Long Feng casually flew out of the forest after his unexpected surge of strength. He leisurely split his attention to ponder on some blurry aspects of the Firmament Sword Art while flying with no specific direction in mind.
"The more I comprehend about the firmament sword art, the more I realize how astonishing the firmament sword saint was to have created it… the entire art seems to follow a specific law of it's own to create an imaginary isolated world. I don't really understand how it works, but in my little understanding… Earth Firmament skill represents the earth and the heaven firmament skill to represent the heaven.
Naturally, supporting the Firmament skill exists to hold the so called heaven together, utilizing the power of an entire world. Even if imaginary, it's power would be beyond astonishing. Following that rule, the next skill, breaking the firmament would destroy the imaginary world. The destruction would unleash a skill of unimaginable power. In that case, destruction should be the core essence of the next skill. I don't understand how the final three skills would fit in though.
Perhaps my conjecture is wrong, after all, destruction would normally be the end." Long Feng traced his chin slowly while thinking.
"There should be a way to unleash the Firmament Sword Art as a chain skill from the weakest while multiplying the power of each move… unfortunately, I am still far away from that stage. My current focus should be to master the supporting the Firmament skill. Everything else is too far away for now." He suddenly paused and glanced to his side. While he flew around, his soul power was constantly spread out to monitor all movements around him.
He wouldn't have dared to do this before, after all, his soul power could easily draw the attention of a powerful wild beast even one of the deities. Unless he reached the spirit transformation layer, he wouldn't be able to conceal his soul power from peak Imperials, not to mention deities. But now, that no longer mattered. After all, he was no longer comparable to his weaker self from just days ago. He quickly lost interest after sensing the auras of three peak Imperials.
Before, he would have had to change directions to avoid them. After all, he would have only been able to handle one peak Imperial at a time. Now? He didn't even bother to withdraw his soul power. That was the confidence brought by strength! He continued moving at his leisure pace, scarcely paying attention to the three approaching peak Imperials. It would appear that they had sensed his soul power fluctuations and were using it to track his position.
Considering that it wasn't weird for peak Imperials to move in groups here, Long Feng didn't bother about them. He had also joined a group once, after all, the threat of the deities as well as other peak Imperials was too great. No one could shoulder it all by themselves. Several minutes passed and the three peak finally got close enough to view Long Feng's figure. Long Feng also paused and glanced in their direction.
This distance was just enough for him to view their faces and just as expected, he had never seen any of them. Losing interest, he turned around and continued on his way. As for the three peak Imperials, they paused after taking a rather good look at Long Feng's face with different expressions.
"Doesn't that person look similar to the image of the person we were asked to capture?" One of them asked hesitantly. The matter was of utmost importance to these peak Imperials, so much that they couldn't allow for the slightest mistake. Succeeding would mean earning the chance to become deities themselves.
"What do you mean similar? That's definitely him! There's no difference at all!" Another youth replied with excitement brewing in his heart. As he stared at the distant Long Feng, all he could see were several treasures as well as glowing true essence pills moving farther away.
"What're we waiting for! We're letting him get away!"
"Come on! The heavens chose us out of everyone else today to gain this great opportunity! We mustn't let it go! It's his bad luck to have run into us!" The third youth licked his lips and took the lead in rushing towards Long Feng at full speed. This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author's work. The other two quickly followed, unwilling to be left behind. At the same time, the first youth didn't forget to shout out a quick reminder.
"We're to capture him alive! The rewards for that is even more than if we kill him!" The other two quietly acknowledged his words and rushed towards Long Feng as countless imaginations swirled through their minds. Perhaps in a few months after the current top ten outer peak disciples had become Inner peak disciples, the three of them would become the new top three outer peak disciples and replace the old, building an unshakeable legacy of their own! In the outer peak, that was the greatest honor possible.
After that, they would prepare to become Inner peak disciples and soar to greater heights, even becoming core members of the Sect. Long Feng raised an eyebrow when he sensed the three youths speeding towards him. That alone wouldn't bother him, but they were approaching with clear malicious intent. From their spreading auras and unstoppable momentum, he could tell that they weren't coming to talk.
"Do they think I have some treasure or what?" He didn't find this weird. It was normal to kill others for treasures in places like this, especially when he was alone while they were three of them.
"If so, then they've kicked a rock this time" a smile appeared on his face. He was looking for someone to test his strength against, and while three peak Imperials were far from enough, they would still suffice until he found someone really strong. The trio soon surrounded him, blocking his paths as they gazed at him with vivid evil intent.
"Are you Long Feng?" One of them asked randomly. The moment they came close enough, they already confirmed that it was him. The question was entirely pointless now.
"That's me. And you all are?" Considering how bored he was, Long Feng didn't mind playing with these three for a while. Unfortunately, they weren't of the same mind as him.
"Good. You really don't fear death to fly around without hiding or concealing your appearance and also admit so openly to your identity even with the entire realm hunting for you!"
