" Okay, we're off for now. We'll be back in a bit."" Alright." Sarah, Anna and I got up from the chairs we were sitting in. It's been a few hours since we arrived at the townhouse that the Fracks have been kind enough to let us lodge in after all of the fighting. After the Fracks kids finished all of the decisions they had to make for planning their father's funeral, the Count Families left for their own vacation homes here in Zana and we all decided to take a nap into the late afternoon.
It made sense to us, since everyone had only slept for around an hour or 2 before all hell broke loose. We woke up in the afternoon. With being able to rest finally, Sarah was able to pull out some of the food she had in her Mana Storage, once she did, Ellie and Wendy decided to make us all a late lunch. With some oversight from Anna, the food was finished and the Fracks kids joined us for lunch. Once we had eaten some food, I moved on to our next order of business.
I turned to Byron, who was sipping on some coffee after eating and asked him where Ms. Victoria and her daughter, Kim, lived." Are you sure you 3 can make it there all by yourselves?"" Well to be fair, Victor and Patrick said they'd head back to their house after we said we'd go to sleep, I'd imagine I'd hear them when we get close."" Really? Patrick and Victor were quite reserved while they were still alive?"" That's probably because they were Employees trying to make a living, right?"" Ah..."
Byron seemed to connect some dots in his head about a few things. He then took a glance at Ellie and Wendy who were discussing something about their cooking from earlier." Our Servants are quite different compared to the norm, Lord Byron. That may be due to the disposition of Our Husband, however. You shouldn't mind it as much as you are. I find that your Servants are more in line with those found in the Royal Castle.
Also, most of our Servants are from the Outer Villages, so they weren't trained in or near the Heart of the Country like most of your own Servants."" I- I see... Even still..."" There's no one right way to live as a Noble, Lord Byron, you should pick whatever feels best to you. It's your life and the legacy you wish to leave in the future that you have to think about now.
Your father's ways may not fit you, Our Husband's way, maybe even my Father's, King Warrick's way is also wrong for you, it's up to you to figure out what you wish to be." Sarah offered some advice to Byron who seemed to think that he was doing something wrong. Lady Cindy looked concerned as well. I thought I offer a bit of my own advice." Take this with a grain of salt, Byron. I'm not exactly crazy about being a Noble."" What!?" Lady Cindy appeared to be shocked at my words.
I also just realized that Princess Alice was also sat with us. But now that I see her reaction, she simply was nodding her head like it made sense to her. Now that I think about it, even though we tried to hide it somewhat, with her sharp hearing, it's not like we were ever able to really hide it from her. She also knows who I really am and how I grew up with no Kings or Nobles to worry about in my world... That and the fact that she's also seen how I treat Wendy and Ellie as well.
Maybe everything I've done since she came to Paradise was useless? Regardless, I need to continue my point. Lady Cindy and Byron are both looking at me for an explanation." Well, simply put, I wasn't born a Noble, nor did I really have any wish to become one. But I ended up one for a few different reasons that I'm sure you're both aware of.
I've tried to live up to the expectations of being a Noble as best as I can, but there's some parts of my feelings that leak out in certain ways, one of those is the way that I treat my Servants and how they treat me. What I'm trying to get at, is that like Sarah said, there's no one right way for being a Noble and that's one of the few ways I made my mansion feel like a home and not a house that I live in for propriety's sake.
You might think it's too lax for a Noble, but we have no real issue with the way things have been, right Sarah, Anna?" Reading on this site? This novel is published elsewhere. Support the author by seeking out the original. Both of my Wives nodded their heads to my question. I then looked at Ellie and Wendy and continued to speak." Also, you both saw how they reacted when we arrived here safe and sound, so I think it's safe to say that the Servants are happy with how they're treated.
As Sarah said, our Servants are from all around the Outer Villages that had decided to move to Paradise when they heard I'd be taking the role of Fief Lord for the town and the greater area, so they're all a bit less formal. Some are super formal, like Ellie's Mother, Janet. Though over time she's relaxed a bit. And Wendy and her people came over because of a whole other set of circumstances... I'm trailing off here...
