The colossal gateway remained open. Half of it radiated brilliant white light. The other half was consumed by absolute darkness. Between them flowed countless rivers of glowing symbols—the very laws that governed creation. Beyond the gateway... Neither space nor time existed. Only the Origin Core. No one moved. Even the Seven Authors stared at the gateway with solemn expressions. The Golden Author finally broke the silence.
"We have not crossed that threshold..."
"... since the First Age." Mira slowly looked toward Rayan.
"Once you step through..."
"... there will be no turning back." Far beyond the Library, the World Tree trembled violently. Its roots stretched across every realm. Every kingdom. Every continent. Every forgotten civilization. For thousands of years, it had silently supported existence. Now... It was beginning to wither. Golden leaves drifted from its branches like falling stars. Each leaf represented a living world. One by one... They began fading. Inside the Kingdom of Ayanor... King Dasrath watched the heavens.
The people gathered outside the palace. No one understood what was happening. But everyone felt it. Children clutched their parents. Soldiers lowered their weapons. Even the wind carried an unfamiliar sadness. Dasrath quietly whispered,"Come back..."
"My son." Back inside the Library... Kael rested his sword across his shoulder.
"So..."
"This is the last road." Caelum smiled faintly.
"We've survived worse." Aster laughed softly.
"No..."
"I don't think we have." The four exchanged silent glances. They no longer needed promises. Their journey together had forged something stronger than words. Rayan stepped toward the gateway. The First Quill glowed in his hand. The Origin Keys around the four heroes suddenly rose into the air. Golden. Black. Blue. Crimson. The keys merged into a single radiant emblem. The gateway responded. Its massive doors opened completely. A voice older than the Seven Authors echoed through existence.
"The Four Kings have arrived." This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
"Access to the Origin Core granted." The moment they crossed the threshold... Everything changed. The heroes found themselves standing on an endless sea of glass. Above them... There was no sky. Instead, billions of floating worlds drifted in silence. Some were thriving. Others had already turned gray. Many existed only as fragments. Each one was connected by threads of light to an enormous crystal suspended at the center of reality. The Origin Core. It pulsed like the heart of creation itself. With every beat...
A new star was born. Another faded away. At the foot of the crystal stood the Origin Editor. It had abandoned its colossal form. Now it resembled a lone warrior clad in silver armor. No wings. No giant body. Only a single silver sword resting beside it. Its presence, however... Was infinitely greater than before. The Final Narrator stepped beside Rayan. For the first time, it addressed the Origin Editor not as an enemy... But by a name.
"Archeon." The silver warrior slowly opened its eyes.
"I wondered..."
"... when you would remember." The Seven Authors froze. The Librarian's hands trembled.
"Archeon..."
"The First Editor..."
"So the legends were true." Archeon looked toward Rayan. His silver eyes were calm. Without hatred. Without anger.
"You have come to stop me." Rayan nodded.
"If that's what it takes to protect the future." Archeon sighed.
"You still misunderstand." He slowly placed a hand upon the Origin Core. Immediately... Thousands of dying worlds appeared around them. Children crying beneath ruined skies. Kingdoms swallowed by endless darkness. Worlds destroyed not by war... But by their own endless greed.
"You believe I erase worlds..."
"... because I hate them." He looked directly into Rayan's eyes.
"I erase them..."
"... because they have already chosen to destroy themselves." Silence fell. Even Kael had no answer. Archeon's voice remained steady.
"If every story is allowed to continue forever..."
"Suffering also becomes eternal." He drew his silver sword.
"So tell me, Unwritten King..."
"Can you save every world?" Rayan looked around. At the countless broken civilizations. At the fading stars. At the impossible burden resting upon the Origin Core. He realized... This wasn't a battle between good and evil. It was a battle between two impossible choices. The First Quill shone brightly. Rayan calmly answered,"No."
"I can't save every world." Archeon slowly nodded.
"Then prove..."
