Chương 149: Chapter 132. Wyvern

Sarah, Anna, Ruby and I were on our way South to fight the Wyvern. It seems Wyverns are slightly different than how they're portrayed in media back in my world. Instead of basically being small, Dragon-like Monsters, they seem to be the closest thing to regular Dragons. Seeing as the Dragonkin are full of intelligent beings. Wyverns seem to be the less evolved of the Dragonkin. In the same way that monkeys are the less evolved version of Humans.

Ruby explained that they're giant lizards with wings and the ability to breathe fire. Depending on what Elemental-type they are, they could breathe a majority of different fires powered by their specific element. Add onto that, they have hard scales resistant to Magic and melee options. It becomes abundantly clear why Ruby was freaking out so hard after hearing the report of the Hunter who made it back from Scouting in the Southern Swamps. Sarah and Anna however, had a different reaction than Ruby.

When I turned to them after Ruby explained, I asked a simple question." Can we kill it?" Sarah and Anna looked at me with confidence." Yes." Both answered in unison." What can its material be used for?"" Its teeth and claws can be used to forge strong and durable weapons. Having a sword from Wyvern's teeth is considered one of the better options if you can't obtain a sword like Scarlet. For instance, I'd like to have a halberd made from its teeth. Anna would benefit from having a mace made from its claws as well.

Besides that, its scales can be made into great defensive armor. Which again, could be given to Anna and me to give us an edge on any enemies that come our way. Also, its meat is delicious, or so I've heard. Apparently, my Parents had some at their Coronation Feast, but Wyverns have been hard to find and kill since then."" I've heard enough, let's kill it. We can use the meat for the banquet, and we can use its materials to upgrade your equipment and then reward our hunting partners. All agreed?"

Sarah and Anna nodded their heads. I have about 60% of my mana. I suppose we should bring some support? I turn to Ruby." Ruby, will you join us?" Ruby seemed surprised by my words." Can we really kill it?"" Yes, Sarah and Anna can hit it very hard, and I can assure you that I'll keep everyone alive. However, from fixing the walls and roads earlier today, I only have around 60% of my total mana. So, we're going to hit it with everything we have. This fight is going to be quick and brutal.

You need to have no hesitation, if you get the chance to kill this Wyvern, Ruby, take it without fear, I'll protect you from any harm, I promise." Wrap. Ruby looked at me with a strange face at the last part. Before I could correct anything about what I said, Sarah locked her arms around mine and began to speak to Ruby." More or less, for this plan, protect Anna as best you can as we also attack the Wyvern to take its attention off of Anna. The plan will be similar to what Anna did against those crabs...

With Ruby's nod to Sarah's words, we quickly grabbed 4 horses while everyone began to freak out as news of the Wyvern had started making the rounds. Apparently, there's a bunker in the lower parts of Paradise, the People of Paradise and the Humans began to go down there to hide. We took off and that was the last thing that happened as we started to move South. Before long, we saw it.

The Wyvern looked to be about 3 stories high and the width of a large boat. It was breathing fire into the air with a roar. People should be scared of such a sight. And here I was, eager to kill it with my Family. I turned and Ruby seemed ready to launch herself at the Wyvern, but it hadn't noticed us yet." Ruby, Sarah! Wait! It hasn't noticed us yet! Let me give you a bit of an edge!"" Ah! I understand. Wait a moment, Ruby. This will definitely help us."

Sarah dismounted from her horse and sent it back in the direction of Paradise. We all followed her lead. I then began to channel my mana for everyone to be buffed." What are you going to do, Lord Drake?"" He's going to Buff us with his Holy Magic, Ruby. It'll increase our strength. It lasts for around 5 minutes, so we have a better chance of using our element of surprise to definitively kill it." With Anna's explanation complete, my Magic was ready." Angel's Armament, Armor and Augment!"

I buffed all of them and a golden-white glow surrounded them." Okay, that should give you a flat 3x boost to your abilities. Go wild, let's kill this thing! Also, just in case, here Ruby, Sarah." I cast Regeneration on Ruby and Sarah, just in case. The 3 girls nodded their heads after I was done Buffing them. Ruby and Sarah separated from Anna and I. Anna will channel one of her Goddesses and deliver a devastating blow, I'll fire an Angel's Spear at the same time if I find it's needed.

Sarah will attack with one of her strongest attacks as well if she sees fit to do it. And then Ruby will finish it off if it survives. / Thump! CLANG! / With our plan ready to go, Sarah started the assault with her halberd. She launched herself into the air and smashed her blade into the Wyvern's side. She pulled another one out from her Mana Storage. She looked back at me and gave me a wink. /BOOM! /"!!!!" Ruby jumped from the ground and attacked the neck of the Wyvern. No! /BAM! CRASH! / Ruby got hit! She landed a few feet away from us! I can't jump out of the bushes we're hiding in just yet! Dammit!" It's okay, Lord Matthew. Don't show me a face like that. Please, it hurts me to see." Ruby popped back up; she's only bleeding a little.

My Buffs really are crazy if that's the extent of the damage she took from that swing. I healed her quickly before I let her go back out to fight. Sarah was dancing in a sea of danger as she dodged each strike of the Wyvern with her Wind Magic up in the air. What gave her the advantage was the fact that she was twisting her body out of harm's way to stay safe. At the same time, she attacks the weak points of the Wyvern, its eyes. Seems she doesn't have too many Halberds to switch to." I'm off, Lord Matthew!"

