Naomi crossed her arms tightly. She looked at Anny with pure disgust.
"Luis mutated into a giant lizard. He was crying like a baby. He said you promised to share Dr. Carrion's fortune with him. He said you planned the entire assassination."
"He is a delusional stalker!" Anny shrieked. She crawled forward on her knees. She reached her hands out toward Princess Iris.
"I loved Carrion! He was my entire world! Why would I kill the man I loved?! Luis is just trying to blame me to save himself! You have to believe me! I am just a helpless victim!" Sayma opened her notebook. She clicked her pen. She looked at Anny with complete analytical logic.
"Luis explicitly stated that you orchestrated the explosion," Sayma noted politely.
"He said you provided the security codes to the laboratory. We need you to repeat the confession you made earlier. We need the details." Anny sobbed even louder. She buried her face in her hands. Her shoulders shook dramatically.
"I never confessed to anything! I do not know any security codes! I am just a normal girl! Please, stop yelling at me!" Laxmi groaned loudly. The hot-headed fire user rolled her eyes.
"This lady is giving me a massive headache. She just keeps crying. She is obviously lying. Can we just arrest her and let the Imperial Police deal with the tears?" Ira stood perfectly still near the elevator doors. Her face showed zero emotion.
"Statistically speaking, criminals utilize false displays of emotion ninety-five percent of the time when confronted by superior numbers. Her tear production is a calculated defense mechanism." Zinia cracked her knuckles. She stepped toward the blonde woman.
"Get up. You are coming with us. We will let a judge decide if you are a victim." Anny continued to wail. She refused to stand up. She pressed her face into the rug. She played the helpless victim role perfectly. She knew the 13th Unit did not have any physical evidence against her. It was just her word against a mutated street thug. If she kept crying, they could not prove a single thing in court. Ken Eliot watched the entire performance. He leaned against a plush velvet chair in the corner of the room.
He popped another strawberry candy into his mouth. He chewed it slowly. He shoved his hands deep into his pockets. He slouched his shoulders forward. His dark blue suit was wrinkled. His tie was totally crooked. He looked incredibly bored. Ken knew Anny was lying. He had literally just heard her true confession five minutes ago. He knew she was a cold, calculating spy for Senator Norman. He knew she did not care about Dr. Carrion at all. She was just stalling for time.
She was trying to frustrate the girls so they would make a mistake. If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it. Ken decided it was time to intervene. He needed to break her fake innocent act. He needed to make her panic. He needed to say the exact right words to shatter her confidence completely.
"Wow," Ken mumbled loudly. His voice echoed across the quiet penthouse.
"This is a really fantastic performance. Do you win a shiny trophy for this acting? Because I would totally vote for you. You cry very well." Anny stopped sobbing for a second. She peeked through her fingers. She glared at the messy boy with intense, hidden hatred. Naomi turned her head. She gave Ken a warning look.
"Ken, please be quiet. Do not start making your silly jokes right now. We are trying to conduct a serious interrogation."
"I am not joking," Ken replied lazily. He stepped forward. His cheap shoes made a loud scuffing sound against the white rug. Scuff. Scuff. Scuff. He walked right into the middle of the room. He stopped a few feet away from the crying woman. He casually stepped forward and leaned heavily against the back of the plush velvet chair. He crossed one foot over the other. He looked down at Anny with a massive, goofy smile. Ken prepared to drop a massive verbal bomb.
He was going to use his sarcastic slacker logic to completely destroy her defensive wall. He was going to use the names he had extracted from her mind. He was going to make her think her entire conspiracy was exposed.
"Are you absolutely sure about your story, Anny?" Ken asked sarcastically. He tilted his head to the side.
"Are you totally certain that Dr. Raven wasn't secretly involved in this little project?" The entire room went totally silent. Princess Iris gasped softly. Her violet eyes widened in pure shock. She stared at Ken. She had no idea where he got that name. Sayma dropped her pen onto the floor. Laxmi stopped tossing her flame. The elite girls looked at the messy boy in utter disbelief. Dr. Raven was a massively powerful political figure. Anny did not gasp. Anny stopped breathing entirely. Ken did not stop talking.
He kept his goofy, careless smile plastered across his face. He loudly and falsely claimed that Luis had betrayed her.
"Yeah, Luis is a very chatty guy," Ken lied smoothly. He waved his hand in the air.
"He talks a lot when he is crying. He spilled the entire, detailed conspiracy to us back at the factory. He told us everything. He told us Dr. Raven paid you a lot of money. He told us a senior politician bought this fancy apartment for you. He gave us the whole blueprint." Anny's blue eyes widened in absolute terror. The color completely drained from her beautiful face. She looked like she had just seen a ghost. Her mind raced frantically. Ken was completely lying about Luis. Luis did not know about Dr. Raven.
Luis did not know about the senior politician. Luis was just a dumb, jealous pawn. Anny had kept Luis entirely in the dark. Luis could not have possibly told them those names. But Ken spoke with such ultimate, casual confidence. He smiled like he held all the winning cards. He listed the exact, highly classified details of her secret mission. The elite girls watched Ken with extreme confusion. Naomi crossed her arms. Naomi assumed Ken was just clumsily bluffing to intimidate the woman.
She thought Ken made up a random political name just to scare Anny into talking. Sayma picked up her pen. Sayma thought Ken was using a highly irregular interrogation tactic. They all thought he was just being a loud, annoying clown. But Anny did not think it was a bluff. Anny completely panicked. She looked at Ken's confident smile. She looked at Princess Iris's serious face. Anny's brain short-circuited. She believed the lie. She believed the weak, pathetic Luis had actually betrayed her.
She thought Luis had secretly followed her. She thought Luis had somehow discovered her secret meetings with the Senator. She thought Luis had ruined her entire life. The panic overwhelmed her logic. Her intense, burning anger boiled over.
"That pathetic idiot!" Anny shrieked.