"Indeed. It's rare to find such foolish bravery. I commend you." Long Feng's smile slowly faded as he frowned at their words.
"Hunted by the whole realm you say? What do you mean?" He questioned. The trio were surprised by Long Feng's confusion. From his expression, they could tell that he wasn't joking. He really didn't know what they were talking about.
"Huh? The fool actually doesn't know about it! Hehehe, I really don't know what a fool like you did to offend the deities so much. But whatever it is, I don't care to know."
"Normally, I'd explain everything to you so your soul can rest. But right now, I don't have the time, so you should take your ignorance to your grave." The speaker turned to the other two.
"Let's break his limbs first and restrict him. As long as he's alive, the mission will be successful." He shouted with a malicious glint in his eyes. The other two nodded and all three of them circulated their energies to release their full power. The combined pressure from three top peak Imperials caused the air around to turn heavy as it pressed down upon Long Feng. Unfortunately, the grand pressure was only able to make Long Feng's robes to flutter in the wind.
He floated amidst the combined pressure without even trying, barely sensing anything at all. From his perspective, this pressure amounted to a slightly strong wind, blowing at his hair. His lack of reaction startled the three youths and forced them to reassess him seriously.
"The information mentioned that he's merely a rank two Imperial realm warrior… that should be true right?"
"It should be. Everything has been right untill this point. Besides, so what if he's stronger? As long as he's not a deity, the three of us have nothing to fear."
"Right. No peak Imperial can face the three of us together. He's probably putting in a brave font while shivering inside. Let's stop hesitating and end this quickly!" Their conversation wasn't hidden, enabling Long Feng to listen to their words. His brows furrowed a bit more.
"Information? What's going on?" He couldn't be blamed for his ignorance. He was out cold while trying to refine the Dao heart when the ten deities found him. Whatever happened after that was unknown to him. It was natural that he was confused at the situation. He had already lost interest in playing around or testing his strength. He now wanted to know exactly what was going on, and these three didn't seem to be willing to explain.
The three youths attacked simultaneously, unleashing powerful attacks targeted at Long Feng's limbs while avoiding his vital parts. Their intent was clearly to cripple him without killing him. Long Feng's expression didn't waver at all as he faced the attacks from three directions. He made no obvious attempt to dodge or unleash a counter attack, shocking the three youths as the attacks exploded against his body.
"What! Why the hell didn't he fight back?!" One of the youths shouted in confusion. The explosion from the attacks clouded the air for a while, blocking their sights. When the energies faded away, Long Feng was nowhere to be seen. Looking around, the three youths swallowed heavily.
"D-don't tell me he's dead?!"
"Did we kill him? The fool didn't try to resist or defend himself! Our attacks could've killed him!"
"Could it be that he already gave up and was only planning to let us end his life for him?"
"Damn it! The rewards for killing him simply won't compare to if we had captured him alive! We were too careless!" As the first two youths lamented in annoyance, the third youth looked around the explosion spot with a frown.
"This doesn't make sense. Even if he didn't resist and really died, there should at least be some sign, maybe blood or something. There's nothing, not even his void ring!"
"Hahaha! You're overthinking. Your caution isn't always right. If you ask me, I think he was completely unable to resist, which is why he's dead."
"Indeed. The information already stated that he's just a mere rank two Imperial. We overdid it by attacking at once. Even just one of us can erase him by mistake!" The other youth reminded.
"I am very curious, what information exactly?" All of a sudden, his eyes bulged while his pupils shrank to needlepoint. All the hair on his body rose as a chill surged up from the soles of his feet to the very top of his head. The ghost like voice that suddenly sounded right behind his ears caused his mind to go blank instantly. His first instinct was to run away as far as he could, but to his despair, his body was completely frozen in place. Forget moving, even breathing was hard as he floated there.
The other two were also frozen in shock and terror as they stared behind the first youth as though they had seen a ghost. Standing there behind the youth was Long Feng, completely unharmed. There was not even a crease in his robes and his expression was completely calm. A similar chill filled the hearts of the two youths as they stared at him. None of them had sensed his presence at all, and even now as they stared at him, they still couldn't sense his presence with their perceptions.
"How's this possible?" Long Feng tilted his head slightly.
"I will ask the questions. Whoever's answers satisfy me the most might survive. As for the others, I'm afraid they'll die." The two youths staring at him swallowed heavily as they stood there, unaware of what to do. Seconds later, one of them shook his head.
"H-he must be bluffing! The information we received is that he's a mere…" he wasn't able to complete his sentence. A blur appeared before his eyes and his head separated from his shoulders and flew into the sky while a shower of blood erupted from his headless neck. The body and the severed head levitated for less than a second before falling down and crashing into the earth and breaking apart from the fall. The other two were terrified out of their minds, especially the youth who Long Feng was standing behind.
He had scarcely sensed Long Feng moving at all behind him, yet the youth had suddenly died before he could react. This… The information never mentioned anything remotely as terrifying as this!
"Now, who else? As I said, only one person might survive. Whoever wants to survive might as well start talking."
