Chương 55: Volume 2: Chapter 16 - Who do you like (Part ll)

"Then what do you consider true cuteness? You haven't said that yet."

"Heh heh, it's simple. As someone who has studied 'moe' culture for many years, I have long discovered an eternal truth—true cuteness cannot be superficial."

"I feel like I'm not quite following again, but please continue."

"In short, if you think it's cute, I think it's cute, everyone thinks it's cute, and it's immediately perceived as cute by everyone, then that's not true cuteness; it's too superficial. It's about something that no one else finds cute, but only reveals its cute side to the person it likes—that's the so-called 'gap moe,' making that cuteness exclusively yours. That is the supreme cuteness."

"Oh..."

"There used to be a very popular personality type called 'tsundere,' where on the surface, they act coldly and haughtily towards you, but deep down, they care about you immensely and like you terribly. This 'gap moe' created by the inconsistency between words and actions once conquered the hearts of countless innocent youths. It's truly nostalgic. Although I don't know why it stopped being popular later, I still really like 'tsundere' type girls."

"Did such things used to be popular in big cities? The world is truly full of wonders; I've never heard of it." Toke clearly didn't quite understand. If there were manga and games, he could better appreciate the cuteness of tsundere. I think he would quickly become immersed in two-dimensional otaku culture, which is a pity. That's it, I know what I will do after leaving the Anglus Family. Manga and Animes, they must appear in this world. I must promote the reputation of the Second Dimension in this world.

"What became popular after that... Ah, 'little devil' type girls were also very popular for a while. This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version. Their mischievous personality seemed troublesome, but the 'gap moe' of blushing and heart-pounding when they were countered was also irresistible."

"Eh? Devil? Cute? Is that right?" Ah, it seems it's better not to mention the word "devil" in this other world.

"Also, the kind of girls I've seen who like to curse, or who like to tell dirty jokes but are pure at heart, also feel quite cute."

"Uh... people's preferences are truly diverse, I understand." I couldn't explain it clearly. Toke couldn't empathize at all and instead thought I was someone with peculiar preferences. As a modern person, such preferences are not strange at all! However, it seems better to be more restrained in this other world.

"Anyway, let's put this topic aside for now. Is there no girl you fancy at the moment?"

"How could there be? With my conditions, no girl would even look at me." Toke shook his head repeatedly.

"It has nothing to do with whether a girl would look at you. No one has the right to interfere with the freedom to like someone. It's simply whether there's a girl who makes you think, 'It would be great if I could date her.'""Th-This..." Oh, from that reaction, he clearly does.

"Who is it? Tell me."

"... Pr-Princess Yumina." Ah—what an unsurprising answer. After all, she is a princess with a perfect persona. If asked which girl they would choose to date if they could pick any, 99% of the boys in the entire school would probably answer Princess Yumina. But unfortunately, she's a heroine that ordinary people can't handle.

"I've told you mine, Robert. Do you have a girl you like?" Toke took a big bite of his pie and asked me in return. To be honest, no. Whether it's Princess Yumina or Shinika, they are both targets for the male protagonist to conquer in the future, and I just want to keep my distance from them. Other girls either keep their distance from me out of respect or only value my family background. There hasn't been a single girl who has made my heart flutter so far.

But if I said that, it would feel like I was avoiding the question, because in Toke's eyes, I'm also a teenager just entering puberty. He probably wouldn't believe me if I said I wasn't interested in the opposite sex in a school full of noble young ladies. Therefore, the safest choice is...

"I personally don't have anyone I like. But if I have to choose then I would prefer someone like Princess Yumina. She's beautiful and has a good personality. As a boy, it's hard not to be moved." This is not a lie. Princess Yumina is like a school idol. I do like her, just like I like the Sister Bilibili, Little Angel Madoka, Kashiwagi Eriri, Yui, etc; it's not a lie.

"You too, huh? That's great. After what you just said, I thought you'd like some girl with a peculiar personality." You caught me. I do like that type. It's just that I haven't met a girl with such a peculiar personality yet. If a tsundere character suddenly appeared, she could easily conquer my heart. Unfortunately, there are no such female characters in the novel.

I don't expect a beautiful girl with overly obvious two-dimensional features; I'd be content with a kind and gentle ordinary girl who could like me, have an ordinary romance with her, and live a peaceful life. But who could have thought the world has something else waiting for me......
