The arrogant, polished politician could not handle the humiliating exposure. He could not stand watching a lazy, untucked servant effortlessly dismantle his entire life's work. The sarcastic logic broke his perfect composure entirely.
"Silence!" Dr. Raven screamed at the top of his lungs. Dr. Raven jumped out of his chair. He pushed his expensive lawyer violently out of the way. The lawyer stumbled and crashed onto the marble floor. Dr. Raven marched toward the center of the room. His face was twisted into a mask of pure, unfiltered rage. His eyes burned with crazy, fanatical obsession.
"You know absolutely nothing, you pathetic, worthless servant!" Dr. Raven roared. He pointed a shaking finger at Ken.
"You do not understand the grand vision! You do not understand what is required to rule this continent!" Princess Iris stood up quickly. She gripped the hilt of her silver rapier. She watched the crazed politician carefully. Ken did not flinch. He just slouched lower in his wooden chair. He looked at Dr. Raven with sleepy, half-closed eyes.
"I understand that you blew up a building. That is a crime. You are going to jail. Jail has terrible food." Dr. Raven's face turned totally purple. He slammed his fists against the side of the wooden desk.
"It was not a crime!" Dr. Raven shrieked hysterically. He completely forgot about his legal defense. He totally abandoned his fake alibis. His massive ego demanded validation. He confessed to everything loudly.
"The Solurius radiation was the ultimate weapon!" Dr. Raven confessed, screaming for the entire room to hear.
"We needed that bomb! The citizens of the Belmontia Empire are weak! They are soft! We needed absolute, terrifying power to secure our borders! We needed to show the rival nations that we are untouchable gods!" The three austere judges stared at him in utter horror. The Head Judge dropped his wooden gavel. It clattered against the desk.
"You murdered Dr. Carrion," the Head Judge whispered in shock.
"Yes! I ordered his death!" Dr. Raven yelled proudly. He waved his arms wildly in the air.
"Carrion was a coward! He refused to finish the blueprints! He refused to embrace true power! I had him eliminated! I ordered Anny to silence him! The horrific crimes, the explosions, the sacrifice of those innocent lives in the outer districts—it was all absolutely necessary! It was a required sacrifice for the glorious, unstoppable future of Greater Belmontia!" The courtroom was completely stunned. Nobody moved. Nobody spoke. The sheer, undeniable confession echoed off the white marble walls.
The highly expensive lawyers hid their faces in their hands. They knew the case was totally destroyed. Dr. Raven had just ruined any possible chance of an acquittal. He had sealed his own fate. Ken slowly clapped his hands together. Clap. Clap. Clap. This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
"Wow," Ken said casually. He smiled a goofy, lazy smile.
"That was a fantastic speech. Very dramatic. You should write plays. But you basically just admitted to massive treason. Thank you for making my job so incredibly easy." Princess Iris let out a deep breath of relief. She looked at Sayma. Sayma pushed her glasses up and offered a proud, polite smile. They had won. The truth was fully exposed. The Head Judge picked up his gavel. His face was stern and furious. He glared down at Dr. Raven.
"Dr. Raven," the Head Judge announced powerfully.
"You have confessed to murder, treason, and the illegal weaponization of toxic radiation. You are a complete disgrace to this Empire. I will now pass the final sentence." Up in the public gallery, Senator Norman panicked. The wealthy, corrupt Senator sweated profusely. He knew Dr. Raven was completely unhinged. If Dr. Raven went to prison, Raven would definitely tell the guards everything. Raven would expose Norman's hidden involvement in the conspiracy. Norman would lose his money, his status, and his freedom.
Senator Norman was absolutely desperate to protect himself. He needed to silence his crazed partner immediately. He needed a massive distraction. Senator Norman quickly reached into the pocket of his dark purple suit. He pulled out a small, highly advanced magical detonator. The device blinked with a harsh red light. Norman pressed the button. A massive, violently loud explosion rocked the subterranean courtroom. BOOM! The sound was totally deafening.
A huge blast of pure, destructive fire magic erupted near the back of the chamber. The massive marble pillars cracked and shattered. Chunks of white stone rained down from the ceiling. The bright magical lights floating in the air completely shattered. The courtroom plunged into dim, chaotic shadows. Thick, choking gray smoke filled the entire room instantly. Red emergency lights began to flash wildly on the walls. Absolute, violent chaos broke out. The elite nobles in the gallery screamed in pure terror.
They scrambled over the wooden benches. They ran frantically toward the exit doors. Imperial guards shouted loudly, drawing their swords and trying to restore order.
"Protect the Princess!" Naomi yelled over the deafening noise. Naomi pulled out her twin silver daggers. She dashed toward Princess Iris. Laxmi slammed her fists together. Bright orange flames burst to life, illuminating the thick gray smoke. Zinia stomped her boots on the marble floor. She pulled up a strong wall of solid rock to shield the team from falling debris. Ken Eliot did not pull out a weapon. He did not stand up to fight. He did exactly what he always did. Ken let out a high-pitched, exaggerated scream.
He grabbed his own head with both hands. He dived straight under the small wooden desk of the witness stand. He curled into a tight, comfortable ball.
"Ahhhh! Loud noises!" Ken yelled loudly from under the desk.
"I absolutely hate explosions! My ears are ringing! This is a terrible workplace environment! Someone please call a safety inspector!" In the middle of the confusing, smoky chaos, Dr. Raven realized he had a chance to escape. The crazed scientist did not wait for the guards to grab him. He turned around instantly. He sprinted through the thick gray smoke. He ran past the shattered marble pillars. He headed directly toward a hidden, secret door located right behind the judges' tall wooden desk.
"He is getting away!" Sayma shouted politely, pointing her finger toward the fleeing man.
"Dr. Raven is escaping through the back wall!" Princess Iris gripped her silver rapier tightly. Her violet eyes burned with absolute determination. She refused to let the murderer slip through their fingers.
"Vanguard, move out!" Princess Iris commanded powerfully.
"Do not let him reach the underground tunnels! We must stop him!" Naomi, Laxmi, and Zinia sprinted forward. They chased the fleeing politician into the thick smoke. The courtroom was a total disaster of screaming nobles and flashing red lights. The peaceful trial had turned into a frantic, high-speed chase. Under the witness desk, Ken stayed completely hidden. He patted the dust off his navy blue suit pants. He reached into his pocket and found another strawberry candy. He unwrapped it slowly.
