Fury was confused now. Born with special abilities? Where? What is the process? Can I sign my future child up too? He looked skeptical, but he couldn't just let go of the line that would unravel the mysteries behind that ice guy and this guy, who for some reason seemed more powerful and dangerous to him.

"So where exactly are you from? Because I've had people dig through records all over the world, and your birth certificate doesn't exist in any of them. Not even in foreign countries." Fury asked.

"Oh! You went quite deep. Since you have done so much work, I guess I can tell you this. In simple terms, we are aliens. But of course, I am as human as you are. Think of us as humans who arrived from a parallel world." Rei replied. This threw Fury totally off as he wasn't expecting such a revelation. He was expecting some secret sect or cult that did experiments, or something of that sort.

He had always known that Haku was human and, by extension, this person was too, but never in his wildest dreams did he expect the theory of a parallel Earth. It was one of those theories he had read once and thrown into the trashcan. This was beyond his calculations. Fury was looking for lies in the eyes of the boy, but there were none. This problem reminded him of the help that he was extending to the Kree in their war and how many of them were here as refugees. But were they being hunted?

It didn't look like that as Rei and even Haku didn't seem to suffer or show any signs of persecution delusion. In fact, both of them carried themselves with confidence, and this boy looked even more confident than Haku. So if they were aliens, then why was he here?

"How'd you get here? Because as far as S. H. I. E. L. D. knows, nothing entered Earth's atmosphere. No spaceships. No signals. Nothing." Fury asked. This made Laura, sitting on the side, suddenly jerk after hearing the word spaceship. Spaceship? What? Where? Their universe? The universe has spaceships? Would someone tell me what is going on?

"Who said one needed spaceships to arrive here, and that too from a parallel Earth? There are so many ways. But let's leave that point at the door. Since you are here and quite daring to even show your face alone, I might add, what are you here for? To add me to your pretty little project?" Rei asked. This made Fury look deeply into Rei. This meant that Haku and Rei were quite well connected to even know what had happened before and what role he had asked Haku for. These kids were not playing by any means.

But were they kids? The hair sample they received from Haku suggested that he wasn't some kind of old guy and the age he showed in public records was his real age. Then how come both of these guys felt like adults when confronted?

"We're here to determine whether you're a threat to this planet." Fury replied.

"Oh! Then I didn't see your subordinate ask the same question to Thor when they met." Rei countered.

"Would've asked him, but he wasn't around." Fury replied. Rei nodded with a sardonic look.

"Don't worry Fury, I ain't here to start some war against the planet. I love it here, why do you think I accumulated wealth? The place I come from doesn't have cars or proper communication channels. We still rely on birds for sending letters, so you don't need to think too much about us being a threat to this planet. And about your little pet project, I will not join any such names or titles, and I would ask you not to add my name to those kinds of things in your official records.

"You lost the right to be 'just a normal guy' when golden chains started coming out of your body and taking down giant robots." Fury replied.

"Golden? It has a name. Adamantine Chains." Rei said. Fury made a mental note of the name. He didn't know how he would evaluate this homegrown kid who didn't have much of a digital footprint. All they had were some CCTV footages of him around the place in grocery marts and once in a while walking around. That was almost nothing. The first genuine full-blown incident was in New Mexico and that was the only incident.

They had interviewed Jane and Erik, and from there came to know about Loki and Thor more deeply, while when asked about Rei, they just said he was their patron and visited them for vacations. They couldn't ask for more from them about Rei as his shadow clone still existed and talked just like a normal guy. It was really a shot in the dark that Rei was the man in the suit after knowing that Rei came from Allied, the same company that got involved in Tony's problem.

In plain terms, Fury wanted SHIELD to be the shield, but here Allied came in twice to play the good guys. So he didn't know if he should be grateful or launch an investigation into Allied for interfering in government affairs. But one thing he could see beyond the confident smirk of Rei. He wasn't some invader and genuinely liked the luxury here. He had been noticing the behavior of Laura as that was also a good indicator of the words of Rei.

The only visible shock was on her face when the word spaceship was mentioned, which meant that before now she didn't even know spaceships existed. Which meant Rei and his friend didn't really arrive here by a spaceship and probably by some sort of ability. From the looks of it, Haku's ability might be based on the water element, but Rei's must be based on space-time, since in the video he could just teleport, which could tie into the part that he could probably do so across planets too.

He was sure that no Bifrost opened after Thor left, but Rei was here, not as some water clone, but a genuine guy. That meant that Rei's words were true when he said they were travelers from a parallel Earth, or something along those lines. That was fine though as long as he could use the boy and bolster his cards for the Avengers Initiative. He wasn't going to let go of the golden goose who could teleport and shoot golden chains, sorry, adamantine chains from his body.

"What more can you do besides teleportation and that ability?" Fury had to ask.

"Nothing more." Rei refused to answer. If he spoke of all the things he could do, especially the Sharingan, it would be a disaster as he was sure that Fury would enslave him here and ask for his help in spying and manipulation. And that would just be the start. Of course that wouldn't mean Fury could actually force him to do something. But having a bug buzz around his ears wasn't exactly likable either. Fury too didn't believe his words but he wouldn't push it.

For now, Rei and his family could only be under long-distance surveillance while also being in contact. He wasn't a threat as of yet, just like Bruce Banner, but they would still be kept at arm's length always. Ready to intervene when required. And also he needed to know more about their home planet and if he could ever reach their planet he was sure that he would get some guys there to dance to his tunes. But that was a very long-term plan which couldn't be spoken about now.

Fury didn't speak another word and just forwarded the file of the Avengers Initiative. Rei didn't even bother opening it immediately. He looked at the folder for a few seconds before placing it on the table.

"I already gave you my answer."

"You gave me your answer before I handed you the file."

"Same answer." Fury sighed.

"You know, most people would at least read it first."

"Most people don't have you showing up at their front door after digging through half their life." That earned a small smirk from Fury.

"Fair enough." For a few moments neither spoke. Laura was still sitting beside Rei while keeping a close eye on the director. She had questions and those could wait.

"No wonder Stark accepted your help." Fury said, which earned a shrug from Rei.

"Stark took a fancy to Haku when we helped him and asked about the situation, and then decided to keep him as his bodyguard." Rei made his stance clear with Tony, so that there wouldn't be some miscommunication. This earned another eyebrow raise from Fury as he expected Haku and Rei to be quite close, but it seemed there was some kind of story between them. Was Haku a fugitive running away from his place and Rei was giving him shelter here? But why would a young boy be a runaway from his place?
