Arthur quickly ran out of the almost crumbling building, deliberately taking a long route towards Coburn. He absolutely did not want to go anywhere near that terrifying battle and get stuck in the chaotic commotion. Currently, Arthur was deeply pondering over what he had to do. Should he directly exit the Old Mining District, or simply stay far away from the battle location until these powerful people finally killed the monster?
However, while crossing another old building, Arthur's eyes darted towards the battlefield to check the current condition. Unfortunately, he could see nothing but thick dust and heavy debris. Yet, amidst that flying debris, he could see a green lightning flickering at certain intervals. Boom. Boom. The deafening sound did not stop for even a single second. The commotion was massive enough to be easily noticed from an entire kilometer away.
Arthur frantically ran for a while before he reached a towering steel construction. Right below that massive structure, Coburn's hollow, bony eyes were silently watching the fierce battle taking place.
"You did incredibly well, Coburn," Arthur praised as he walked near. Coburn, who was intently watching the battle, immediately turned around and stood completely still. In its bony hand, it was still tightly holding the heavy longsword. Suddenly, a concerning thought arose in Arthur's mind. If he were to secretly leave the place right now, what if Edgar actually wanted his precious sword to fight?
'Would he really use the sword in this deadly battle?' a curious thought flashed past his mind. While he was deeply pondering over this thought, the chaotic commotion suddenly erupted on the battlefield. Out of the thick dust and heavy debris, the terrifying mutated monster violently exited. Closely following the escaping monster was a mighty figure dancing with bright green lightning. It was none other than Edgar.
Within a mere second, he ruthlessly landed another incredibly powerful punch right at the incoming whip of the monster's tail. Currently, the monster trying desperately to escape from Edgar was in an unbelievably sorry state. The fearsome pincers, which were pristine earlier, were now violently broken. Its clattering legs were brutally shattered.
The ongoing battle was incredibly intense, and Iron Fist Edgar had successfully inflicted massive damage to the terrifying monster that previously could not even be scratched. However, right before Edgar could completely finish off the escaping, heavily wounded monster, an unbelievable scene occurred. A strange, bizarre black and white energy completely engulfed the beast. Suddenly, its gruesome wounds and brutally broken body parts visibly started to heal all by themselves.
'Does this monster actually possess some healing immunity?.' Arthur muttered in pure shock, witnessing just how incredibly fast the wounds and broken legs were regenerating. However, before it could fully heal, Edgar violently jumped high into the air. He ruthlessly delivered a fierce, thundering punch flickering with deadly green lightning. The terrifying force instantly sent the massive monster flying afar. When the monster frantically regained its footing, it immediately started to run for its life.
Shockingly, the direction it chose was exactly where Arthur was currently standing. Seeing the terrifying anomaly charging straight towards him, Arthur's heart almost leapt out of his chest.
"Coburn, run." Arthur desperately cried out as he frantically ran in the opposite direction, praying the monster would just blindly run straight past them. This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author's consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. However, the speed of the monster was simply too fast. Within a single second, the massive distance between the beast and the duo was shortened.
Arthur frantically pushed his body to its absolute extremes, desperately trying to escape the exact path the monster was stampeding through. But unfortunately, although Arthur had recently Awakened, he did not feel any significant difference from his earlier, ordinary physical strength. By now, the monster had already reached their location. Its vicious eyes immediately locked onto the two figures desperately running away.
With a lightning quick sweep, it ruthlessly used its giant pincers, which had already magically healed as good as new, and was just about to viciously grab Coburn's bony figure.
"Coburn, use the sword." Arthur strongly felt they could not escape this disaster. Left with no other option, he desperately cried out a strict command to Coburn. When the deadly pincers were mere inches away from Coburn's skeletal head, a crisp sound erupted. Shink. Coburn flawlessly unsheathed the sword in one single, perfect motion. It accurately deflected the terrifying pincers that were just about to crush it into bone dust.
