Chương 45: Volume 2: Chapter 6 - Teacher's Meeting

"Teachers, have all the scores been tallied and verified? If there are no issues, we will proceed with class assignments based on these scores."

"There are no issues with the score tabulation and verification, but the class assignments for a few students might be controversial."

"Go ahead and speak. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss and resolve any potential controversies that may arise."

"First, there's Shinika from the Arnold family. Although her written exam score was only 73 and her magic potential was only 75, her practical combat test performance was excellent, achieving a perfect score. Isn't it inappropriate to assign her to Class B? Won't the Arnold family have an opinion?"

"According to the school's class assignment standards, assigning her to Class B is perfectly fine. You might be a new teacher and not know this, but our school operates without external interference; we always do what is right."

"Is that so?"

"Indeed, it is. To give an extreme example, if a student scored 0, but due to family interference, we were forced to assign him to Class A, it would only tarnish the school's reputation. The first Headmaster detested that kind of aristocratic attitude. If we can't even achieve fairness, then nurturing talent becomes impossible."

"I heard that Marquis Arnold is an upright man. He wouldn't make things difficult for us just because his daughter wasn't assigned to Class A, would he?"

"I know Marquis Arnold personally. He is indeed a man who seeks truth. If he found out we deliberately favored his daughter, he would be even more upset."

"Are you sure, Teacher Klaus?"

"I was personally taught by him. Who could be more convincing than me?"

"Furthermore, the Princess is also enrolling this year. I heard the Princess is also an upright person. She probably wouldn't like to see someone using their family's status to gain unfair advantages."

"It's wonderful that the Princess is enrolling. The dissatisfaction from other nobles towards us should significantly decrease in the coming years."

"Indeed, it's truly the Princess. Not only did her magic potential astonishingly reach 94 points, but her other two categories were also perfect scores. She is a well-deserved top student."

"So, Shinika will be assigned to Class B according to the rules. Are there any objections?"

"This…"

"You shouldn't take class assignments too seriously. A, B, C, D are just labels. The school doesn't intend to treat any class too differently. There have been instances at graduation where other classes were more outstanding than Class A. To put it plainly, it still depends on each student's effort afterwards."

"I understand, but in that case, this student named Robert is worth further discussion, Teacher Klaus. I was there when he took the test. Though I didn't see it clearly, it is said he used magic during the test and violated the rules with despicable methods. How could you give him a perfect score? That truly puzzles me."

"Ah ha ha ha! Yes, I knew you would find it perplexing."

"Did you give him a perfect score because he is the son of the great noble Anglus Family? Doesn't that contradict what you just said?"

"Yes, Teacher Klaus, I have that question too. All the new students are talking about him."

"Please explain."

"No, it's not contradictory at all. I gave him a perfect score for a legitimate reason. However, even if I explain, you might still not believe it."

"Just explain your reason first, otherwise, the other teachers won't be convinced."

"Yes, then I'll try to explain. I've personally studied swordsmanship for 20 years. Although I haven't become a top swordsman, I've seen countless swordsmen. Therefore, my only pride is having developed a keen eye for observation."

"To be honest, I have never seen anyone like that boy in my entire life. He is simply a physical monster. The wind and dust that the student talked about was blown up by sheer physical prowess and not by magic. That boy, he didn't cheat nor did he use any magic." The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"Impossible! I was there. That boy clearly hasn't received the Baptism. How could he reach that level?"

"Even if you were present, you probably couldn't tell that because you're a pure Magician. It takes a Martial Artist to understand a Martial Artist."

"I see. Indeed, that might be something only Teacher Klaus could understand."

"Speaking of which, Robert is the son of the great noble Marquis Bahod. Logically, he shouldn't be unable to use magic. If he can achieve such result with Martial Arts then what about Magic."

"Looks like he wants to hide his strength."

"If so then why did he only conceal Magic. Could it be that he is not good at Magic."

"He scored 90 in Magic Potential. I think it's impossible for him not to know Magic."

"Teachers, you're all right. I believe I know why he did this.

""Previously, a student named Toke couldn't use magic or swordsmanship and made a complete fool of himself in front of all the new students. But now, Robert is more famous than Toke among the students, which has completely conceal Toke. I believe he didn't clarify the misunderstanding precisely because of this."

