The one who had been pierced through the abdomen was already dead, and the one with the shoulder being stabbed was alive while also being embedded on the trunk of a huge tree but was on his way to meet the shinigami. But the man who was under the chains of Rei didn't even bother to look at the situation of his colleagues, and just looked at Rei with huge eyes, almost threatening to leave the sockets. Of course, Rei couldn't see that as the man was under the mask.

"You.. You.. How do you know that jutsu?" The man seemed to recognize that jutsu and was shaking in terror as he was being tied down and the chains around him were getting tighter with every passing second. Rei was surprised that someone could even recognize it. It had been some time since Kushina had shown that jutsu, more than a decade now, so the fact that this man knew about the jutsu meant that he was quite high on the pecking order.

"Aww.. You recognize the jutsu.. That's quite surprising.. Given it's been years since someone used it." Rei said with a very bubbly tone as if he was a baby. He was clearly mocking the man.

"You.. It's impossible. The Uzumaki clan was destroyed long ago and your parents don't have any connection to the Uzumaki clan." The man gritted his teeth as he was trying to force his way out using his strength, but the chains were too tight.

"So Danzo did go through my records." Rei mumbled, enough to make the man shiver. In their organization, they would never mention his name and any plans couldn't be uttered because of the seal. So Rei knowing his name was already a taboo, and the way he casually spoke of it made him tense up more and more, and more desperate to get out of the binding.

"You think you can detain us or kill us? Konoha will know of this betrayal and you will be executed for being a traitor." The man said with a voice laced with anger. He couldn't believe that their information was so wrong and that he was a member of the Uzumaki clan. Danzo had tasked them to shadow Rei and capture him after he came to know about him knowing the Hiraishin. According to the reports he was given, the genin was new to the technique and could only escape and not use it for fights.

They had watched the tapes of Rei fighting Kankuro and though they acknowledged that Rei could fight, but they were also sure that they could beat Rei with just one massive jutsu. They had expected Rei to escape with speed, but the Adamantine Chains came out of the syllabus. And even more so when Rei seemed to know about Danzo. How did he know? He couldn't die here or else a massive traitor would be on the loose in Konoha.

"You sure they will think it is me killing you and not suspect anyone else after all I used Adamantine Chains, and not some jutsu that has my mark on it." Rei spoke gleefully and this suddenly made the man do a double take. He hadn't expected that at all. Normally an investigation would be done if they were killed, and he was sure that his death would slowly point in the direction of Rei, but he had forgotten that Rei used Adamantine Chains. How would the Root even say that it was done by Rei?

In fact, they would probably go look for another enemy or pin the blame on the sand shinobi or the sound ones. And even if Lord Danzo sent other men after him, it wouldn't be out of suspicion of his betrayal but rather to capture him again, and the cycle would repeat again.

"Konoha this? Traitor that? Your Lord really has poisoned you to the extreme..." Cough.. Cough.. Rei turned his head and saw the other alive man suddenly waking up and coughing up blood. The man was still on the tree and the blood flow hadn't stopped.

"Oh! Sorry there.. Forgot about you.." Rei said and the man watched in horror as an extra set of chains appeared and proceeded to pierce through the brain of the man. The leader couldn't help but gulp seeing the other man die.

"So, where were we? Oh yes.. Your cute leader Danzo.. This tumor of a man has been allowed to live in Konoha for far longer than he deserves. He deals with Orochimaru, the same man who just invaded us, and you think I am the traitor?" Rei asked. This made the man twitch. He was dumbfounded. What was he talking about? What deals with Orochimaru?

"What the hell are you talking about?" The man asked. This made Rei, in turn, get surprised. He thought all of Root knew that Danzo had deals with Orochimaru, but it didn't seem to be the case. It made sense though because Root was made on the basis of being the shadow of Konoha, and doing all the dark things possible and even trying to assassinate Hiruzen, all for the better of Konoha. But the invasion was different. It hurt the core of Konoha, so that kind of information was probably a top-tier secret.

"It seems your Danzo isn't so truthful after all. Well it doesn't matter. Game time is over." Rei said and took out his kunai to just end the man.

"Wait.. No.. Stop.. If what you say is true then we can help each other. I can report him to the higher-ups.." The man pleaded as he felt like if he died here it would be meaningless. He wanted to tug on the naivety of this genin here.

"Hahaha.." Rei stopped for a moment and then burst out laughing. This made the man feel blood rushing to his brain out of anger. He could only hope that the boy here didn't know how the world worked. This boy knew so much about Danzo and even though he had said that Orochimaru and Danzo had some deals, he refused to believe that. Rei being an Uzumaki descendant was huge information for Konoha, which Lord Danzo could use.

"Report to the higher-ups? Who? Homura and Koharu? The same guys who ordered Itachi to kill the Uchiha clan?.." Rei said and this made the man violently twitch. Genji, the name of the man under the mask, couldn't believe what he was hearing. He was one of the few who knew that it was on the orders of Danzo and the Konoha Council that Itachi carried out the massacre. This boy, who was a teammate of Sasuke, knew the truth about Itachi. This was bad. Really bad!

As he was thinking that, he didn't notice that Rei had appeared beside him using Shunshin and before he could even say another word, the kunai went straight through his head. For a few seconds the forest became completely silent. The only sound left was the rustling of leaves and the slow drip of blood falling onto the forest floor. Rei casually pulled the kunai back out and flicked the blood away before looking at the three corpses around him.

There was a reason why Rei didn't even bother to claim this man and sign the contract. After getting so much more powerful, Rei felt he could take it slow and choose his next people carefully. And besides, if he took the man under contract and allowed him to go back and act as a spy, this man would probably die because of the seal he had on his tongue and also the contract.

The words would come out as lies and who knows what kind of seals Danzo used, he might come to know that this man was lying, so it was better not to take chances and let Danzo go all guns blazing against him. He didn't want to leave Konoha, it was his home. So he needed to be careful with his steps. Thus, killing all of them was the best option he had.

"Well... that could have gone better for you." The Root operatives obviously disagreed, though none of them were in any condition to voice that opinion anymore. Rei jumped back onto the branch and called upon the power of his contract. Poof. Two figures appeared beside him. The Demon Brothers.

"Hey.. I was playing Mario. Now Meizu would say that he would have won."

"What the hell are you talking about? I am here too."

"Oh! Brother, you are here too.. hahaha.." The twin brothers seemed to be having quite the life out there. Actually, the moment the brothers appeared they already knew that they were back in their origin world, and them coming back here felt both nostalgic and sad. Nostalgic because it was their first return after being taken away. Sad because they didn't want to be back, and wanted to be at their home, on their beds, playing Mario and once in a while going out and dancing with these mortals.
