Twenty years had passed since the final battle. The universe had changed beyond recognition. There were no Celestial Courts. No Divine Gates. No Origin Core. No World Tree connecting every reality. And no chosen hero. For the first time in recorded history... Humanity had no one waiting to save it. And somehow... That was exactly what Rayan had wanted. The Academy of Dharma still existed. But it was no longer an academy for warriors.
It had become a place where people studied history, Astra theory, philosophy, medicine, science, magic, and the countless paths civilization had created. Above the main entrance were three words: CHOOSE. LEARN. LIVE. A young girl ran through the courtyard.
"Master Siena!" Siena turned. The girl stopped in front of her.
"Someone is fighting again." Siena sighed.
"Who?"
"Two students."
"Why?"
"They disagree about the strongest Astra." Siena smiled.
"Of course they do." She walked toward the training field. Two boys stood facing each other. One held a wooden sword. The other had awakened a newly discovered Astra.
"Mine is stronger!"
"No, mine is!" Siena crossed her arms.
"What makes an Astra strong?" The boys looked at her. Neither answered. She smiled.
"That's what you should be asking." Outside the academy... Rayan was repairing a fence. He had spent the last twenty years doing things no legend would ever mention. Building houses. Teaching children. Helping farmers. Traveling between villages. Occasionally getting dragged into arguments because people still recognized him. He had once been the strongest Astra wielder in existence. Now... He was terrible at carpentry. Siena approached.
"You're doing it wrong." Rayan looked at the fence.
"It's standing."
"Technically."
"Then it's working." She laughed.
"You haven't changed." Rayan smiled.
"Neither have you." A messenger suddenly arrived. He was young. Maybe seventeen. He carried the symbol of the Academy.
"Master Rayan!" Rayan turned.
"What happened?" The messenger handed him a letter.
"An expedition found something beneath the northern continent." Rayan opened it. His expression changed.
"What?" Siena noticed.
"What is it?" Rayan handed her the letter. She read it. Then looked at him.
"That's impossible." Rayan nodded. The message was short. WE FOUND A DHARMA FRAGMENT. IT IS STILL ALIVE. Rayan stared toward the distant mountains.
"I thought Dharma had changed."
"It did."
"Then why is there a fragment?" Siena looked at the letter again.
"Maybe it isn't yours." Rayan shook his head.
"It shouldn't belong to anyone." That evening... Rayan, Siena, and a small expedition traveled north. The journey took several days. When they reached the ruins... They found an ancient chamber buried beneath the earth. No Astra symbols. No divine inscriptions. No traces of the old civilizations. Only a single door. Rayan touched it. The door opened. Inside... A golden light floated above a stone pedestal. The Dharma symbol appeared. Rayan stopped breathing. Siena whispered:"Rayan..."
"I know." The golden light moved toward him. But instead of entering his body... It stopped. Then turned toward a young girl standing behind them. The girl was one of the academy students. She looked terrified.
"Why is it looking at me?" Rayan stepped aside. The fragment moved closer. A voice echoed through the chamber.
"The Dharma has no heir." Everyone froze. The girl stared at the light. The voice continued.
"Because the age of heirs has ended." The fragment transformed. It became a small golden seed. Then... It fell into the girl's hands. Rayan smiled. The girl looked at him.
"What does this mean?" Rayan answered:"It means nothing has chosen you." She looked confused.
"Then why did it come to me?" Rayan looked at the golden seed.
"Because..." He smiled.
"... you chose to reach for it." The chamber suddenly shook. A deep sound came from beneath them. Siena drew her weapon.
"That's not Dharma." Rayan's smile disappeared. The golden seed cracked. Black light emerged from inside it. A voice whispered:"Then perhaps the Void has chosen as well." Rayan stared at the darkness. The girl stepped backward.
"Is that..." Rayan nodded.
"Yes." The old conflict wasn't returning. Something else was happening. The new universe was producing its own balance. Without gods. Without authors. Without chosen heirs. And for the first time... Rayan realized the final lesson of Dharma had one last test. Could humanity survive... without him? He looked at Siena. She understood immediately.
"You're not going to fight." Rayan smiled.
"No." He stepped backward.
"This time..."
"... they will." The young girl raised the golden seed. The darkness answered. Two new lights appeared. One golden. One black. And Rayan finally understood. His story was ending. Their story... Was beginning. The chamber trembled. Golden light surrounded the young girl. Black energy surrounded the empty space before her. The two forces did not attack. They simply existed. Rayan watched silently. Siena whispered:"What are they waiting for?" Rayan smiled.
"The same thing we once waited for."
"What?"
"A choice." The girl looked at the golden seed in her hands.
