Arthur waited for five minutes until one of the youths with a Sword Affinity received a severe injury to his ribs. The healer was completely unable to heal the wound. The party abruptly started to retreat from the battle. However, the two adult Hunk Boars, which were as massive as transport vehicles, would not easily let them escape, madly charging at them. The leading Boar charged directly at the Shield youth. The impact sent him flying backward, landing heavily on the ground.
He groaned in pain from the impact before instantly falling unconscious. Meanwhile, the other Boar attempted to flank from the side, blocking their path of escape. They were in absolute danger. Arthur felt it was finally time to take action; otherwise, these young people would definitely lose their lives. Arthur swiftly summoned Maan. Within moments, the towering figure emerged from the ground, a massive rectangular shield adhering to its body.
"Coburn, you take the leading Boar and try to inflict a fatal wound at its ribcage," Arthur commanded. This was exactly what the Database site had hinted at.
"Be careful not to take a fatal attack from the Boar. Now, go." Coburn did not give any acknowledgment. Instead, it immediately sprinted towards the Boar that was just about to stomp the unconscious Shield youth.
"Maan, you try to stop the other Boar that is blocking their escape path. Try to contain it until Coburn can come and join the fight. Also, do not take a fatal attack from the Boar. Go." Following a similar command given to Maan, the large-postured skeleton abruptly tore through the bushes and low-hanging branches, rushing straight into the Boar's location.
"Susanne, attack the charging Boar!" the youth supporting the wounded sword youth shouted. Susanne, who possessed a Fire Elemental Affinity, squeezed out her last remaining bit of mana to attack. A massive ball of fire was thrown at the Boar, completely engulfing its body. The moment the attack landed, however, her knees buckled. She heavily slumped to the ground. Every bit of her mana was completely spent, leaving her with absolutely no energy to stand up.
When the flames finally dissipated, everyone's eyes widened in absolute shock. The Boar did not slow its charge in the slightest. The attack did not inflict any injuries whatsoever, and the beast was already a mere two feet away from the Shield youth. At this moment, everyone believed it was truly the end for him, and naturally, the next to die would be one of them. Just when they had completely given up, both physically and mentally, their exhausted bodies suddenly heard a sound.
Something was madly rushing towards them, abruptly tearing through the bushes and entering the clearing. They immediately darted their eyes towards the commotion. When they finally saw what it was, every single one of them was utterly dumbfounded. It was a white figure made entirely of bones. Holding a sword in its hand, it dashed fiercely towards the Boar. Their exhausted eyes tracked the white, bony figure.
In the very next second, just as the Boar was about to land its heavy foreleg onto the Shield youth's stomach to extinguish his life, the white figure violently crashed directly into the Boar's midsection. Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. Boom! The immense impact sent the massive Boar flying sideways. It heavily crashed onto its side, struggling madly just to stand back up. The party members were completely shellshocked by this sudden development.
'Just what the hell is that thing?' they wondered in their hearts. Standing a short distance away from the clearing, Arthur was also shocked by this scene. He never imagined Coburn could send that enormous Boar flying sideways. He already knew it was strong, having previously tanked the attack from the mutated monster in the Old-Mining district. However, he did not think Coburn would possess such power. Nevertheless, he could understand such a result; Coburn was, after all, an Expert status worker.
Without any delay, Coburn charged at the Boar, which had finally stood back up after much struggle. It dashed to the Boar's side, thrusting its sword directly at the beast's ribs. However, the Boar swiftly moved to the side. It utilized its tusk to deflect the sword, successfully preventing the blade from piercing its ribs and extinguishing its life. Coburn swiftly dashed to the side once more, repeating the exact same action. It aimed to kill the Boar as quickly as possible.
However, the Boar was very nimble for its massive size. It somehow managed to position itself to face the front every time Coburn attempted a fatal attack.
"What is that?" the Sword youth asked, a dazed expression covering his face.
"I don't know what that is, but this is our chance to escape. Let's move!" Susanne, who was currently picking up the Shield youth, urgently said.
"Finola, don't just stand there! Come and help me!" Susanne called out to the healer, who still stood completely in a trance. Following which, the party quickly moved out of the clearing, rushing into the forest and heading straight towards the dirt path. Whatever that thing actually was, it had fortunately helped them escape. If they were to waste this precious opportunity, it would truly be the end for them. However, before they could even move ten meters, a loud noise entered their ears.
They abruptly stopped their advance, quickly realizing they had not completely escaped. There was still another Boar which they had enraged by attacking. In the next second, the massive Boar exited from the bushes, its eyes locking directly onto them. Everyone felt it was truly the end for them. They were definitely going to die.
"This is the end for us; we are going to die," the healer, Finola, sobbed. Her shoulders gave out, no longer supporting the Shield youth. They had just gained a small thread of hope for escape when the skeleton saved them from the other Boar. Now that they were blocked by this second Boar, they felt thoroughly defeated. Just when their minds finally started to give up, they suddenly heard another commotion from their side. Something was dashing towards them with extreme speed.
Within a second, the entity entered their line of sight. When they finally saw what it was, their eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. It was yet another white figure made of bones. However, this one was holding a massive shield instead of a sword. Maan swiftly dashed past them, moving directly towards the second Boar. Seeing something charging towards it, the Boar flicked its forelegs into the ground in absolute rage, madly charging forward to fight the entity. [Shield Charge] Boom!
The large rectangular door shield squarely landed on the face of the charging Boar. The impact dragged the Boar a few feet backward, whereas Maan, as well, took a few steps back; the impact was simply too great. [Fortress Breaker] Maan did not take a breather. Immediately, it raised its shield high into the air, bringing it heavily down to smash the Boar's head. Another deafening boom echoed as the Boar's face abruptly plunged into the ground.
"Let's go, don't stop, move!" Susanne cried out. After seeing they were saved yet another time, she was naturally not going to stand on ceremony. It was their absolute chance to escape before some other skeleton came and attacked them.
