June was freaking out. His eyes let him see people and the world in a new light. Before, people just kind of looked like blobs to him; he didn't see many differences in physical appearances, things like skin tone, gender, medical conditions, eye color—pretty much anything about the human form that was unique was inconsequential to June; everyone to him was just a blob. Maybe it was a defect in the brain, but June caught a glimpse of the person beside him.
And he started praying to the same god he thought abandoned him. It was a girl. June had no problems talking to women; he had plenty of friends who were women and plenty of friends who identified differently, but not once did he look at someone and think'HOLY SHIT' The idea of him breaking out of his asexual arc excited him; he felt that maybe he wasn't a broken person after all.
He only looked at her for a second, and he could have sworn he saw gentle snowflakes in her eyes and felt the gentle breeze that he knew and loved in the Canadian climate. He probably imagined it, but nonetheless he kept praying. On the outside he looked completely nonchalant; his face didn't change. If she were able to see Will, she would have seen his face glowing gold. He was taking supernatural means to not show his internal thinking.
Even still going through it, he swiped on his phone, scrolling through the novel he downloaded on his phone so he could read outside without internet. He made a mental note of the correct page, of course, before mindlessly scrolling to keep the image of nonchalance.
'Should I talk to her?'
"Are you a Dreamer?" A cold, light voice landed on his ears like a snowflake.

'Shit, shit. Oh my God, I'm fumbling!' His voice didn't seem to carry the harrowing holiness of death that entranced people. Instead, his voice cracked. It was his first time feeling this kind of emotion, and his voice cracked.
"I'm 20. Why? Why? Why? My voice shouldn't be cracking anymore!!' It took him a moment to realize that he also didn't say anything of substance. Weren't those words?
'Oh my god, holy shit, why?
'Ancestors, why!?'
'Ok, I need to say something of substance.'
"My name's January. I was born in June."
'Oh my god' The girl let out a laugh that sounded like resonant tones that wind chimes made; they were almost hypnotizing to hear. June took a breath and then said it again.
"My name is June; yes, I am a Dreamer."
'Did that sound normal? Oh my God, I must sound like a freak.
'Why don't I carry a tanto around? I shamed my ancestors''Wait, no no, wrong ancestors.'
'Oh my god' June was freaking out plenty; his face, on the other hand, looked stone cold, but it was still beet red. That was the first time he ever blushed; he forgot that it was a thing that could happen.
"You're blushing!?" The girl said amused, June for the first time wanted to fall over just from the sounds of someone's voice. He damned society for not allowing him to make his body into a giant ear, just to hear her voice.
'No, No wait she might be a Dreamer too, maybe this is just the influence of her voice' June finally built up enough courage and looked at the girl properly. Her hair was long, tied into a ponytail, a raspberry blue color fading into a white tip; her eyes were like pools of ice that were unblemished by selfish ice skaters; her skin was as pale as snow; her features were refined. It felt like she was a hallucination; it felt like a sin to behold this much beauty.
Hell itself would freeze over just from knowing of her existence. He stopped fawning and turned the camera app on his phone on to check if he looked decent.
'These are my nicer clothes.'
'Shit, shit, why couldn't I have gotten better clothes?'
'I need a job now, immediately, pronto.' He looked at himself with the camera app. His eyes regained the shimmer they lost during his trek; in fact, they were glowing brighter. Gold wisps of will were appearing on the phone, which meant others would also be able to see it. Most Dreamers couldn't even manifest that much will so that Mundane could see it; why did he have to accomplish the impossible in the worst possible circumstances?
'Fighting that damned imp would have been more favorable to this shit.' June stood up and sat on the floor, hiding behind the seats of the next row.
"I promise I'm not a weirdo; my eyes are just doing something funny right now."
'Oh my god, she's going to think I'm a freak.' June had never really cared for others' opinions; he lived through his own validation. He didn't care for his or others' appearances since he judged people based on their actions while he knew them. He built his ideas of people with who they are, not were. But most of this was thrown out the window when June saw her; he felt like he skipped the personality evaluation and went straight to thinking she was some sort of snow angel.
His world had shattered, and now he has been sitting in the fetal position, on the floor, in the corner of a dark theater, trying to hide from other people while the first person he ever felt some sort of attraction to watches this odd, weird behavior. He would roll over and die, but he would heal automatically if he tried. He was like a roach as much as he hated them. He just kept on praying.
