Chương 95: Chapter 83. Journey Back

The morning was pretty uneventful. Just like yesterday, Sarah, Anna and I were joined by the other girls for breakfast. The only difference was that Cynthia and Sharon had swapped places. So now, Sharon sat next to me. Breakfast was delicious, as is always the case when it comes to Anna cooking something. After we all finished eating, we headed off to the stables to grab our horses and prepare for departure. While everyone was lining up, I was approached by Alex, Donovon and Helen." Matthew! Good morning!"

Helen was the first to greet me." Morning, Helen, how did you sleep?"" Well. And you?"" Can't complain. How about you 2?" I turned to include Alex and Donovon in the conversation. Alex and Donovon seemed to be in a good mood and we all began to chat amongst ourselves. during our chat, Anna had come by to speak to me." Master, we'll be leaving in around 10 minutes' time. King Warrick wants to have you travel at the front of the convoy with everyone else while we head back."

With that, I was about to leave before Alex called out to me." Matthew, once more, thank you for healing the Chief!"" Anytime! If you want to pay me back, prove me right." I winked at him. He wound up blushing somewhat. His face kind of reminded me of Sarah's in some ways." What do you mean, Matthew?" Helen was clueless and Donovon was pinching the bridge of his nose. Helen was waiting for my answer." It was something I told him back during the first day we arrived here."" Oh, okay! Have a safe trip home!

Also, thanks for healing me!"" You're welcome! Hopefully we all can meet again one day!" Anna guided me to the front of the convoy, Warrick, Aqua, Sarah and Cynthia were waiting for me at the front of the convoy. Sharon and Asha are slightly behind them. I guess it's to do with them being Nobles but not Royals. All of them were surrounded by guards to protect them. Once Anna and I were noticed, Aqua welcomed us." Matthew! Welcome, welcome! Are you ready to leave?"" Yes, more or less.

How about yourself, Your Highness?" Aqua was surprised to hear me refer to her like that. I gestured to the guards of the Border at the gates in front of us to show her why I did. She showed an understanding eye after that." We're also ready, My Love! We were just waiting on you to arrive so we can leave." Sarah had joined the conversation." Why is that? Shouldn't I have to head back in the back of the convoy like how I traveled here?"" That would only work if you didn't accomplish anything.

Now that you've beaten the invading Hero, it's only fitting that you, a Marquess who is Marrying me, should travel in the front of the convoy along with me, your Fiancé. Anyone who would question this, would be questioning my Father and my own account about the battle."" Yes, it's been long overdue. To think we had to placate cowards who wanted to ostracize you because you're a Human! It's too ridiculous. You should've been journeying with us in the front the whole time." Sarah explained the reasoning.

Sharon seemed to explain the personal feelings of everyone as they nodded to her words. Even the guards are nodding to her words. I guess Knights understand Knights?" The traveling seemed remarkably faster than before. With the small talk of everyone to pass the time, I hardly noticed how close we were to Nulrock. Watching Warrick using the ability of the King's Road seemed like something out of a movie.

He would touch the ground then release a small amount of mana and the land would bend and twist to create a road to travel." You've been doing this, the entire time, Warrick?" I was so amazed that I didn't even try to use any proper Titles. Warrick looked back at me nonchalantly and responded to me." Hm? Oh, this? Yes, it's quite a nice perk! Travel has gotten so much better since I became King. Do you have any idea how tedious it is to have to take a side route because the main one has some sort of problem?

I smiled at the kid, he and his friends that I healed couldn't believe that I had done it." Yes way! All it took was one cut with this sword!" I summoned Scarlet from my bracelet and showed off the blade to them. With this announcement, the tone of the travel to the Lord's mansion was jovial. We had made it to the house in no time at all.

When we arrived, the Lord greeted us with a pleasant atmosphere." My King, My Queen! Welcome again! I've heard of the news! Congratulations on your victory!"" Thank you, Lord Sybel. We're more than happy to report that Matthew was able to defeat the Hero and force a retreat from the rest!"" Matthew, you've achieved something amazing." Warrick was the first to respond. The Lord seemed to be genuinely surprised by what I've done.

After greeting him, I asked if there was a place the town kept its sick people, I was hoping to heal them. I was happily directed to the town's hospital, and I was allowed to go and heal people. However, I couldn't go alone. Instead, I was given bodyguards. It was Asha and Sharon. Anna also traveled with us as she didn't have anything to do since we both tended to our horses." Say, Matthew. Why are you doing this?"" Hm? Oh! Well, Warrick and I thought about doing this after I healed those kids of the Green Scourge.

I figured I could do some good and heal up some people on our journey back." Asha was wondering why I wanted to head to the hospital." Well... Just make sure you don't push yourself. it's only been a few days since you were treated yourself." Sharon showed concern for me. I smiled at her." Yes, I won't push myself. Besides I kind of can't."" Why is that?"" I only have access to around 60% of my total mana at the moment."" What!?" Asha was the first to react. The inevitable question came from Sharon."

Well, why is that!? Are you sick!?"" No, my Armor was damaged from the fight. In order to fix it, Julia needs around 40% of my mana every day until the Armor is fixed. I thought at first it would just be a onetime payment a day, but it seems it's a continual drain through the day. So, for the foreseeable future, I'm working with only a little more than half my mana. That should still let me be able to heal a good amount of people though."" That is why we must protect him well."

After my explanation, Anna added in her thoughts at the end. Seems she has a determination in her eyes. Sharon and Asha seemed to follow suit. They appear to be ready to enter a battle." Guys, we're just heading to a hospital and healing the terminally ill. I highly doubt we'll have to deal with any fights. But, thank you for guarding me anyways."" We are simply doing what we want to do, Master." Anna was the first to respond to me. Seems Asha and Sarah shared her sentiment.

In no time at all, I was able to find and enter the hospital. I went up to the person who was at the front desk and began to speak to her." Hello, Miss. My name is Matthew. I'm here to heal anyone who is very sick, by order of Lord Sybel and King Warrick." The lady looked at me and showed a look of disbelief." Oh! You're the human who healed all those kids the other day! Right?"" Yeah, that's me!" I pointed to myself in excitement." Oh! Wow! I didn't think I'd get to meet you! You saved my Younger Sister that day!

Thank you so much!" She showed a very thankful expression. But then, it switched to a sad one." Unfortunately, since you aren't Staff, I don't think I can allow you to see any sick. Unless you have proof of the order." At that point Anna walked up to the desk and stood beside me." Here is an Official Decree from King Warrick and in my other hand is another Decree from Lord Sybel."" Oh! Perfect! I'll call for the Head Nurse! She should be able to bring you to the ones we can only make comfortable."" Perfect!"

After the Head Nurse arrived, I was able to heal around 70 people. thankfully, there were only 43 that were considered terminal. I then moved onto lesser problems. Mostly old people with broken bones. I left the hospital dead tired. But I felt so accomplished. I ate dinner first and then passed out on my bed after a bath. The fact that I went to bed alone, but woke up with 2 guests who acted like it was perfectly normal, is a story for some other time.
