In the Central Hall at the summit of the outer peak, the head warden stood with a grim expression. Behind him was a middle aged man with a stern look on his face. The Head Warden was silent for a few minutes as his expression fluctuated unstably. After a long silence, he glanced at the man behind him.
"He killed Bai Lixi. Using true minor Sword intent, with a cultivation of rank nine spirit realm?" The man nodded.
"Impressive. Comprehending the sword intent at his cultivation realm is a very hard feat. I didn't expect him to bring so many surprises." Voiced the Head Warden. The man behind him added, "I was watching the fight out of boredom. I didn't expect… the change was sudden. I couldn't react in time to save Bai Lixi. Also, his sword intent is unusually powerful. It has some faint traces of the ancient sword legacy remnant." He stated. The head warden's expression became unreadable.
"The ancient sword legacy remnant… I'll need to speak to Lord Ao about this. If he really comprehended the sword laws, then we may need to pay more attention to him." He paused and frowned.
"But he killed Bai Lixi. That is a huge headache. I can't do anything about it, especially with Lord Ao behind him. But Bai Zijun is a different story." The man behind him sighed softly.
"Indeed. Bai Zijun is currently completing some missions. Once he hears about his brother's death, I imagine he would lose his mind and immediately rush back to the sect. By then, whoever tries to stop him from killing that Long Feng would face his absolute killing intent as well. I'm afraid not even you will be able to soothe his hatred." The head warden traced his beard with a deep frown.
"This is a bit tricky. I'll let Lord Ao know about this as well. Whenever Bai Zijun returns, bring him to me immediately. Although Little Lixi's death hurts me as well, it isn't against the rules. I can't interfere." Of course, the real reason he couldn't interfere was that he didn't dare to.
"Thank you for alerting me. Prepare to open one of the minor trial lands. Gather the best outer peak disciples and keep a spot for that kid. I recall he still has the chance to enter a trial land once." The head warden concluded. The man behind him nodded respectfully and vanished, leaving the head warden standing alone.
"That kid…" Long Feng's figure appeared in his mind. He recalled the scene where the talent testing stone shattered to fragments and he once again couldn't help but feel that the two were connected somehow. At the same time, he found it hard to believe that they were linked in any way.
Long Feng returned to his pavilion while the entire outer peak shook once the end of the battle spread. Bai Lixi's death was a great shock to many disciples. Long Feng, an originally unknown name suddenly because extremely famous after this one overwhelming victory. His ranking had risen from the very bottom straight into the top five hundred. He was ranked 411 at the end of the day. At the same time, a storm began to brew in the peak.
In a large pavilion, a handsome youth sat down lazily and listened to the words of a kneeling youth. At some point, he gasped lightly.
"A newbie killed Bai Zijun's younger brother?" The kneeling youth nodded.
"Hm. Bai Zijun must've heard the news by now. He must be enraged beyond words. Heh, the outer peak is about to become lively." This handsome youth was one of the top ten outer peak disciples, an early stage deity realm genius; Wang Chen. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. There were only four of the ten geniuses present in the outer peak, and they included Wang Chen, Yang Qian, Zhou Zheng and Feng Feichen.
Each of them expressed slight shock after hearing about Bai Lixi's death and they all anticipated Bai Zijun's return and his unstoppable fury.
Long Feng, the architect of the invisible storm in the outer peak was currently meditating. After a while, he fully attained his peak condition, then he opened his eyes. Two beams of sword energy flew out of both pupils and left very shallow holes on the door he was facing.
"Early stage deity… Bai Zijun." He furrowed his brows, feeling troubled.
"I'm still far from being able to face deities. But this Bai Zijun doesn't seem like the reasonable type. I can't wait around for him to return and find me." His mind began to whirl as he thought of his next course of action. After a few seconds, his eyes lit up.
"First, I need to understand exactly how large the difference between I and an early stage deity is. But to find a deity who will be willing to help me test my strength…" He suddenly recalled something.
"That's right, the puppet! It's strength can rise to the early stage deity realm! It's perfect to measure my current strength." He didn't wish to waste time, so he rushed into the training room immediately. Facing the lifeless puppet, he gave a command via his token, bringing it to life. The aura of the puppet began to rise until it surpassed the Imperial realm, entering the realm of deities. Just it's aura caused Long Feng's energy to turn sluggish and his body began to feel great pressure.
Not daring to make a mistake, Long Feng took out an Imperial armament sword, one of the rewards he received after the hundred continent meeting. The Origin Spirit Sword could no longer help him now. If he fought using his intent, the sword would very easily shatter into pieces, and he didn't want that to happen. The Imperial sword lit up with dazzling sword energy once his sword intent rushed into it. His aura began to surge as well untill it began to push back against the pressure of the puppet.