"What an interesting child? Given his spirit, no matter what others say, I must give him a perfect score."

"That's absurd. Robert is a child from a great noble Marquis Family, while Toke's father is just an insignificant Baron from a border region. How could he possibly do such a thing for a classmate with such a huge difference in status?"

"On the day of the exam, the new students didn't know each other's family status due to the teachers' confidentiality. And even if they did, it's not impossible for that to happen to me. Teachers, let's set aside the noble status for a moment. Is it so incredible for one person to sympathize with another and help them?"

"This…"

"Although the method was a bit clumsy and requires luck, it was probably the best Robert could come up with at the time. Seeing him reminded me of my former Captain Belius. How nostalgic. I didn't expect to see such a fool in the Royal School."

"The eldest son and eldest daughter of the Anglus Family Family are both studying at this school, but setting aside the eldest daughter, that eldest son's character…"

"A sibling's character has nothing to do with him personally. I don't quite understand that logic. Besides, isn't that eldest daughter best proof that siblings can be different."

"But the rumours have already spread and by now they have become very exaggerated. If we give him a perfect score then what will the students think about it."

"Rumours are terrifying, Teacher Klaus's reasons cannot be used as a public reason. Instead, it will be perceived as us giving Robert special treatment due to pressure from the Anglus Family."

"But it will be too unfair to Robert if we assigned to D Class or C Class just because of some rumours. It's hard to guarantee that he wouldn't complain to Marquis Bahod and cause trouble for our school."

"What should we do then?"

"Let's leave it to the Headmaster to decide."

"Exactly, Headmaster, please make the decision."

"Well… I recruited Teacher Klaus, so I naturally trust his judgment. If Robert truly is as unique as Teacher Klaus described, then even if other students don't understand it for a while, they will eventually realize that our decision was correct."

"And, isn't Robert exactly the kind of treasure we have been looking for. He can completely represent us at the Continental Highschool War."

"That is true. If what Teacher Klaus said was true then Robert is truly a talent we need right!"

"So, it's decided then?"

"Let's confirm again. Teachers who agree to assign Robert to Class A, please raise your hand." … The next day, the class assignments were posted on four display boards at the school gate. The top of the four display boards were marked with the letters A, B, C, and D, corresponding to the four classes. Class A was the best, and D Class was the worst. This class assignment would not change for 3 years. The content in the middle listed the students' names.

Finding one's name under a letter meant being assigned to that class. When I arrived, a large crowd of students had already gathered, some joyful, some worried, creating a lively scene. I naturally went to the display board marked with the letter D first, and then immediately saw Toke's name at the very bottom. Just as I thought. I hope he isn't too disheartened. Even if it's the worst class, this is still the Royal School. It shouldn't be too bad. I looked around the crowd, but Toke wasn't there.

Since we hadn't arranged to come together, we might have missed each other. First, I'll look for my own name. Looking up from Toke's name… Not there. There was another column of names on the left. I continued searching… Still not there. I repeatedly checked all the names under the D display board several times, but my name wasn't there. No way… I had vaguely thought before that the rumours will downgrade my rank and there was a possibility to be in the same class as Toke. This is… truly regrettable.

With a feeling of disappointment, I went to the C display board and quickly scanned the names arranged in two columns. Huh? That's strange. My name still wasn't there. I looked more carefully; it really wasn't there. Surely, the teachers didn't forget to write my name due to an oversight. I hurried to the B display board and quickly scanned it. I found the familiar name, Shinika. That battle maniac was assigned to Class B, huh? Not that it matters. But I still didn't find my name. No, no way…

I shifted my gaze to the Class A display board, cold sweat breaking out. I didn't want to confirm, but I had to. I slowly walked over, still holding onto the thought that there must have been some mistake. I rubbed my eyes. There shouldn't be a second student named Robert among the new students enrolling this year. I squinted, shielding the sunlight with my hand, trying to see more clearly.

"You're… joking, right?" The very short name "Robert" was prominently listed among the first names on the Class A display board. I stared at my name for a long time. No matter how many times I looked, it never changed into someone else's name.