/THUMP! / Ruby kicked the ground near us and fired herself like a bullet towards the Wyvern. The Wyvern went to swat Ruby as she flies towards the Wyvern, but Sarah had a different idea in mind." Not this time!" / Boom! /" RAAAHHHH!" Sarah used her Wind Magic to send a burst of wind into the Wyverns hand. It stopped the motion of its arm. Ruby thrust her greatsword into the Wyvern's side, it shrieked with a painful roar from its mouth.

Flames shot from its mouth towards Ruby who was still trying to pull her sword out of the Wyvern's side." Not today!" / RUMBLE! / A burst of brown light appeared beside me, and Gil Summoned a giant wall of stone to protect Ruby from the fire. It was holding well, and Ruby was able to regain the use of her sword and run from the Wyvern. I sent Gil back to preserve my mana. I heard Ruby begin to speak as she ran towards the Wyvern." Thank you, Lord Matthew!"

Ruby thanked me with a shout as she ran behind the Wyvern to slash its legs. She seemed unable to slash the Wyvern and cause damage, but with its attention on Ruby, Sarah was able to charge her Mana Blade onto her Halberd and began to charge at the Wyvern. / Clang! / She attacked its front leg and was able to draw a small amount of blood from the great beast. Again, Sarah turned and winked at me. I wish she would take this more seriously. This is dangerous after all. I turn to Anna and speak."

Anna, how goes the channeling?"" I still need time."" RAAAAHHHHHH!" / FLAP! FLAP! FLAP! / A deafening roar hurt my ears as I saw the Wyvern begin to flap its wings. Seems it's pissed off at Sarah and Ruby. But with seeing all that red, it gives me a chance to hit it where it hurts. With my eyes locked exactly on its left wing, I begin to channel my own mana. I whisper softly so it can't hear me." Angel's Spear." / CRACK! THOOM! / Chill!

And with the flash of a thunderbolt, a white spear of death struck the left wing and crashes through the soft unprotected flesh of the wing and into the ground. When my spear hit the ground, something felt off about it. I feel like I noticed a presence, but I'm not sure what it was? All I felt was a chill go up my spine." RAAAAHHHHHGGG!" / CRASH! RUMBLE! / Shake! The Wyvern roared a bloodcurdling scream as it fell to the earth. The feeling of an earthquake shook everything around me.

When the shaking had subsided, the Wyvern was standing on its legs. It began to watch Sarah and Ruby with its face scrunched in rage. Without much of a warning, it blew fire from its mouth. Sarah and Ruby were able to escape it safely. They went in opposite directions and began to attack it in a pincer formation." RAAAHHH!" Seems the Wyvern isn't a fan of being teamed-up on anymore. Sarah and Ruby began to slash at the Wyverns sides, they began to chip away slowly at the hard scales it had.

The Wyvern, at a loss of what to do, began to get desperate. It rolled its body to the right to crush Sarah. Sarah jumped high into the sky and flew away using her Wind Magic to carry her. /BOOM! / The shaking of the floor from the power of the Wyvern throwing itself against the ground was like another earthquake hit. Thankfully, everyone seemed to be safe." KYYRRAAAAHHHH!

I looked back at the Wyvern to see Ruby stabbing the right wing with her great sword and dragging it through the wing to cause a giant tear into the wing to keep it grounded. As Ruby did this, Anna spoke to me." I'm ready!" I yell to Sarah and Ruby as loud as I can." Sarah! Ruby! Retreat!" At my loud voice, they hear my words and begin to retreat, the Wyvern was confused." Scythe of Death!" A giant pale woman, the size of a giant, in a black hood made out of Anna's mana appeared behind her.

She wielded a giant scythe the size of a city block. / SHING! /" KRRAAAAHHH-" The woman teleported towards the Wyvern and proceeded to cut it in half with the scythe that was now glowing a dark purple. The Wyvern roared, but it quieted down considerably in seconds. The scythe had cut through the Wyvern and went deep into the ground. The Wyvern's eyes closed, and it drew its last breath. I carried Anna in my arms as we met back up with Sarah and Ruby. Both seemed displeased at something.

Sarah spoke to me as she arrived in front of me." You know, fighting that Wyvern was really hard! Don't you think I did a good job?" I nodded my head to her words." Of course, I think you did, but Anna used most of her mana in order to Summon that Goddess to attack the Wyvern. She needs me to carry her, relax, I'll give you a reward later." At my words, Sarah burst into a smile as she turned around to collect the body of the Wyvern. Was... Was that all done... Just to get me to promise to reward her!?

We do something pretty much every night though? I mean, the past few days, we haven't been able to, due to all of the work with the Humans, but it's not like I wouldn't if she just asked. Anna spoke to me as well." What about me? Didn't I do a good job?" Is it a virus or something? I look down at Anna and answer her question." Of course you did. I'll reward you as well. I promise."" What about me!?"

"!" To my utter shock, Ruby also asked something of me. I don't think... I hope she doesn't mean what my Wives mean. I look at her and ask a question." Well, Ruby... What do you want?" Her face went more red than usual. Did she not mean to speak that thought out loud? Sarah and Anna seem alert and are watching Ruby with great interest. What to do? Oh! I know!" Ruby, you can ask me for any one thing when we get back as a reward. How does that work for you?" Ruby smiled at my words.

Time to head back home! I think a rest day tomorrow sounds amaz----" WEAK... Sleepy! FALL! Switch! FALL! I couldn't get the end of my sentence out before I felt like I falling forward. I remembered that Anna was in my arms, so I forced myself to change my body's trajectory, I fell backwards instead. Everything went dark as I heard the girls call for me.
