Aidan The moment I step into the corridor, the void golems all turn their focus towards us. But before they can so much as start moving, I quickly use two void tears on the legs of the two ancient void golems. Tearing large gashes into their legs without managing to cut them off. Because one benefit of Void Tear that I found on the last floor is that it also hurts the void golems. Since it seems to detach the void mana making up their bodies from them. Almost like cutting off a monster's limb.
Then again, it's not almost like that. It's exactly that. Thanks to my void tears, which I put in more mana than normal to use, the ancient void golems tremble as they try to move. And while they're still able to walk, they aren't exactly stable when they do so. I let out a breath I didn't even realize I was holding in relief at the sight of the crippled ancient void golems. Then I focus on the four greater void golems that are currently marching towards me and my voidlings.
So I order my voidlings to begin their march as well. Creating a flood of sleek black massive insects rushing straight at the approaching greater void golems. With me moving in the middle of them, ready to use Void Pit when I get close enough. Right as my confidence begins to rise, the ancient void golems suddenly manifest large spears. Two in each hand. Then they both launch one spear each directly at me.
With one of the spears piercing straight through my left shoulder as I barely manage to move enough to not let my chest get pierced. Meanwhile the other spear goes straight through three voidling soldiers, tearing right through them without even slowing down until it slams into the wall of the tower. Holy shit. That fucking hurts. I quickly jump into a roll, just barely dodging two more spears that fly straight at me.
Then I turn my attention to the greater void golems as the two ancient void golems start to reform their spears. And when the greater void golems get close enough, I begin using Void Pit to create several orbs of void mana right in their paths. All while my voidlings shove them into the orbs. Thanks to that, the greater void golems become crippled one after another while refilling my mana. But the ancient void golems don't just sit around doing nothing as they begin throwing more spears at me.
I jump out of the way before taking off into a run towards the greater void golems now that they're on the ground. And before they can do anything else, I begin slashing directly at their cores with my claws. Since I learned at some point that, while my claws don't heal me from attacking the void golem's bodies, they do heal me from slashing their cores directly. The only downside is that it decreases the amount of source mana I can drain from their cores.
But that's fine since it's the only way I can heal myself in this tower beyond natural regeneration. Of course, thanks to my immense blood generation, all of the wounds covering me pretty much just result in fountains of pitch black blood shooting out of my body. With the blood not soaking into my gear or pooling up since it's just dissipating into black mist. I still need to deal with the injuries to make sure I don't end up bleeding out in the future after getting too many injuries.
And I think I've had at least one organ punctured, since I feel weaker. That's not even mentioning my arm that got pierced by the spear. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. So I heal some of my wounds through the mana cores while turning the greater void golems into shields to block the ancient void golems' sight of me.
Only to peek my head out from behind the greater void golems from time to time to tear away at the ancient void golems bit by bit with Void Tear. Eventually I finish off the greater void golems after keeping them stuck in place with my voidlings, then I turn my focus back to the ancient void golems while finally finishing off their legs with one last void tear. Making them fall down to faceplant into the ground.
I let out a sigh of relief before moving over towards them with my voidlings and using several Void Pits to kill them. Having already healed most of my wounds by now through those greater void golems. And now that the enemies are dealt with, I turn my attention back to my voidlings. Who I find have lost only about a fourth of their numbers. Which isn't as bad as I expected. I guess that's because there were so few void golems in this battle.
And there weren't any flying ones, nor ranged ones other than the ancient void golems' spears. So over half of the voidlings that died were to the ancient void golems' spears. I take a moment to look over them all before shaking my head and going around to absorb the source mana of all four greater void golems. Since I can't make voidlings out of them when their mana cores are damaged. Then I move over to the ancient void golems and, after pausing for a moment, drain the source mana from one of them.
The reason being that I want to level up as much as I can before the boss, who is most likely on the next floor. Unless they're on the top of the tower. On the roof. And my hope does come true. After leveling up once from the battle itself, I level up a second time from the last mana core. I nod my head in satisfaction at the sight of the level-up messages I got from both absorbing the source mana in the cores and from killing the void golems in the first place.
The sight of the new skill at the end of the levels, though, makes me more satisfied than the levels themselves. [User's Class, Void Devourer, has reached level 34. User's stats have risen by the following amounts: +2 Physical, +2 Magical, +2 Mind, +2 Soul, +1 Free Point.] [User's Profession, Void Creator, has reached level 34. User's stats have risen by the following amounts: +1 Mind, +1 Soul, +1 Free Point.] [User's Class, Void Devourer, has reached level 35. User's stats have risen by the following amounts: +2 Physical, +2 Magical, +2 Mind, +2 Soul, +1 Free Point.] ◊*New Class Skill*◊ [Void Rend(Epic) – Allows the Void Devourer to launch claws of void mana in the path of their own claw swipes. These mana claws will tear into whatever is within a distance from the Void Devourer depending on the Void Devourer's Magic stat. Furthermore, those struck by the claws will take damage periodically over the course of ten minutes.] ◊*New Class Skill*◊ Another ranged skill.
And this one repeatedly damages the target over time instead of just hurting them once. After allocating my free points, I try the skill once by swiping my claws, making five arcs of void mana fly through the air for several meters. Not bad. I still need to see how much damage it does, but at least it has plenty of distance. Now then. I turn my focus onto the last mana core. The mana core of the second ancient void golem. What should I do with this thing…
I want to make a new voidling, but I don't know how to make any voidlings other than drones and soldiers. And even the soldiers I only learned to make from watching Seraphyne… Hmm… Then again, it's probably a bad idea to try to create a new voidling with an important mana core. Since I usually fail several times before finally succeeding at making new voidlings. Maybe I should try to find if there's any better way to create voidling soldiers? To make a stronger one with this mana core.
Now's as good a time as any to try out the Mentor Menu. So I go ahead and open the menu again. ◊◊◊◊◊ Mentor Menu Mentor Name: Seraphyne Voidstar – the Supreme Empress of the Void Throne Contact Mentor ◊◊◊◊◊ Then I select the Contact Mentor button and send a brief message about wanting to make a new type of voidling besides just drones or soldiers. Specifically in preparation for the boss of the Tutorial. After sending the message, I go ahead and sit down to restore the killed voidlings on this floor.
Bringing their number back up to over fifty again. And, not long after I finish restoring the last voidling, I get a response from Seraphyne. One that I find to be rather surprising, to say the least.
