded.
"It is how the situation chose to speak" Jiro whispered "Why is that accurate?" For thirty seconds, the room talked about the font. That sounded absurd. It was not. Fear had tried to become motion. They had turned it into typography. Staying required strange tools. Then the second update arrived. BREACH WINDOW OPENCIVILIAN EVACUATION HOLDINGNO PUBLIC BROADCAST Midoriya covered his mouth. Bakugo leaned forward. Shinso pressed his thumb against his hand.
Iida said quietly "Stay" No one knew whether he was telling the room or himself. Kurose answered anyway.
"Stay" At R-2, Ren repeated it too when Recovery Girl read the update.
"Stay" Hana brushed his hair back with permission. Daichi held Bentaro's handle like a prayer with a crooked spine. Recovery Girl watched the monitor. The Graft Lattice stayed quiet. Mostly. The night held its breath. At Kamino, the first doors opened. But the children did not move. That mattered. Not because staying saved the world by itself. Because the enemy had made children into routes once. Tonight, at least for the first phase, the routes stayed closed.