Taking a deep breath, he ordered the puppet to attack at full power. His mind instantly exploded with danger. He was staring at the puppet before him and it hadn't moved yet, but his instincts screamed otherwise. He reflectively crossed his arms before his chest and all of a sudden, a destructive energy smashed into his arms without him sensing anything. The next thing he knew, he was crashing into the exceptionally tough wall of the training room. He coughed up a mouthful of blood as his face shone with alarm.
Raising his head, the puppet was actually right before him, merely inches away from touching him. A berserk energy slammed into Long Feng's stomach. His spine nearly shattered from the force and he found himself uncontrollably bending over. That fist seemed to have reset his entire brain. He couldn't think, he couldn't see, he wasn't hearing anything, he could have sworn he had actually forgotten how to breath for a second. His entire body was twitching, but the puppet didn't stop.
He had given it to order to attack with it's full power, and unless he took back that order, then it would most certainly beat him to death. As he bent over, the puppet slammed a clenched fist into his back. Long Feng's mind blacked out several times in that second as he coughed up blood thrice. He wasn't even able to sense the movements of the puppet. The speed, the power behind each hit, they were all on a whole different level compared to him. He was now beginning to realize how foolish he was.
His strength wasn't just a bit behind that of a deity. It was far behind. This was a puppet; it couldn't think at all. It would inevitably be weaker than a real cultivator. Not to mention Bai Zijun was among the top early stage deities. More astounding was that this puppet wasn't able to use true essence. In reality, it couldn't be considered a true deity. Even then, it's raw energy was enough to make Long Feng see stars and regret his day.
If Bai Zijun used his true essence against Long Feng, then not even his ashes would remain as proof of his existence. The puppet raised it's arm once again, ready to unleash another brain wiring fist. Luckily, Long Feng's reaction speed wasn't shabby. He sent a single command into the token at the fastest speed he had ever done in his life. The puppet immediately froze, it's metallic fist pausing just a couple of inches away from Long Feng's face. This caused sweat to drip down from his forehead.
This wasn't a fight at all. It was a total smackdown. He wasn't even able to see the puppet's movement, not to mention blocking. There was no need to speak of counter attacking. His entire body was painfully sore right now. After receiving an unwarranted beating of the year, he wanted to cry. But even more so, his mind was finally able to perceive the great difference between him and a deity. If he faced the weakest deity in the history of Deities, chances were, he would lose his life in under ten moves.
And if they used true essence? He wouldn't survive the first move! He realized the gravity of the situation. He absolutely couldn't face Bai Zijun now. He wouldn't even be able to escape.
"I've severely underestimated deities. Or perhaps, my strength has increased by too much in a short time and I've began to subconsciously overestimate myself. That is extremely dangerous." His mind wavered as he recalled something.
"Ren Hua mentioned that there are rank nine Imperials among the top hundred who have fought early stage deities to a draw before. No matter what means they use, it proves that they are stronger than I am. I can't afford to be complacent." He wobbled out of the training hall and spread himself flat on the floor of his room.
"Damn, that puppet didn't hold back it's punches at all! I think I broke a few rib bones…" As he healed, he slowly rethought of his neck plans. Apparently, waiting for Bai Zijun to return would be the dumbest thing he could do. And he didn't trust anyone in this sect to leave his fate in their hands. He would rather plot his plans by himself.
"I will accept a mission for this month. This time, I might try the one and half star missions and use the opportunity to leave the sect. I'll complete the missions and try to increase my strength outside if I can." As he continued this train of thought, he suddenly remembered Ao Zhentian's warning. He wasn't to leave the sect for any reason unless he had the combat power of a deity. Now, he had no choice. And he was already considering it. This issue was merely pushing his plans forward.
"Argh, heavens. That puppet was so f*cking savage!" Long Feng accidentally moved and instantly cursed as a severe pain in his ribs assaulted him. Recalling the merciless fists of the puppet that nearly gouged his stomach, he shivered slightly and reaffirmed that he absolutely couldn't face a deity under any circumstances.
"Next move, leave the sect for a while, become a deity, perfect my sword intent, comprehend the peak demon and light Dao concepts and enhance my strength in any other way I can." He suddenly winced in pain again.
"Actually, on second thought, next move is to rest for a while. Damn, once I'm stronger than that puppet, I'll definitely get my revenge. How can a chunk of metal be so ruthless?!" He hissed miserably.