"... that even one world is worth believing in." The Origin Core erupted with blinding light. The final trial... Had begun. The Origin Core pulsed. Each heartbeat echoed through every realm. A world was born. A world faded. Another collapsed beneath its own hatred. Rayan watched silently. For the first time, he witnessed creation without illusion. Worlds were not destroyed only by monsters. They were destroyed by their own people. Greed. Hatred. Fear. Pride. These were the greatest enemies of every civilization.
Archeon rested his silver sword upon the crystal floor.
"I have watched ten million worlds." His voice carried no arrogance. Only exhaustion.
"I gave every one of them freedom."
"They all repeated the same mistakes." He raised his hand. Thousands of glowing spheres appeared around them. Each contained the history of a different world. One civilization destroyed itself through endless war. Another exhausted every natural resource until nothing remained. One kingdom enslaved every neighboring race before collapsing into rebellion. Another worshipped false gods until it forgot its own humanity. Every ending... Different. Yet somehow... Exactly the same. Kael clenched his fists.
"There had to be another way!" Archeon looked at him.
"I searched for one."
"For longer than your universe has existed." Silence followed. Even Kael had no answer. The Final Narrator stepped beside Archeon.
"You created me..."
"... to end what could no longer be saved." Archeon nodded.
"And I regret it." The Final Narrator lowered its head.
"For countless ages..."
"I believed endings were mercy." Rayan looked at the ancient being.
"And now?" The Final Narrator answered quietly.
"Now I believe..."
"... some stories deserve another page." The Seven Authors slowly approached. The Golden Author bowed deeply before Archeon.
"We failed."
"We believed we could preserve every story." The Emerald Author spoke next.
"We forgot that stories must also grow." Finally... The Violet Author smiled.
"And humanity accomplished what we never could."
"They changed us." Archeon closed his eyes.
"So..."
"The Authors have learned."
"They have."
"The Narrator has changed."
"It has." He turned toward Rayan.
"And what have you learned, Dharma King?" Rayan remained silent for a long moment. He looked toward the countless dying worlds surrounding the Origin Core. He could not save them all. Archeon was right. No king possessed that power. But then... He remembered something the First Storyteller had said.
"The strongest king is not the one who changes the world."
"He is the one who inspires the world to change itself." Rayan smiled.
"I finally understand." He walked toward one of the fading worlds. Instead of pouring divine power into it... He gently touched it with the First Quill. Nothing happened. Kael frowned.
"That's it?" Rayan nodded.
"Watch." Inside the tiny world... A frightened child found an abandoned book. A weary teacher chose to reopen a ruined school. A soldier lowered his weapon instead of striking. A queen accepted peace instead of revenge. Tiny choices. Almost invisible. Yet... One by one... The gray world slowly regained its color. Not because Rayan saved it. Because its people chose to save themselves. Archeon's silver eyes widened.
"The Living Story..."
"So this is your answer." Rayan turned toward him.
"I can't carry every world."
"No one can."
"But I can give them something they never had."
"A chance." The Origin Core responded. The crystal heart glowed brighter than ever before. For the first time in countless ages... New branches began growing from the World Tree. Not created by the Authors. Not written by the Narrator. Born from the choices of living people.
WORLD SYSTEM Living Story Confirmed Creation Authority Updated Hope Recognized as a Fundamental Law Origin Core Synchronization: 12% Suddenly... The Origin Core shook violently. A deep crack spread across its surface. Then another. Then hundreds more. Mira's expression changed instantly.
"No..."
"This wasn't supposed to happen!" The Librarian looked in horror.
"The Core is rejecting itself!" Archeon stared at the spreading cracks. For the first time in billions of years... Fear crossed his face.
"It has awakened..." Rayan looked toward the crystal.
"Awakened?" A voice echoed from within the Core. Unlike Archeon. Unlike the Final Narrator. Unlike even the First Storyteller. It was ancient. Boundless. And filled with unbearable sorrow.
"My children..."
"... why have you forgotten me?" The entire Origin Core shattered. From its center... A radiant figure of pure white light slowly opened its eyes. To be continue....
