The remaining six gates stood in complete silence. TRUTH. UNITY. LOVE. FAITH. JUSTICE. SACRIFICE. Beyond them, the darkness surrounding the World Tree continued to expand. The Dreamers were coming. Rayan could feel their presence even from within the Trial. They were no longer watching. They had decided. The final war was inevitable. Rayan stepped toward the Gate of Truth. The moment he touched it... The world disappeared. He stood inside a massive hall filled with mirrors.
Every mirror showed a different version of himself. The weak prince. The frightened child. The ruthless king. The lonely warrior. The hero. The villain. The savior. The destroyer. Every possible Rayan stared back at him. Then one mirror stepped forward. Its reflection moved independently.
"You call yourself Dharma." Rayan stared at it.
"Yes."
"Then answer honestly." The reflection smiled. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
"Do you want power?" Rayan remained silent. The reflection continued.
"Do you enjoy being called the strongest?" Another pause.
"Do you want everyone who mocked you to kneel?" Rayan's fingers tightened around the First Quill. The truth hurt.
"Yes." The reflection smiled.
"Then you're no different from the people you defeated." Rayan lowered his eyes. For years... He had convinced himself that his strength existed only to protect others. But somewhere inside... There had always been another desire. To prove himself. To show everyone who had laughed at him... That they were wrong. Rayan finally spoke.
"I wanted revenge." The mirrors shattered.
"I wanted recognition." More mirrors broke.
"I wanted power." The final mirror remained.
"And sometimes..."
"... I still do." The hall became completely silent. The reflection smiled.
"Then why should you hold the Dharma Astra?" Rayan looked directly at himself.
"Because Dharma isn't the absence of darkness." He raised the First Quill.
"It's choosing what to do with it." The final mirror shattered. TRIAL COMPLETE Gate of Truth Result: PASSED The Gate of Unity opened next. Rayan entered... And found himself alone. No Kael. No Caelum. No Aster. No Sophia. No allies. No Kingdom of Stories. Only an endless battlefield. A voice echoed from the darkness.
"Unite with whom?" Rayan looked around. There was nobody. Then he understood. Unity did not mean standing beside people. It meant understanding them. He closed his eyes. His Dharma Sight activated. Suddenly... He could see the hearts of everyone across the battlefield. Fear. Anger. Love. Regret. Hope. Every emotion connected them. Rayan extended his hand. One golden thread appeared. Then another. Then thousands. Millions. Across every realm... People suddenly felt one another's emotions.
A soldier felt the fear of the enemy standing before him. A king felt the hunger of his people. A warrior felt the grief of the person he was about to kill. Weapons slowly lowered. The battlefield became silent. TRIAL COMPLETE Gate of Unity Result: PASSED The Gate of Love opened. Rayan found Siena. She stood beneath a field of white lotus flowers. For a moment... He forgot everything. The war. The Dreamers. The World Tree. The First Quill. He simply walked toward her. Siena smiled.
"You finally came." Rayan stopped.
"Are you real?" She laughed.
"Does it matter?" He understood. The Trial wasn't asking whether he could love someone. It was asking whether he could accept love without allowing fear to control him. Siena stepped closer.
"You've spent your whole life protecting everyone."
"And who protects you?" Rayan couldn't answer. She placed her hand over his heart.
"You don't have to carry everything alone." The illusion began fading. Rayan reached for her.
"Wait." Siena smiled.
"You already know where I'll be." The lotus field disappeared. Only a single flower remained in Rayan's hand. TRIAL COMPLETEGate of Love Result: PASSED Three gates remained. FAITH. JUSTICE. SACRIFICE. Outside the Trial... The first Dreamer opened its enormous crimson eye. The other Dreamers had finally reached the World Tree. Sophia looked toward the approaching darkness.
"They're here." Archeon raised his sword. The Final Narrator lifted his quill. The Seven Authors prepared their final defenses. And somewhere within the Trial... Rayan stood before the Gate of Faith. Its door slowly opened. Inside... There was nothing. No enemy. No vision. No path. Only darkness. Rayan took one step forward. And the door closed behind him. To be continue....