The point I'm trying to make is that you need to find the right balance for you and your Servants, they're people with emotions too after all." Byron seemed to understand something from my words, but I feel like I just ended up trying to stealthily complain about becoming a Noble. Sarah and Anna are already familiar with most of my complaints about it, so they're just nodding their heads. Princess Alice seemed to take what I said at face value... I should be a bit more careful.
I'm treating her like a Friend already, but she is still a Foreign Princess... I mean, so is Charlotte, but she's also my Employee... My life is complicated..." I see... I'll try to think more on this in the future."" Okay. Speaking of which, once we're back, I'd like to have a conversation with you about a few things."" Oh? Is it about that cheesecake and ice cream we had?"" Huh? No... But we can also talk about Roseland Products and striking a deal on thePproducts as well.
I should also add that it's nothing bad or anything."" Yeah, that works fine for me."" Me too!" Lady Cindy really perked up as we talked about Roseland Products, she's a real big fan of all of the desserts that I've showed them during that test on the first day I was here and at the party last night. I was glad, since this just proved what everyone who's tried my desserts had predicted would happen. That being that Demons would end up loving the products.
It's not like I had no faith in dairy products, but I did think "what if the flavor is too rich for the people of Gaia?", I'm glad I was wrong." Okay, with that, we'll be leaving."" Alright, stay safe out there."" We should be fine; we have our Guards with us after all." With that, we left the house finally. Our 9 Guards were standing guard around the house. I don't know why? I doubt anything more would happen today. Regardless, Flare, Heather, Hana, Kia and Aia were the first ones to salute us.
Kia and Aia were twin Hunters from Nulrock. They were young, 19, like me. But they're great Hunters and good at everything associated with that, from camping or dressing game, you name it, they're better than me at it. How I came across them was simple, they had both been bitten by an A-Rank spider Monster called, Melting Widow. They were dying before I healed them in the hospital I found them in while visiting Nulrock on the way back from the Northern Border.
They arrived in the large crowd of around 3000 Demons when we first arrived in Paradise. They've been honing their Combat Skills since and were able to win that tournament before we left for Zana. The look of the twins was what would be expected, short hair and athletic builds befitting 2 people who've spent most of their time hunting. Their tan skin was striking, but not as much as the difference in their hair and eye colors, Kia had black hair and eyes while Aia had White hair and grey eyes.
They were quite striking when they were put together. Even more so with Kia's war axe and Aia's thorn whip coming along with them. Hana on the other hand, was a Village Chief's daughter, she had long light-blue hair and light-mint green eyes. She used razor sharp fans to attack her enemies. Unfortunately, that's all I know about them as I had to miss their tournaments since I was busy dealing with Charlotte and Ruby wanting to come with us." Salute!"
On the other hand, the slower members of the group where now standing up. Edmon was the first as he was the one who was most experienced with working with Sarah, Anna and me. He also called for a salute, but I don't know why? The 2nd in line was Rus, a shorter Demon who used a spear. I healed his ailing mother back in a no name village between the Northern Border and Nulrock, he was able to bring her along on the journey to Paradise and he worked his way into being a part of the City Guard.
From there, he, like everyone else, won the right to guard us from the tournament. He's quite serious and stoic, but his red skin, hair, eyes and 3 horns gave away how he acts during battle, He's almost like a pro wrestler or gladiator with the amount of crowd work he puts into it. Though I haven't seen him in a live fight, I'd doubt he'd be any less loud.
The next was Oscar, he was a loud person, but I found his style of fighting to be the opposite of Rus, he was a person who looked for devastating counters, which were easy to find with his 5 hands that each held an axe to cut down enemies with. His skin was black like oil, which contrasted with his brown hair and eyes. With everyone finally lined up, I just kept walking and gave out one command." Follow us." And off we went to Ms. Victoria's home.
I hope we don't scare her with all of these Demons and weapons showing up at her front door... I guess we'll know when we get there?
