Darkness. Rayan stood alone. There was no ground beneath his feet. No sky above him. No sound. Not even the faint pulse of the First Quill. For the first time since awakening the Dharma Astra... Rayan could see nothing. His Dharma Sight was useless. He reached for the First Quill. Nothing. He reached for the Dharma Dragonblade. Nothing. Even his own heartbeat seemed distant. Then a voice appeared.
"What do you believe in?" Rayan looked around.
"Who are you?" No answer. The voice returned.
"If you cannot see the path..."
"If you cannot feel your power..."
"If every person you love disappears..."
"What remains?" Rayan remained silent. The darkness began showing him memories. His first awakening. The forest. The Hollow General. Pavan. The exile. The Divine Gate. The First Age. Every battle. Every victory. Every loss. Then... Everything disappeared. Rayan stood alone in a completely empty world. No kingdoms. No friends. No enemies. No gods. No Dreamers. Only himself. A golden notification appeared. Then immediately vanished. The World System was gone. Rayan stared at his empty hands.
"So..."
"This is what remains." He closed his eyes. For years, he had relied upon the Dharma Astra. Then the First Quill. Then his companions. Then the memories of everyone who believed in him. But now... Nothing remained. The voice returned.
"Without power..."
"Without destiny..."
"Without witnesses..."
"Who are you?" Rayan thought about it. For a long time... If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it. He had believed the answer was simple. Prince. Warrior. Dharma Heir. King. Unwritten King. But those were titles. Not identity. He slowly smiled.
"I am Rayan." The darkness trembled.
"That's all." The voice became louder.
"And what do you believe?" Rayan looked toward the endless darkness.
"I believe..."
"... that tomorrow is worth reaching." A tiny light appeared. It was barely visible. A single golden spark. Rayan walked toward it. With every step... The darkness became heavier. Memories of failure appeared around him. People mocking him. Enemies defeating him. Friends dying. Siena disappearing. His father's disappointed eyes. The destruction of Ayanor. The Final Eclipse. The World Tree burning. Every possible future in which he failed. The darkness whispered.
"Turn back." Rayan kept walking.
"You cannot save everyone."
"I know."
"You cannot defeat every enemy."
"I know."
"You cannot guarantee tomorrow." Rayan smiled.
"That's why it's called faith." The golden spark suddenly exploded. A massive white lotus appeared beneath Rayan's feet. The darkness shattered. The First Quill returned to his hand. But it had changed. A thin golden line now ran through its center. TRIAL COMPLETE Gate of Faith Result: PASSED Principle Recognized: Faith does not require certainty. Faith is choosing to move forward without it. Rayan opened his eyes. Three gates now remained. JUSTICE. SACRIFICE. And the final gate... UNKNOWN. But something was wrong.
The final gate had begun cracking. A voice echoed from beyond it. Not the Dreamers. Not Sophia. Not the First Storyteller. Something else. Something familiar. Rayan's eyes widened. He knew that voice. It was his own.
"Rayan..."
"Don't open the final gate." The First Quill trembled in his hand. Rayan slowly approached the door.
"Who are you?" The voice whispered:"The version of you..."
"... who already saw the ending." The gate began opening. Rayan froze. For the first time since beginning the Trial... He felt genuine fear. The final gate opened. Rayan stood motionless. Beyond the doorway was another version of himself. Same face. Same golden-crimson eyes. Same black hair. But this Rayan looked older. Much older. His clothes were torn. His body was covered in scars. And in his hand... He carried a broken Dharma Dragonblade. The older Rayan stared at him.
"You shouldn't have come this far." Rayan tightened his grip on the First Quill.
"Who are you?" The older version laughed bitterly.
"You."
"An ending that already happened." The darkness around them changed. A vision appeared. Rayan saw himself standing before the World Tree. The Dreamers had awakened. Sophia was gone. The Seven Authors had fallen. Kael, Caelum, Aster, Siena, Cassian, and Lyra were dead. The World Tree was burning. And Rayan... Was alone. The older Rayan raised his broken blade.
"I won." Rayan stared at him.
"You won?"
"I defeated the Dreamers."
"Then why does this world look like this?" The older Rayan looked toward the burning World Tree.
"Because I chose victory..."
"... over everything else." Rayan's expression hardened.
"How?"
"I sacrificed everyone." The older Rayan's voice cracked.
"I believed one life was worth billions."
"So I made the choice."
"I killed the Dreamers."
"I destroyed the Origin Core."
"I became the only authority over creation." He looked down at his broken sword.
"And I saved the universe." Rayan stared at him.
"But you lost everything." The older Rayan smiled sadly.
"Exactly." The vision disappeared. The older Rayan stepped closer.
"That's the ending waiting for you."
"Become strong enough."
"Take control."
"Destroy anything that threatens your people."
"Eventually..."
"... you will become the same thing you once hated." Rayan remained silent. The First Quill glowed faintly.
"What do you want me to do?" The older Rayan looked directly into his eyes.
"Choose differently." The darkness vanished. Rayan suddenly found himself standing in the middle of the final battlefield. Siena stood before him. Alive. Kael was beside her. Caelum and Aster stood behind them. King Dasrath was there. Cassian. Lyra. Sophia. The Seven Authors. Archeon. The Final Narrator. Everyone he loved. Everyone he had fought beside. All of them were alive. The World Tree shone brilliantly above them. Rayan's heart nearly broke from relief. Then the older Rayan's voice echoed.
"You can have this."
"All of them."
"No more deaths."
"No more suffering."
"No more war." A golden crown appeared before Rayan. The crown of absolute authority. If he wore it... Every future would obey him. No one would ever die without his permission. No war would ever begin. No tragedy would ever occur. Perfect peace. Rayan reached toward the crown. Siena smiled.
"Take it." Kael nodded.
"You deserve it." His father stepped forward.
"My son..."
"Protect us." Rayan's fingers touched the crown. Then... He pushed it away.
"No." Everyone froze. Rayan looked at the people he loved.
"I don't want a world where everyone survives because I control them."
"I want a world where they survive..."
"... because they choose to." The illusion shattered. The older Rayan smiled. For the first time... He looked peaceful.
"Good." His body began dissolving into golden particles. Rayan watched silently.
"Thank you." The older Rayan nodded.
"Don't become me." Then he disappeared. TRIAL COMPLETE Gate of Faith Final Lesson: Faith is trusting people with the freedom to choose. The Trial suddenly disappeared. Rayan returned to the space between the Gates. Only two remained. JUSTICE. SACRIFICE. But the First Quill had begun glowing intensely. A new message appeared. FINAL TRIAL APPROACHING Two Gates Remaining Current Progress: 14 / 16 Warning: External Breach Detected Rayan looked upward. The white Trial realm was cracking. Through the cracks...
He saw the World Tree. And beyond it... Millions of crimson eyes. The Dreamers had begun attacking. Sophia's voice echoed through the fracture.
"Rayan!"
"We need you!" Rayan raised the First Quill.
"I'll be there." He turned toward the Gate of Justice. Its doors opened. Inside waited a throne. And upon that throne... Sat every enemy Rayan had ever defeated. The Veil. The Hollow General. The Celestial Court. Every villain. Every tyrant. Every being he had judged. A single question appeared above them.
"Who deserves to be forgiven?" Rayan stepped inside. The Gate of Justice closed behind him. To be continue....
