Himari then replied, "The magic is still currently level one, and I can at most take myself home. So as of right now, I'm too weak to take anyone else with me." I then became disappointed as I wanted to go home after so long. Considering the time difference, only ten years had passed since I disappeared, and I wonder what my parents are doing now. I then asked, "Do you know how much stronger you need to get before you can take someone else with you?"
Himari replied, "I'm not sure, but I can feel it takes a lot of power to take someone else with me." I sighed and could only leave it up to the future, then said, "Let's go back and research it. Also, do you want to go back, or is there anything waiting for you?" Himari replied, "Not much. I grew up in an orphanage, so I don't really have any family to speak of. So, other than a few friends I made through school, I doubt anyone would be looking for me."
"I see; then how about when we go back, you come with me to meet my family?" I said.
"They are quite kind. I'll make sure you feel welcome. Though it's been 10 years over there, so I don't know how they are doing now." Himari thought about it and said, "Sure, I have nowhere better to go anyway." I then told her, "Once we go back, we will extensively research and find how world-transferring magic works so that we can go together, and that way we can still come back whenever we want." Himari liked the idea, and so we went back to headquarters.
The first task was to research this new magic, and the second task was to wait for the humans' next move, as the Demon King is now dead. A day later, we came back, and I felt relieved as there was nothing better than being somewhere you are familiar with. I haven't been back in a while. We then went straight to the training area, as I was too excited at the thought of going back home after a thousand years and wanted to speed up the process as much as I could.
Arriving at the training ground, I told Himari to start displaying the magic in front of me as I hoped to learn it. The several times I viewed it before were only momentary, as heroes who went back cast it in a singular moment, so I couldn't really study it. This time I can finally have someone show it to me, so I wanted to give it a try. Himari then started casting world transfer magic for the first time.
She deliberately stopped her casting midway to let me observe, and so that she wouldn't instantly get transported back to Earth. Observing this new magic, I couldn't understand it at all. As a level 99 at magic, this was a very strange feeling. Though it was strange, the more I observed it, the more understanding I got. The process was very slow, and before I could gain any substantial findings, Himari ran out of magic and the magic got canceled. She looked exhausted, so I told her to get some rest.
Though I was disappointed, there was nothing I could do. From what I could tell, I was only 10% of the way to learning this magic and would need more observation to gain it. This process is going to take at least over a week, so I decided not to rush this, as this would cause strain to Himari. I then went back to my office to do my own tasks in the meantime. Since the demons have lost this time, I decided to send Lucy to observe the situation, as she had free time now.
She then set off to observe the situation on the Demonic Continent, as we needed to know when the humans would invade. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. I then spent the next few days studying the magic with Himari, while also teaching Thea more things to get stronger, as we might need her soon. After two weeks of dedicated studying of the world transfer magic, a new notification popped up in my system window: World Transfer Magic Level 1.
I suddenly understood what Himari meant when she said she could only bring herself back. This magic took an enormous amount of energy. This energy was so badly inefficient due to its low level that the stronger you are, the more magic it took. So even I, at level 3875, would be instantly drained upon using it, much less taking anyone with me. Even worse, I think with how low the level currently is, this is a one-way magic, so we can never come back unless summoned again.
This was due to Earth not having any magic, or even if it did, it was very little. Though I'm not completely sure, as I couldn't use magic on Earth before arriving, but considering I never met any real mages I could firmly guess this was the case. This means any magic I use before I transfer to Earth would be instantly exhausted, and whatever remained would have to be used sparingly as it will never recover.
This means every hero who has come back to Earth has most likely lost all their magic and become a normal person. I then decided that since I have this magic now, I can now afford to wait until this skill leveled up. The time flow is also a hundred times faster here in this world, so waiting a few months to a few years won't make a difference now. So, while I waiting for news from the outside world, I studied world transfer magic with Himari every day.
This was a grueling process, as this magic was so advanced that progressing was very slow. The best method I came up with was to constantly use world transfer magic but don't fully cast it. This caused the progress bar on the system to show it was slowly gaining EXP, though it was incredibly slow. Since Himari had started using this magic before me, she leveled up first to level 2 world transfer magic after taking a whole month. Then, after her, it took me an extra day after her to reach level 2.
I could progress so fast because not fully casting the magic lowered the amount of magic being used. Comparing it to actually using world transfer magic it was significantly less. So, I could use it to train for longer periods than Himari. After reaching level 2, I looked at my own system window to see what this skill did now. The only upgrade was reduced magic power use by 5% which is so minimal. At this rate to be able to have a two-way trip, I would have to reach level 10 or more.
This could take at least a year or longer at this rate. My dream of a fast trip back to Earth was suddenly shot down as if a bucket of water was splashed in my face. There was nothing I could do about it so I continued to practice World Transfer magic. In this way, time continued to pass slowly as I had to do something as tedious as learning new magic. Then after 3 months had passed and I had reached level 4 of world transfer magic, news came back about the situation outside Equilibrium headquarters.
Lucy came back to report on the Demonic Continent. Lucy reported, "The demon force has been acting very strange lately, as if they aren't afraid of the humans invading. Strange demons have all started appearing recently; they were too far, so I had to sneak closer to see their level. You won't believe what I saw when I got closer." Curious, I asked, "What did you see to make you so surprised?" Lucy then said in shock, "I saw the ancestral demons that my father talked about when he was still Demon Lord.
I never saw them personally during my time as a Demon Lord, but from my father's descriptions, they are indeed the ancestral demons that have been in hiding." I then asked, "What is with these ancestral demons that is making you so anxious to report?" Lucy, unable to shake the feeling of what she saw, finally revealed, "I saw their levels and it really did match what my father told me about them easily being able to take over as a Demon Lord. Their level was so high that they made the Demon King seem like a joke.
No wonder the demons invaded at this time, as the Demon King was used as cannon fodder to bait a strong attack from the humans to waste resources." Lucy then continued, "The Demon King taking such a powerful attack must have drained the humans' resources immensely, just for killing someone as weak as the Demon King. They dare to be so over-the-top, probably due to arrogance.
Though I'm not sure why humans wasted so much resources; even though they have been around much longer than we have and should know about the backing of the Demonic Continent. This mistake is going to cost the humans a lot in the near future if they choose to invade the Demonic Continent. The ancestral demons simply aren't beings to be taken lightly."
Hearing all the fanfare that Lucy was making the ancestral demons out to be, I then asked after she finished her explanation, "What level exactly are these ancestral demons?"
