Aidan Right now I have about thirty-one voidlings left remaining after restoring over a dozen of them while the boss was going berserk. And his physical stat is significantly lower than it was before. Which should all make this battle a lot more possible to win. That said, I'm not in the greatest shape right now with all of my current injuries. The bright side is that my unique constitution is making it so that I can still fight.
Since internal bleeding isn't a problem for me with my immense blood generation and the fact that my blood just dissipates instead of pooling up. So the only problems are with the broken bones and the pain. And the pain is immense. I grit my teeth through the pain as I keep my focus locked solely on the boss. Meanwhile the boss just narrows his eyes and swipes his sword through the air again as more void golems appear.
Except that, this time around, the blade doesn't easily cleave the air or send out a small shockwave with its sweep. The sight of that makes me feel a little satisfied as I order half of my voidlings to rush forward to attack the void golems. The elite void golems, to be specific. My eyes narrow a little when I order the other half of the voidlings to attack the boss, only to find his blade still swiping through them.
And while it doesn't slice straight through them anymore, it does still send them flying while cutting through their carapace and partially into their bodies. But it doesn't kill them in one strike anymore. I'm also not sure if the voidlings don't feel pain, or if they just completely ignore it due to the hierarchy. Either way, they completely ignore any pain and get back up to attack again.
I feel slightly hesitant towards rushing in personally to attack, since the blade will probably cleave straight through me in a single swing. Or at least partially into me. Since I don't have carapace like the voidlings do. Then again, I have armor made out of a material that seems similar to their carapace. So I might not be cleaved in two. I don't think there's any other way to significantly weaken the boss, otherwise I would try that.
Even the armor he's wearing that I thought might be some sort of System Item didn't give me any source mana when I touched it. Which was surprising. While he's fighting against my voidlings, I even try to use more void tears and rends. But all my attacks do is continue scratching and denting his armor. And after running up while the boss is distracted and trying to claw at the armor myself, only to barely do more damage than my claws, I find it pretty much impossible to break through that armor right now.
Especially when he sweeps his free arm out and sends me flying again. The only potential way to break his armor that I can see is the faint black energy emanating from wherever my Void Rends hit him. Since more scratches appear every now and then as the damage ticks up from the skill's damage over time effect. This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report. There are a couple things I can think of that might be able to kill him.
But one of them, which is focusing solely on one spot with repeated Void Rend attacks, would take a very long time to see any progress. The other, however… My gaze turns towards the destroyed battlements. … is to push him off the tower and hope for the fall to kill him. After looking at how quickly the boss is sending my voidlings flying, I decide on the latter option. To knock him off the tower.
So, once my voidlings have finished dealing with the current set of elite void golems, I change their orders to gradually pushing the void mage towards the edge of the tower. Which they manage to do bit by bit with my help in using Void Rend and Void Tear on the void mage's head. Since his eyes are the only part of him that I can see through his armor. The problem comes when the void mage seems to realize what I'm doing and throws a couple of my own voidlings off the side of the tower. Damnit.
I should've seen that coming when I decided to throw him off. It doesn't take long before I feel the connection between me and the three voidlings he threw off severing. Implying their deaths upon landing. But I still continue ordering my voidlings to push him off. All the way until they manage to get him to just a few feet away from the edge.
When the void mage tries to summon nearly a dozen elite void golems to attack my voidlings and pull them off of him, I target the elite void golems myself since I'm not near the void mage and can give them some attention. Using over a dozen Void Pits to wipe them out almost immediately with the rest of my mana all at once. Only to regain all of that mana right back through the Void Pits and more. The void mage's eyes turn towards me as the purple energy shining from them flare. Likely in anger.
Then the void mage raises one hand, making a large orb of purple energy begin to form above his head. And if that was all, it wouldn't be much of a problem. But all of the shattered mana cores all around the tower's roof all explode at once, with the small amount of void mana left in each one rushing towards the orb. Expanding the orb's size more and more. The void mage suddenly grows spikes made of void energy on the bottom of his armored boots, piercing into the ground as he prepares his attack.
Not even bothering with trying to throw off the voidlings anymore now that the spikes are digging into the tower. Significantly increasing the difficulty on the voidlings to push him. But they still continue to push him, dragging the void spikes through the ground as they go. Then, as if none of that is happening, the void mage lets out a loud roar as he throws the large orb directly at me. I break into a run to get as far away from the void orb as possible.
Even throwing up several Void Pits in the path of the attack. Yet, despite all of that, the void orb continues on its path towards me. Just with a little less void mana in it now. Until it finally crashes into the tower several feet away from me. Sending me flying from the impact as the outer edges of the explosion slams into me. I feel the pain growing significantly stronger as a lot of my armor is devoured by the attack. But I'm still alive, and when I look at myself, I don't find any fatal injuries.
Or, at least, not any fatal injuries for someone with my constitution. Since over half of my legs have had most of their skin devoured by the remnants of the explosion. Practically skinning my legs from the knees down. Which hurts like fucking hell. But it still seems like the damage isn't much considering the size of the explosion. Which is probably because of my immense void affinity. I turn my pain-addled focus back towards the void mage right as the void mage is being pushed over the edge.
Making me let out a sigh of relief. Good… that should kill him off. I collapse onto my back as the voidlings all stop moving at the edge of the tower. But when over ten seconds pass with nothing happening, I begin to feel like something's wrong. Then I hear a loud roar. A very familiar roar, albeit sounding a little different from the last times I've heard it. No way… did he really survive that fall? I grit my teeth as I climb to my feet, pushing through all of the immense pain I'm feeling.
Using all of the years of experience I built up ignoring the gnawing pain of the hunger to ignore the pain as best I can. Even having some of my voidlings help me walk over. Only for the sight I see when I reach the edge of the tower to send a chill down my spine. Because the boss is still alive, and is even standing on his feet.