Although it successfully deflected the deadly blow, the tremendous force still sent Coburn skidding several feet backward.
"Coburn, be careful." Arthur gave another command as he frantically ran further away from the battle zone. Meanwhile, Coburn stood completely still, fearlessly facing the massive monster. Instantly, another vicious attack came right after. The pincers ruthlessly snapped towards Coburn once again. However, Coburn swiftly moved to its right, flawlessly evading the powerful blow. Without a moment of hesitation, it used the long sword to directly cleave at the incoming pincers. Slack. An unbelievable scene occurred.
The mysterious sword smoothly went right through the tough pincers, slicing them off easily. Shrieeek. The mutated monster let out a terrifying, ear piercing cry of agony as one of its massive hands was cleanly cut down. Completely blinded by intense rage, it whipped its deadly tail straight towards Coburn. Boom. That attack ruthlessly landed on Coburn. However, in the nick of time, it perfectly used the sword to block the direct impact.
Even so, the terrifying force sent Coburn flying into the air, looking exactly like Edgar and Lena earlier. Fueled by even more madness and rage, the monster immediately turned its direction entirely towards Coburn, desperate to kill the ant that had inflicted such a severe wound. However, before it could even move a few feet, bright green lightning violently spread throughout the monster's entire body. Boom. Boom. Boom. A devastating rain of iron fists descended directly upon the monster's head.
Edgar had arrived, unleashing a terrifyingly fast barrage of attacks. The monster desperately tried to crawl away to avoid the deadly raining fists, but Edgar firmly stood right upon its massive head. With every single thundering punch, the monster went several inches deep into the hard ground. Clang. The deadly tail attack that was sneakily aimed towards Edgar was flawlessly blocked by the burly middle aged man and his giant shield.
Amidst this chaotic fight, the terrifying monster desperately tried to heal itself again with that bizarre black and white energy. But unfortunately for it, every single time it tried to emit that healing energy, it was interrupted by another thundering punch from the Iron Fist. Arthur frantically ran as fast as his legs could carry him. Finally, he successfully put enough safe distance between himself and the battlefield.
Looking back, he was completely stunned by the grueling, devastating battle between the Mutated monster and Iron Fist Edgar Bergen. Every single time Edgar threw a heavy punch at the monster's head, it actually created a small earthquake on the ground. Even though Arthur stood extremely far away, he could clearly feel the vibration of every single punch.
The monster tried devastatingly hard to escape, but with the constant barrage of attacks and its deadly tail completely neutralized by the others, it could absolutely do nothing but helplessly take the brutal beating. This terrifying barrage of thundering punches lasted for an entire minute, continuously straight. Even though the monster had completely stopped moving halfway through, Edgar ruthlessly punched without a single shred of mercy.
He absolutely did not stop until the tough carapace was violently broken open and the brain matter of the monster was thoroughly crushed. The commotion finally stopped. The silence returned to the Old Mining District, and the morning sun finally broke completely out of the clouds, shining down with a bright, warm light. Arthur slowly walked towards the center of the battlefield. What he saw was an unbelievably massive crater.
Currently, a single tall figure was casually sitting right atop the completely crushed head of the monster. Naturally, it was Edgar. The terrifying monster was completely devoid of motion. Arthur strongly felt that it was completely dead long before Edgar had even stopped his raining punches. Slowly, Lena and the others also gathered at the battlefield. Arthur could clearly see that quite a few people were severely wounded, with fresh blood heavily dripping from their heads and faces.
A few were even pitifully limping with broken legs and battered bodies. Although Arthur had originally taken this job thinking it would merely be a small monster taking shelter in the mines, he absolutely did not expect the battle to be this gruesome and dangerous. Arthur carefully walked towards the massive crater and stood firmly at its edge. Upon sensing his approach, Edgar slowly turned his head towards him. When his eyes recognized that it was Arthur... Edgar suddenly started laughing hysterically.
