Chương 22: Carol's Past

Why? Why? Why? Why ███ Wh-@#&@? Why? Why do I have to suffer? Why must I tolerate them? Why? Why? Why? Why ███ Wh-@#&@? Why? Why does that women get to command me? Why is my life so worthless? I want revenge! I want so kill her! I want.... ███████████ SCREECH! SCREECH! Memories were like a flood gate, appearing in my mind one by one, making me recall my days of humiliation in the Anglus family. Decades ago, I was hired by this family to work as a maid.

At that time, I thought my life would be happy because working for a Marquis was something that ordinary people like me couldn't even hope for. It was my happiest moment in life. The day I was brought into the Anglus estate, my mother cried tears of relief, clutching my shoulders.

"Work hard… endure a little… at least you'll live a good life." Good life. Such a simple word. Such a distant dream. But who could have thought— Who could have thought that even that wouldn't be fulfilled. How could I have imagined that I wasn't about to welcome a happy life I hoped for but a hellish life. It only took few months for my unreal dreams to be broken as I was kicked in the stomach by that women, that hateful bitch.

My internal organs churned, making it difficult to breathe, and endless pain forced tears and snot to spill uncontrollably. But that was only the beginning. No one came to help. No one stopped her. The other maids simply watched, lowering their heads as if nothing had happened. Some even smiled faintly, as if relieved that they weren't the one being beaten. Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. That was the first lesson I learned in this inhuman family.

The days that followed were no different. That bitch seemed to have become addicted to beating me to vent her anger, making my life miserable. Every few days or weeks, whenever she was in a bad mood and I happened to be nearby, she would vent her frustration on me. As a commoner, I had no resistance against her and could only endure bitterly. Slap. Kick. Pull. The sounds became familiar. Despite the ample food and nice lodging, i couldn't be happy. Daily life wasn't hard but enduring beating was.

At some point, I stopped crying. Not because it didn't hurt but because crying only made it worse. One day, I broke a porcelain cup. It was a barely visible small crack. But that was enough to warrant my death because that cup, it was the favorite of that bitch. I was dragged out into the courtyard and forced to kneel on the ground.

"Trash, who can't do proper work, doesn't need to exist in Anglus family! Deal with her." One sentence decided my fate. That day, I was beaten until I fainted. When I woke up, I felt endless pain; I realised my bones were broken and my hands were covered in blood. Clearly, they showed no mercy when dealing with me.

"He.. lp me... Someone... Help me..." I begged our weakly, unable to even see clearly what the outside looked like. But I could vaguely outline shadows of wild beasts. Was I thrown in the nearby forest? Is it already night? Am I going to die? But dying like this... I am not reconciled... Not reconciled... Not reconciled... Not reconciled... Revenge... Revenge... I want Revenge against that family... ███████████ SCREECH! SCREECH!

Strong wind rustled, causing the trees to sway wildly and strange whispers appeared in the dim and dark forest.

"@##@ Do you want revenge?" A vague voice sounded in my head. I didn't know the language but I could understand the general meaning.

"Yes. I want revenge!" I answered decisively and the world blurred into my eyes like a broken glass. To me, nothing was more important than revenge.

"Even if the cost is your soul and entire self?"

"Yes!" Asking for soul, was it an Evil God or a Devil but that doesn't matter anymore. My heart had long since been covered in darkness. So what if I give up my soul for revenge. So what if I made deal with a demon. As long as I can kill her, as long as I can make that family pay.

"Very good, contract established. You shall live until your revenge is accomplished." Pain, endless pain once again enveloped my entire body. Black mist rolled out from below, covering my entire being, seeping into my mouth, ears, and every broken part of my body. My body convulsed violently.

"AAAAAAHHHH—!!!" On that day, I was no longer human but a demon born for revenge. But I knew my limits. I couldn't possibly shake the Anglus family alone. So I focused on the Evil God who saved me. Human Sacrifice! Slaughter Ritual! Soul Sacrifice! Burial Sacrifice! In the past years. I have lost the count of blood on my hand to gain the power of the Evil God. But finally, I am going to have my revenge... Hahaha... Revenge... Revenge......
