Odin was speechless for a moment as he didn't know how to reply to that.
"I hope the kid doesn't get influenced by the malice that is inside him." Odin could only conjure that at the end as he felt a bit sad that a young child was given such a responsibility of bearing such a burden while also making sure for not getting influenced by that entity inside. Kakashi and Odin both observed a minute of silence thinking totally of opposite things. But Odin was also not someone he would be much bothered by things around.
He had seen too many things in his life, including the infinity stones, so a powerful thing hardly mattered to him. Besides he wasn't actually here to question too much about the kid, but rather the multiversal travel. The kid was just a passing concern. If he could help he would, otherwise he wouldn't care.
"The multiverse travel that your student does, is it dangerous?" Odin asked finally, cutting the silence. Kakashi wasn't surprised that the old man knew about this as Rei had already informed of what he had said.
"Dangerous? No. I sometimes don't even feel it, though my students will say otherwise." Kakashi joked, but his words were filled with sincerity and to this Odin nodded. He knew that Thor would ask Rei to take him away and thus he needed to know first hand if it was okay for his son to trust Rei. There was a chance that he would lie, of course, but one could roughly figure out if a person was lying or saying the truth by seeing them into their eyes mostly, and this was Odin were talking about.
He would know if something was fishy. Though Odin felt that the kid Rei might have been hiding something, but he for sure knew that Rei didn't have any malice towards them. Normally a clever person like Rei would have greed once they came to Asgard and even for the books which Frigga had shown them, but there was none. In fact, he felt the kid named Sasuke was a bit problematic than Rei, not because he fought Thor, but because Odin saw himself a bit in Sasuke and not the part that he liked.
"My son might end up travelling. I hope you can take care of him as he does so." Odin said.
"Konoha will be happy to accept a Prince of such an exalted land as their guest." Kakashi assured.
"But I will have to give you a warning in advance. Naruto will probably drag him into trouble within the first hour." That earned a genuine laugh from Odin.
"Then my son will fit in quite well." The conversation naturally died after that. Neither man was particularly fond of meaningless words. They simply stood there for a few moments longer, watching the moonlit city before Odin finally turned away.
"Enjoy the remainder of the banquet, Kakashi Hatake."
"You too, Your Majesty." And with that, the old king departed, leaving Kakashi alone with the night sky and the realization that he had just spent half an hour casually discussing life with a god. Or at least that was what Rei had told him. And from the looks of it, he might not be wrong.
The banquet continued well into the night. Music echoed through the halls while warriors exchanged stories and mugs of ale. Naruto was currently trying to convince Volstagg that he could defeat him in an eating contest while Sakura looked mortified by the amount of food both of them had already consumed. Sasuke had finally escaped Thor's interrogation about Chidori by hiding behind Lady Sif and pretending not to hear the prince anymore. "Small warrior." Rei immediately knew trouble was coming.
"I don't know anything about chidori." Rei declared.
"No.. That's not my concern now. You come with me.." Thor said. The way he said it made Rei pause. He had a vague guess of what was coming and internally he was getting excited. Rei followed him, and the two eventually arrived at a quieter section of the palace where nobody was around. The distant sounds of the banquet could still be heard but they were muted now. Thor finally stopped.
"I wish to ask you something." Rei looked at him for several seconds.
"You know, if someone saw the way you dragged me away into a secluded location, they might get the wrong idea."
"What idea?" Thor was confused and Rei just looked at him as if he was talking to an idiot. Well, he was an idiot by sort, until fighting came along the way. He and Naruto really shared few brain cells for sure.
"... Never mind."
"What does that mean?"
"It means you are hopeless."
"I don't understand."
"Exactly." Eventually Thor crossed his arms.
"You promised that one day you would explain how you travel between worlds."
"Ah. That." Rei replied but if someone would hear his heart beat, one would register that it had started beating much faster.
"Yes. That." Rei looked around once before pulling out a sheet of paper from a storage seal. Thor raised an eyebrow as Rei gave him to read. Thor read the whole thing for a minute before saying.
"A contract?"
"More or less."
"You copy half of my abilities?"
"Half."
"My physique too?"
"Yes."
"And in exchange I can travel to your world?"
"Yes." Thor looked up.
"That's all?"
"That's all." Thor was genuinely baffled as he was expecting some kind of payment, gold or maybe a part of their kingdom in the 9 realms or something of that sort, but this wasn't what he expected. Instead it was a magical contract. He had seen some magical contracts before and though this was quite an unique magical contract, but there were no harsh bindings at all. Just allow someone gain his powers, and that too only half.
"You are willing to give me access to another universe and all I must do is let you copy half of what I have?"
"Pretty much." Thor immediately laughed. Quite loudly, I might add.
"Small warrior, this is the easiest agreement I have ever seen."
"That's it?"
"Why would I object?" Thor asked.
"If my strength can help a friend then I see no issue. Besides Asagrd owes you for what you did and saved the 9 realms by stopping my brother. This is the least I can do. Besides I am pleased."
"... Pleased?"
"Of course." Thor placed a hand on Rei's shoulder.
"You possess the heart of a warrior. If someone with my strength stands beside me then I would consider it an honor." Rei suddenly felt as if he had overestimated how complicated this conversation would be.
"Most people would at least think about it first."
"I am thinking about it."
"You decided in ten seconds."
"Exactly." Thor didn't waste another moment and went on to sign the paper after Rei provided him a pen to do so. Thor couldn't ask his parents for this as it was no required and he genuinely trusted Rei. The moment the signature was completed, the contract glowed faintly before dissolving into particles of light. Thor looked around for a moment expecting some grand magical spectacle only to find absolutely nothing happening around them.
"That's it?" Thor asked. Rei however wasn't paying attention to him anymore. Because something had happened. The change wasn't explosive at all. There were no beams of light descending from the heavens nor any thunder, which Thor was looking forward since he was the God of Thunder. No magical circles either as Rei himself was expecting since it was based on magic. Instead it felt as if every single cell in his body had suddenly awakened and remembered what it was supposed to be.
A warmth spread throughout his entire body and Rei instinctively grabbed the nearby railing. His heartbeat accelerated. Then slowed. Strength flooded his body in waves. His muscles became denser. His bones felt heavier and sturdier. His shoulders broadened slightly while his frame became larger. It wasn't an exaggerated transformation but it was enough that Rei immediately noticed it. His breath felt deeper, ever movement felt lighter. The amount of raw physical power running through his body was absurd.
He could now tell that if he wanted he could beat down any shinobi with his raw strength alone if there was no chakra involved in between. Okay maybe some people would survive like Orochimaru, that guy was a cockroach. But you catch the drift. He could also feel that his association with lightning nature had just jumped. He was a bit confused about that part as magic and chakra were two different nature so how could one add fuel to the other.
Was it because Thor's body itself contained the magic related to lightning and thus when the physique was added with the chakra that was preloaded, it gave better control over the element? It seemed he would have to research on this later.
