Aidan I wait for a moment before approaching, simply to test the eye birds. But the eye birds themselves don't do anything and act like I don't exist. Meanwhile all of the void golems – each of which is an elite void golem without any regular ones this time – begin pulling out bows and arrows. Quickly making me take back my appreciation for their status as mana batteries. The sight of the arrows immediately makes me order for the voidlings to march forwards, and to spread out as they're doing that.
Simply to make it harder to target them. Leaving us all charging straight through the corridor of the tower floor towards the elite void golems. Unlike the previous floor, I manage to dodge the arrows without much difficulty. And even the ones I don't dodge, the voidling soldiers block them for me. With some taking the arrows straight on and others parrying them with their scythes or mandibles. By the time we reach the elite void golems, not a single one of their arrows hits me.
And none of their arrows manage to kill my voidlings either, even if some of them are wounded by the arrows. The problem arrives when we reach the edge of the corridor at the large balcony. Because the eye birds start making their moves, turning their gazes onto us and firing off beams of void energy from their eyes. The only bright side is that these eye birds aren't very high level. So their attacks aren't incredibly strong. They're just very annoying.
After refilling some of my mana through a few elite void golems, I proceed to use my new skill to tear open rifts right where some of the eye birds are. Ripping multiple birds to shreds with each use of the skill. Then, while the voidlings and elite void golems are clashing around me, I focus on killing elite void golems with Void Pit before tearing apart the eye birds with Void Tear using the mana given to me by the void golems. One by one, I kill off the monsters.
But before I finish killing them all, I get a message from the System that completely blocks my vision for a moment. Only for it to minimize to a corner of my vision as if sensing that I'm in combat. I frown before refocusing on the battle. Just finishing off the rest of the elite void golems and the eye birds. Once again refilling my mana by saving the elite void golems for the end of the battle. Finishing off the eye birds first.
After finishing off the last of the monsters, I look at my leveling System Messages to find that I gained a single level from the battle. [User's Class, Void Devourer, has reached level 32. User's stats have risen by the following amounts: +2 Physical, +2 Magical, +2 Mind, +2 Soul, +1 Free Point.] I go ahead and allocate the Free Point the level gave me before turning my attention to the System Message that interrupted me during the battle. Only to find a leaderboards update waiting for me. Ah, nice.

The solo users generally moved up in rank while the ones fighting in groups and making factions moved down a little. Based on the intel I heard from the Fifth Ranked, that is. Since he told me the names of the people who were solo and who were making factions. Speaking of the Fifth Ranked, he's still Fifth Ranked. Which means he's left the fourth floor by now. Looks like that Orc King probably dropped in rank because he was too focused setting up his faction.
And that assassin lady who tried killing me on the second floor moved up a bit on the rankings. Just like the drake guy who shot up straight to second. Anyway, I return my attention to the mana cores and the eye bird corpses. Making sure to order some of my voidling soldiers, of whom only lost about a third of their number this time, to go down to the ground beneath the tower and gather the eye bird corpses that fell there while I deal with the mana cores and eye bird corpses up on this floor.
Which is rather convenient for me, since I don't have to go down to grab them myself. I once again use about half of the elite void golems and eye bats as leveling fodder and the other half for voidling soldier creation. Allowing me to level up a few times in the process. With the voidlings who went to the ground returning with the remaining eye birds by the time I finish with the ones up on this floor. It's too bad the eye birds don't give as much source mana as the elite void golems though.
But considering that they're lower level, that makes sense. I go ahead and continue making voidlings and absorbing source mana from the remaining eye birds before looking at my System Messages from it all once I finish. [User's Profession, Void Creator, has reached level 32. User's stats have risen by the following amounts: +1 Mind, +1 Soul, +1 Free Point.] [User's Profession, Void Creator, has reached level 33. User's stats have risen by the following amounts: +1 Mind, +1 Soul, +1 Free Point.] [User's Class, Void Devourer, has reached level 33. User's stats have risen by the following amounts: +2 Physical, +2 Magical, +2 Mind, +2 Soul, +1 Free Point.] And that's two more levels each for my Profession and one for my Class from all of those monsters. After finishing with leveling and refilling my voidling numbers, I turn my attention to the little parkour setup on the outside of the tower. I've already dealt with the eye birds, so there won't be any problem with climbing myself.
What I'm more worried about are my voidlings. I glance at the voidlings before pursing my lips and ordering one of the voidlings to climb the wall of the tower. And the voidling does it with ease. Huh. Guess it won't be a problem after all. Well, that's nice. I begin jumping from one platform to another while my little army of over fifty voidling soldiers and one voidling drone – all of the drones except for my general have died by now – follow me up by climbing on the wall of the tower.
All the way until we arrive at a balcony for the fourth floor. With a staircase at the end of the corridor the balcony opens into. There are also more monsters in the corridor. But these monsters are different from the ones I've seen so far. These seem to be more quality over quantity, with just two massive void golems and four smaller but still significantly larger void golems than the ones on the previous floors. I identify them all before gritting my teeth.
[Level 34 Greater Void Golem] [Level 34 Greater Void Golem] [Level 34 Greater Void Golem] [Level 34 Greater Void Golem] [Level 38 Ancient Void Golem] [Level 38 Ancient Void Golem] Yeah, this might be a bit harder. Quite a bit harder, at that. But, at least they have a lot fewer numbers this time around. Since it would be a lot more difficult if there were dozens of elite void golems around these. I also don't see any bows and arrows, so there's that.
My main issue is going to be whether my Void Pit skill works on these things just like it works on the smaller void golems. Because it'll be a problem if it doesn't. I take a deep breath before stepping into the corridor.
