Arthur took a lot of time and thought extensively on the choice of the ability. He had taken two things into consideration: whether he should choose the ability based on his current situation, or whether he should choose for his overall growth. He had already discarded the second ability, [Thermal Discharge]. The ability seemed to be less powerful compared to the others, but under normal circumstances, it would be a solid ability to have.
If he chose the first ability, [Photo Frame Trap], it would be a huge life-saving option. If he were on the outside, his choice would definitely be this ability. Currently, however, he was stuck in this mysterious place where he needed to battle continuously, so the ability would not help him much. After all, most of the combat was done by his skeletons.
Now, if he wanted to actively participate in combat, yet he did not need to be in a close combat position, he would have to choose the ability [Absolute Calculation]. With this ability, if it worked as per its description, he could analyze the enemies' weak points and command his skeletons to battle for him. He would not need to actively stay on the battlefield. With that conclusion, Arthur chose the third ability, [Absolute Calculation].
Once he chose the option, the screen changed to show the success of the ability choice. [Ability "Absolute Calculation" successfully chosen.] In the next second, a knowledge, or rather an instinct, told him he had gained something that could be used naturally, similar to the [Contract a Worker] innate ability. Following which, Arthur opened his personal details. There, he saw the one extra ability listed, which he had chosen just now. …
[Innate Abilities]: Contract a Worker (Undead Division): Summon and permanently contract laborers from the Nether-Realm. Absolute Calculation: When activated, your vision is overlaid with floating numbers and live data. By seeing the world as pure math, you can perfectly predict movements, pinpoint structural weak spots, and read your enemies' bodies. … Finally, he got his second innate ability. Although it was not a combat-type ability, it would be greatly useful in combat analysis.
People usually prayed they got a good innate ability when they awakened. The number of abilities one received was also random. If one did not get a good ability, they usually waited for their Core Layer evolution. At that time, they would randomly get innate abilities. Even though Affinities were widely used for combat, there was a very clear disadvantage to Affinities. Which was, every time one used their Affinity, it cost Mana. If Mana were to be drained, they could not use their Affinities.
Whether it was elemental or physical, it needed Mana. But for innate abilities, Mana was not needed. They could use them without this restriction. But innate abilities also came with restrictions. It was not like they could be used infinitely. Innate Abilities required one's pure innate [Constitution]. The better the overall Constitution, the better one could use innate abilities. So, most of the people who got combat-related innate abilities maintained their constitution at a perfect level.
Looking at his own body's condition, Arthur had a poor Constitution. He had never done physical exercises, and he had never eaten nutritious food. Since childhood, he had not taken care of the habits that would have increased his body's Constitution. But now that he had awakened, he should start to improve his Constitution as well. Since [Absolute Calculation] was an analytical-based Innate Ability, it would require heavy mental strength to use constantly.
Therefore, he should start doing meditation as well to improve his mental capacity. This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version. Arthur planned a lot of things he might need to do as habits in order to improve his personal growth hereafter. He could fully rely on his Skeletons; he could hire a [Combat Analyst] Skeleton Worker to solve this issue. However, if he were to consider himself, he needed to grow on his own, not fully depending on the Skeletons.
When he thought of that sinister Notebook, he knew he could not fully rely on these Skeletons. No one knew what that damn book would do at any time. So, it was better that he grew on his own to cope with any situation. But right now, he could not wait to test his new ability. He focused his concentration on Coburn and activated [Absolute Calculation]. Instantly, his vision changed from a normal visual to a numeric world where numbers moved all over the place.
Instantly, he felt a strain on his brain, but without canceling the ability, he focused on Coburn. Coburn's white figure turned into numbers, and 0s and 1s dominated the structure. Soon, those 0s and 1s started to change into different increments. Arthur could see the highest number on the structure go up to 99, and that was the limit. Every number was under that, as if it was the limitation cap. Once the number increments reached the final stage, his mind automatically discerned the weak point Coburn possessed.
It was the right shoulder position. On that position, the number shown was 45, which was the lowest number on its structure. Based on this calculation, Coburn did have a weak point, but the weak point itself was very strong. Arthur suddenly came out of the numerical vision and into the natural world. His head was in pain, and he could guess that was the time duration he could hold his analysis. However, that was not the main point here. The thing was, Coburn was a very strong Skeleton.
He had very few weak points where one could successfully attack and inflict injury to him. Maybe if he were to analyze his battle, he might find other weak points, but Arthur should avoid underestimating Coburn's capabilities. With that analysis, Arthur walked towards the location where Bathory was destroyed. He would slowly scan every skeleton to find out their weak points, which would definitely be useful in a full-blown battle like earlier.
When he reached the location, the destroyed skeleton was nowhere to be found. There was only a small, coin-like token. [Obtained Skeleton Worker 'Bathory' tag.] The bones of Bathory had turned into dust. Bathory had sacrificed himself to save his life. So, he wanted to revive him again without any failure. But he doubted he could find this [Revitalize Stone], and the time limit was only ten days. If he were in the outside world, he would have easily bought it, but here, he didn't know.
He hoped he would exit before the time limit. Arthur pocketed the tag and walked back towards the quarry. The remaining Ants were nowhere to be seen in the quarry. They must have gone into the cave after sensing their king's death, or they had left the quarry altogether. Arthur, however, decided to first clean up the dead Ants' materials. Once he had done that, then he would think whether to search for the remaining ants. Arthur summoned his Three newly hired Butchery Skeletons and Antrae as well.
He made Coburn the leader of this butchery team. He would give orders to work based on efficiency. He also ordered the other skeletons to help in the huge process so they could finish quickly and move onto a different location. Arthur was itching to hunt monsters similar to the Ant King. Gaining a new ability made him a glutton for power, determined to devour every monster.
'I would gain every one of these Ability Cards when I finished this trial,' Arthur thought.
