Mordak stood by the teleport anxiously awaiting Charlie and Regina's return with the two fairy scum. He could not wait to see these creatures, let alone proceed with their execution. He just needed to figure out how he was going to do it. Firing squad? Beheading perhaps? Hanging was always quite the spectacle. Maybe go back to the good ol' days and have them drawn and quartered. A slow smile began to form on his lips. He liked that, drawn and quartered, that would be quite the showstopper.
"Sir?" Elios asked, pulling Mordak out from his diabolical planning.
"What is it, Elios?" he huffed, annoyed by the derailment of his chain of thought.
"I can let you know when they arrive. That is if, you would like to return to your office. I'm sure you have better things to do than stand here waiting," Elios said, trying to be helpful.
"Elios, if I wanted to sit in my office, I would. I am here, because I want to be. I don't want to miss a moment of the reaction to the two fairies' defeat," he snapped.
"I'm not an idiot you know. Quite frankly, everyone says I am brilliant."
"I know that, sir. I wasn't questioning your intellect. I just thought…" Elios began.
"There you go again Elios…" Mordak interrupted, "thinking. I told you before, when I want your ideas, I will tell you what they are," he said, almost growling at the man.
"Sorry, sir. You're right," Elios said, immediately casting his gaze to the floor.
"Is our baby ready to go?" Mordak asked, "and did they examine that thing Chuck brought in, the supposed real," he paused making air quotes, "baby?"
"Yes, sir on both counts," Elios replied.
"I made modifications on our baby to reflect the physiological differences on the actual baby." Mordak looked at him confused. Elios, recognizing that blank look and added, "The physical differences between the two. The remains Charlie brought us show that either the child was of unknown origin or suffered from some catastrophic birth defects. Those defects may have contributed to its demise." Recognizing the confusion on Mordak's face, he added.
"The birth defects may be why it died."
"How was it different?" Mordak asked.
"Was it grossly disfigured or something, like it had an arm growing out of its head? Four eyes and twenty toes?"
"No, sir, nothing that extreme, it possessed traits similar to our own, pointed ears, no missing pieces or extra pieces. It was when they did the autopsy, they found that the organs were not formed properly or in the right places." He paused.
"For example, its heart, or at least what we think was the heart, had six chambers instead of the standard four. It also appeared to have some form of lesions on its brain." If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. Mordak and Elios suddenly turned as the teleport activated. Mordak rushed to the opening, eager to see his new targets. He watched carefully as the door whooshed open. A male fairy practically fell out the door. Mordak jumped back, surprised.
This was not what he anticipated.
"Hit it!" Mordak yelled, rushing behind Elios.
"Stop!" the fairy shouted, raising his arms to protect his head, as Elios rushed forward with a metal pipe in his hand.
"It's me, Charlie.
"I didn't have time to change back, "he said, suddenly changing to his natural state.
"See, it's me." Mordak rushed to the door of the teleport and stuck his head inside looking for his prize.
"Where are they?" he asked, turning to Charlie.
"Boss, they were on to us, I couldn't even get in the building. I had to leave Regina behind," he said, trying to catch his breath.
"I don't give a rat's ass about this Regina person, I just want my fairies!" Mordak screamed.
"I'm sorry sir, but I was unable to acquire the targets," he said, shrugging his shoulders.
"I tried… but… they came after me. Damn near chased me a quarter of a mile before I was able to hit the button." Mordak came up very close to Charlie and examined him.
"Well, you're not dead. You don't seem to be bleeding. Your arms and legs are in the right places… but yet you are here, without... my… Fairies," he said, pausing between each word his volume increasing with each syllable.
"Sir, if I had stayed, I would have been captured," Charlie tried to explain.
"That sounds like a you problem. Not a me problem," Mordak said, turning to Elios.
"Elios, my boy, it seems we have a communication problem with the lad. He doesn't seem to understand. First of all, I don't care. Second, I still don't care… and third, and probably the most important of them all… returning with the mission being incomplete, makes me care even less."
"I understand, sir," Elios said, nodding his head and looking sympathetically at Charlie.
"Elios, are we sure that it is a he… and maybe not a she in disguise. It sure thinks like a she. It's incompetent like a she. It is incapable of getting the job done like a she. So it must be a she," Mordak said, completely ignoring Charlie's presence.
"I'm a man through and through, sir," Charlie argued.
"Did you hear something, Elios?" Mordak asked, looking around the room.
"I could have sworn I just heard the high-pitched rantings of a female… but I don't see anyone here but the two of us." Elios looked at Charlie, eyeing him to just keep his mouth closed. Charlie didn't realize he was only making things worse. Not only for himself, but potentially him as well. Charlie, however, either chose to ignore the warnings or was simply oblivious to it. Charlie made his way beside Mordak and began waving in his face.
"I'm right here!" he shouted. Elios cringed and backed up. This was not going to end well, and he didn't want to get any on himself when the shit hit the fan. Mordak suddenly reached out and grabbed Charlie's arm with such strength and precision that Elios would have been in awe if it wasn't for the gruesomeness of the scene. Charlie's arm snapped, the bone in his forearm protruding through the flesh. Mordak continued to bend and rip until the arm separated from his body.
Elios watched in horror as Mordak then proceeded to beat the man with his missing appendage. As the blood drained from Charlie's body, it seemed to fuel Mordak's frenzy. He began to work up a sweat as he continued to beat the lifeless form. Stopping only when he became drained from the exertion. He stood up casually and handed the appendage to Elios.
"Here, I thought you could use an extra hand." Mordak snickered.
"Get someone down here to take out the garbage, I need to go clean up," he said, gleefully strolling away. Elios stood dumbfounded staring at the arm. As the realization of what just happened hit him, he threw the arm on what was left of Charlie and began to vomit.