"What am I supposed to do?" Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon. Rayan shook his head.
"That's the wrong question." She looked at him.
"Then what should I ask?"
"What do you want?" The girl stared at the seed.
"I don't know." Rayan smiled.
"Good." She frowned.
"Good?"
"Not knowing means you haven't been forced into an answer." Rayan stepped backward.
"Take your time." The black energy suddenly formed a figure. Not a monster. Not a god. A young boy. He looked frightened. The girl stared at him.
"Who are you?"
"I don't know." Rayan's eyes narrowed. The boy looked at his own hands.
"I woke up here." The golden seed glowed. The girl looked at Rayan.
"Is he dangerous?" Rayan shook his head.
"I don't know."
"Can you defeat him?"
"Probably." The girl waited.
"But I won't."
"Why?" Rayan smiled.
"Because this isn't my story." The two young wielders stared at each other. Neither attacked. The chamber became quiet. Finally... The girl extended her hand.
"What's your name?" The boy hesitated.
"I don't have one." She smiled.
"Then choose one." The boy stared at her hand. After a long moment... He took it.
"Kael." Rayan almost laughed. Siena noticed.
"What?"
"Nothing." He looked toward the two children.
"Some names seem determined to survive." The golden and black energies began intertwining. The chamber stopped shaking. The Dharma seed changed. It no longer looked like an Astra. The black energy changed too. Neither became stronger. Instead... They became smaller. Human-sized. Human-controlled. Rayan finally understood. The new universe wasn't recreating the old power system. It was improving it. The old world gave people Astras. The new world gave people choices about their Astras. The girl looked at Rayan.
"Will you teach us?" Rayan shook his head.
"No." Her face fell. Siena laughed.
"Don't worry." Rayan looked at her.
"You'll teach them." She smiled.
"Of course." Rayan continued:"And everyone else will teach them." The girl nodded.
"What about you?" Rayan looked toward the chamber entrance.
"I'll be somewhere."
"Where?" He smiled.
"Wherever I'm needed." They left the ruins. The sunrise waited beyond the mountains. The girl walked beside Siena. Kael walked beside her. Rayan followed several steps behind. For the first time... He wasn't leading. He wasn't protecting. He wasn't deciding. He was watching. And somehow... That felt more meaningful than becoming a god ever had. Years later... The two children became the first teachers of the new Astra generation. They never became kings. They never became gods.
They never claimed the title of heirs. They simply taught others how to choose. Their academy eventually became larger than the Academy of Dharma. Its name was: THE ACADEMY OF CHOICE Above its entrance were three words: NO CHOSEN ONE. Rayan returned to the academy one final time. The old students were gone. New generations filled the halls. Some recognized him. Some didn't. He preferred the second group. He walked toward the courtyard. Siena was waiting beneath the old lotus tree.
"You came back."
"I promised." She smiled.
"How long will you stay?" Rayan looked at the students.
"Not long."
"Where are you going?" He looked toward the horizon.
"Somewhere quiet." Siena laughed.
"You've been saying that for twenty years."
"Maybe I'll succeed this time." She took his hand.
"I'll come with you." Rayan looked at her.
"You sure?"
"Always." They left the academy together. No army followed. No kingdom celebrated. No prophecy announced their departure. The former Dharma Heir simply walked away. And nobody stopped him. Because the world no longer needed him. That was his greatest victory. At the edge of the continent... Rayan stopped. He looked back. The Academy stood beneath the sunrise. Thousands of students walked through its gates. None were waiting for a hero. They were becoming their own. Rayan smiled.
"The story really is over." Siena looked at him.
"Are you sad?" He thought for a moment.
"No."
"Why?"
"Because stories shouldn't belong to the person who starts them." He looked toward the endless road.
"They belong to the people who continue them." Siena rested her head against his shoulder.
"Then let's continue ours." Rayan smiled. They walked forward. Far above them... A tiny golden light appeared. Then a black one. Then a colorless one. Three paths. Three possibilities. But this time... No one controlled them. No one watched from above. No author held the pen. The universe continued writing itself. And somewhere within that endless story... A young girl raised a golden Astra. A young boy raised a black Astra. They looked at each other. And chose to stand together. Not because destiny demanded it.
Not because prophecy commanded it. But because... They wanted to. Rayan's final words were never recorded. But Siena remembered them. He had looked toward the sunrise and said:"The strongest person isn't the one who controls the future."
"It's the one brave enough to let others choose theirs." And with those words... The legend of Rayan Ashvar finally became history. Not the history of a king. Not the history of a god. Not the history of the strongest Astra wielder. But the history of a boy who was once called the weakest... And who changed the meaning of strength forever. To be continue....
