I then replied, "Yes, you heard right: a system. Like the ones you read about in fantasy stories on Earth. As you know, we get stronger when you kill a monster, right?" Himari nodded, as she had been told this previously. I then said, "Well, this is caused by either leveling up or gaining a stat point that gets randomly distributed. In this world, you aren't allowed to see this growth, but you can feel it. Once you change your class to 'Outsider,' though, you can see the screen in front of you."
Himari was then amazed to hear this, as she was always curious about what her current level of power was compared to others. I then continued, "This system allows you to see not only your level and stat points, but now you can also see experience points needed to get to the next level, as well as distribute stat points yourself. You probably don't know how to get stat points, do you?" Himari had never been told how, nor had she found out how either, so she could only say, "No, I don't know.
Can you explain to me how?" I explained, "There are two ways to get stat points. Once you level up, or you do a certain thing enough times, you will get corresponding stat points compared to the difficulty of the task completed or level reached. Once you get a system, you will then be able to distribute them how you want. Currently, by default, everyone who levels up will get them distributed randomly.
I have seen my own when I first became an Outsider, and strangely, most of the stat points went to Strength and Magic—probably due to the Goddess's blessing.
"Another thing that happens when you get stat points the second way is that you feel a sudden boost in ability in the action you were doing as it leveled up. So, you not only get stat points to increase your stats, but you also become more skillful in an action." Himari showed a face of amazement at all the new information and asked, "What else is the benefit of being an Outsider class?" I explained further, "The main benefit is that you will no longer age past your prime.
So, if you're older than your prime age, you will become younger and never age again. If you are younger, you will continue to age until you reach your prime age.
"Another benefit is that you can see other people's levels as well as skills they have. In other words, I know everything you can do right now, while you know nothing about me."
"What? You know all my skills and abilities?" Himari said. I then calmed her down, saying, "Don't worry, once you get a skill called 'Stealth,' you can hide your stats and abilities from people around your level or weaker. Though my level is so high right now, I can see your abilities either way." Himari was unhappy hearing this, but the expectation of also being able to do this in the future was far more intriguing to her, as she soon brightened up. She then asked, "When will I get this system?"
I then replied, "You first have to go back to our headquarters, where we have a magic circle, we found from a book which detailed how to try this inscription. This circle, when supplied with magic, can change your class to Outsider. So, for now, follow Lucy to go back to headquarters." Himari then asked, "Then what are you going to do instead of going with us?"
I then said, "I need to go see the Demon King, as a new one had risen a little before you were summoned, and I need to see the current level of the Demon King. Don't worry; I'll follow you back soon after gathering enough information." Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more. Lucy then said to Himari, "Come with me; I'll show you the way. Since you are new to our organization, I'll tell you everything you need to know."
Himari, excited about her class change, followed Lucy without question and said, "Let's go back! By the way, what do I call you?" Lucy then replied, "Since you are part of the organization now, you can call me by my title. So, you can call me Queen." Himari then replied, "Alright, Queen, let's go right now." Satisfied with being called Queen, Lucy then took Himari and set off to the ocean and back to Equilibrium headquarters.
After they left, I too set off to the center of the Demonic continent, the Demon King's castle. Back then, it took me several months just to get to the center due to being weak and having so many monsters and demons in the way that slowed me down. Now, with my current level, I easily traveled through undetected and reached the Demon King's castle in a day. I didn't send anyone to monitor the Demon King recently due to a lack of manpower.
The other Rooks were on missions right now, and the Knights, Bishops, and Pawns simply were far too weak to spy on the Demon King's castle. So, I had to make this trip personally to see where the current Demon King's strength was. As I sneaked my way in, I was very careful not to get caught, as there was no need to help the humans kill the demons. I was simply here to make sure demons and humans were evenly matched. Entering deeper and deeper into the Demon King's castle, I finally reached the throne room.
There sat the Demon King, who this time was a young-looking man, seemingly close in appearance to a human in their twenties. Though demons tend to live longer, so age in human standards is quite different, as demons can live for ten times longer than humans. So, the man in front of me was probably at least two hundred. I then looked towards the Demon King to see his current power and was surprised at his current level.
Demons tend to level up much slower than humans for some reason and have to kill several times more humans to level up. Demons are also allowed to kill each other to level up, but with how few demons and monsters there were in comparison to humans, this was not a viable strategy and isn't usually done unless there was a dispute or a power struggle.
The current Demon King, though, was level 247; in comparison, a high-level demon is usually level 100, and the current Hero is only level 108, barely above that of a high-level demon. The gap was too big between the two, and this Demon King might break the balance, but for some reason, he still hasn't attacked. Maybe, like Lucy when she was Demon King, he was more occupied with leading his forces and ruling his kingdom.
Even so, this Demon King was quite powerful for someone who had so recently ascended to the position. In comparison, Lucy back then I estimated to be level 320, though I'm not exactly sure, as it was decades after that battle that I became an Outsider and saw her level. This Demon King has only been in this position for a few years and has already become this strong, while the Hero has only been a newly summoned hero for around three years.
I decided to just wait and watch what the current Demon King will do, as I still have no intention of intervening until necessary. Having got the information I wanted, I left the Demon King's castle and decided to head back. After another day, I finally reached the border. I then found myself a boat and headed towards Equilibrium territory. A few days later, I finally arrived. Soon after I docked my boat and entered the main building of Equilibrium, I soon saw Himari training.
As she saw me, she suddenly rushed up to me, seemingly excited to try something. She then stared at me for a long time, as she was shocked at what she saw. I then asked, "Why have you been staring at me for so long?" Himari, then snapping out of her daze, finally replied, "Though I can't see your skills, probably from your 'Stealth' skill, I can still see your level. What have you done to reach your current level? How are you still not confident in defeating the human and demon race with your current power?
Your level makes me feel like a joke." I then explained, "You never know what secrets the humans and demons have. They might suddenly have some kind of secret weapon that could rival me. Not to mention, the current strongest person in the human continent, other than you, right now is at level 250. This is only the official strongest person; who knows if there are any stronger people above him? As for the demons, the strongest general in the Demon King's army is also level 235.
Who knows what the level of the primordial demons still in hiding is? There are far too many 'what ifs' for me to take action." Hearing this, Himari then said, "Are you joking? With those low numbers, your level is way higher than what you just said the strongest forces are. Even when I looked at Lucy, I wasn't so surprised, and I thought her level was high. Why can't you just do something with all your power?" Himari asked. I then told her to go back to training while I had more important things to do.
Himari then said, "Why should I train? You should just do things yourself!"
