I was shocked by what I just heard. I assumed it was indeed the goddess of the Trist Kingdom, but to actually see her in person while being threatened was simply terrifying. This instantly made me freeze up as I remembered my time with Selen, who was only a fallen god. The person in front of me is a real god and is far more powerful. As I was immersed in my fear, I wanted to make sure it was her, so I used my system to look at her.
The system window showed: Goddess of Justice Trisha (Avatar) Level 4999 (suppressed) I instantly realized it really was her. Even an avatar was this powerful. Just how strong is she in person? Not receiving an answer, the goddess Trisha showed a slight expression of annoyance for a moment before becoming emotionless again. She then said, devoid of emotion, "Since you offer no explanation, I can take it as you are guilty. You will now be cleansed by me and be restored to the side of justice."
The goddess Trisha then raised the staff in her hand and instantly shot out a huge burst of light that made the previous ones look like moonlight against the sun. I forced myself to move, covering my legs with solidified intention to cut the air in front of my legs to move faster. I then swiftly moved to get out of the blast range of the light, consuming vast amounts of energy to finally barely dodge the light. The result of the attack was utterly devastating.
Everything the light touched turned into nothingness as it was completely vaporized. The light didn't stop for a long while as it kept going as far as my eyes could see. Finally, in the very far distant mountain, I heard an explosion. I covered ears and closed my eyes as I was startled by the sound as well as the blinding light that was in the same direction as the explosion. The next moment I opened my eyes what was once a mountain, was now completely gone. I stared in shock at the destructive power of a real god.
This was simply not even in the realm of mortals. I doubted if I could ever reach this level. I then thought back to Selen, who was at the same level as the goddess in front of me, who was only an avatar. I made a sudden realization that Selen was simply playing with me back then. The power she displayed was a joke compared to what I am seeing now. Just how much did she hold back in my assessment to be her student? While I was still in a daze from shock, the goddess started making her next move.
She then said, "You're quite quick on your feet, aren't you? Don't worry, this time I won't miss my attack, and you will be truly cleansed." When she pointed her staff back at me again and the attack seemed to be coming soon, I froze in place. It wasn't due to her magic, but due to complete fear. Her magic before was simply a test shot from what I could see. It wasn't even her true power, and this time she seems far more serious. I could only feel fear as I knew I couldn't dodge such power again.
As I was accepting my fate, Lucy suddenly appeared and attacked the goddess. The goddess Trisha was then surrounded by a thick layer of black fog as the magic kept exploding in her vicinity. While this happened, Sophia also appeared, dragging me away. I then came to my senses as I realized help had arrived and I wasn't going to die. While the goddess Trisha was still distracted by the fog, I regrouped with Lucy, Sophia, Maria, and Claire, who had all arrived. Stolen story; please report.
This gives me nostalgia as the original group were now together fighting again. We haven't done this together in a long time. The dark fog didn't last very long as the goddess quickly blew it away, clearing her line of sight. The goddess then said, "More sinners have arrived to be cleansed. Don't worry, all of you, as I will bring you all to the path of light." As she was talking, we interrupted her as we started our attack, as she was simply far too high of a level not to take advantage of her.
Lucy started casting high damage spells as well as auxiliary spells to blind the goddess's sight. Maria was casting vast amounts of spells to cover the area to stop her from doing anything. I and Claire went to the front lines to stop her from casting any more destructive magic like before. Sophia stood in the back to heal our injuries and replenish our energy. We then engaged the goddess, knowing full well that we might not win.
I started the first attack as I slashed at the staff, wanting to get it out of her hands. Claire helped by doing the same. Of course, it wasn't that easy, as a shield of light stopped our attack midway as we were unable to penetrate it. The goddess then sent out small, less destructive beams of light to make the both of us back off. As she was doing this, Lucy conjured a giant dark spear, which was aided by Maria wind magic to send the spear forward with great force.
It then hit the shield and bounced off, but I didn't let go of the opportunity and used my skill in a very focused point on the exact spot where the spear had hit. As I condensed all my solidified intention on the tip of my sword and made contact, I could hear a cracking sound. The shield then had a slight crack on it. Seeing progress, I continued to push whatever power I had remaining, pushing everything I had. Claire then came to support by piercing at the same place.
Soon, the shield of light completely broke, and our attacks finally got close to the goddess. I then tried to at least injure her, even if slightly. As I was doing that, the goddess wasn't idle and cast several decent sized balls of light and surrounded me in them. I decided to endure whatever pain might come and took some grazing hits. Finally, I reached the goddess and thrust my sword towards her staff. The goddess then moved her hand to catch my sword.
As she caught it, my sword completely stopped, unable to move. As a trade-off, I made her hand bleed, though slightly. On the other hand, I was completely covered in injuries at this point. As I tried to pull my sword away to no avail, the goddess then pulled on my sword, making me lose my grip resulting me also losing my sword. I then backed away, regrouping with the others, allowing Sophia to heal my injuries and help me recover from my exhaustion.
At this point, after all our efforts, we only caused a minor injury to the goddess and felt slightly demoralized. As we prepared for our next round of attacks, the goddess didn't give us time to do so as a smaller beam of light compared to the first one was shot at us. Though smaller, it still carried destructive power. Since we couldn't dodge out of the way with so many of us so exhausted, I stepped forward to block it.
Claire did the same, and we both stood at the front while the other three supported in the back. I then used solidified intention on my hands as I no longer had a sword, and Claire used sword energy on her sword. We were then further reinforced with Sophia support magic. Maria and Lucy created as many layers of shields as they could, and at that moment the beam of light hit. It instantly broke through all the layers of shields that were cast, and Lucy and Maria had to constantly make more.
In the next moment, the beam of light broke through all the way to me and Claire. We then hit the beam with our best attempt, and immediately I suffered several injuries, as did Claire. If it weren't for Sophia constantly healing the both of us, we would have died long ago. With the support of all four of them, we slowly drained the power of the beam of light until finally it was over. I was completely full of injuries, which couldn't heal as Sophia had run out of magic.
The other three weren't in a better situation either, as they were all kneeling on the ground, exhausted to the point of being unable to stand. I was the only one left standing and was unsure about how we would deal with the next round of attacks. As I turned my head towards the goddess, I was relieved at what I saw. The goddess Trisha was starting to disappear as she was starting to transform back into a man. It seems her descending in person was only temporary.
As she was disappearing, the goddess had something left to say: "Don't think this is the end. I won't let you or those around you escape. Soon, I will send people after you for daring to interrupt my plans and stopping the war in such a way. Watch your back, as I will make you never know peace again." The goddess then completely disappeared, leaving her host on the ground completely drained of energy. The man then slowly turned to light himself and disappeared into nothing.
I then collapsed on the ground as I was relieved and exhausted by my sudden encounter with the goddess. I then wondered what will happen in the future now that she has a grudge against us.
