" Count Sark, like I've said numerous times, you need to fix your speaking habits if you wish to better your impression to people."" Oh, come now, Gordon. It's a party! Besides, don't you feel all stuffy having to mind your Ps and Qs while drinking? I know you want to appear all Noble and everything, but the only Commoners here are the Servers and Guards. You can live a little now!"" Proper conduct is something you do to Honor Yourself and Your Ancestors. You'll be disgracing them and yourself by acting improper.
Count Sark, don't you think of your Forefathers at all before you act?"" No, I think only of My Wife and Children. My Parents were happy to hand the Countship over to me as soon as I was of age. I think it's because the mine is such a pain to manage."" Our Farming is just as backbreaking, it doesn't make it any less pertinent to show Proper Decorum, Count Sark."" Oh please, do you introduce yourself as a Count to every carrot you pick from the soil?
What decorum would possibly need you to act Noble in front of fruit and vegetables? That reminds me, Gordon. Thank you for the strawberries last spring by the way. My Daughters were quite ravenous for them. I was partial to the blackblood oranges. Very tasty. Don't know what you're doing, but keep it up!"" You... First you make a jape then thank me for giving you produce!? I'll give you acid kiwis next spring instead of the oranges!"" What! No! My kids start bouncing off the walls when they eat those!"
It seems the Counts are lost in their own world now. If I didn't know any better, I'd assume these guys were really good friends. But with all the politicking and business dealing that goes on, I know that the relationship between these 2 men is a bit more complicated than that. Regardless, it seems at least that they don't absolutely hate each other's presences like when I enter a room full of Demons that I haven't met before.
Like earlier today, or when Count Sark thought I was doing something wrong when I healed Max on the road. I looked at Sarah and Anna and they seemed to still be cooling off from Count Gorse's attitude towards me." Ah, so this is where you two were? Ah, and you're both arguing again? Isn't that a bad look in front of the Human?" A young-looking Demon stepped in between the 2 arguing Counts.
Dark-yellow skin with 5 black eyes with 2 long pointed ears that pointed out the side of his head and his long black hair that was braided at the back and hung down his back and both sides of his head.
"What an odd-looking Demon", was my first thought about him. What an interesting choice of fashion was the 2nd. While most of the men during this party were dressed like me, with a tux and a tie, this person dressed in a light-green suit." Little Ed! Why didn't you walk over earlier!? Good to see ya. How's the old man?" Count Sark seemed happy to meet the Demon that had interrupted him." Edward, your father, Lord Tye, moved Westward when he retired, right? How have you found the transition into the acting Lord?"
A conversation broke out in front of me. So, this is Lord Tye? From what I understand, a few months after we defeated the Hero, Edward Tye's father, the previous Count Tye, retired after 500 years as Lord of Trapda. Seems there's some kind of a relationship with the other 2 Counts?" My Father and Mother are well, they built a house on the beach front of Drownedtree. As for the transition, my Father left Trapda in quite good shape, so really, I'm just trying not to mess it up too much. So far, so good.
But, more importantly than that..." Count Tye looked at me and began to walk over to me. He then bowed to one knee and began to speak. This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source." Princess Sarah, it's a pleasure to meet you." Grip!
"!" Lord Tye reached for Sarah's hand, but I wasn't going to let that happen. First, I took my own hand from Sarah's grasp and grabbed Tye's hand before he inched any closer to Sarah. He seemed to be surprised at my action. I didn't care much about his reaction if I was being honest." Might I ask why you just tried to touch My Wife, Count Tye?" pull. Grip! He tried to remove my hand, but I just tightened my grip as I stared at him."
I believe it's only polite to greet the Highest-Ranked Nobles at a public event, Marquess Drake."" If you know that part of decorum and know who I am, I'd imagine you'd also know that Sarah relinquished her Title as Princess of Diablos when she Married me. Meaning she's become a Marchioness because she's Married to me. Which is the same Ranking that Anna, My 2nd Wife has as well. Yet you greet My Wife before me? I'm confused about how they teach Etiquette in Trapda.""
You seem to be confused about Etiquette in general from what I hear, Marquess Drake."" You seem to want to be punished for offending a Marquess, COUNT Tye."" Ah, pulling Rank, are we?"" Do you only care about Rank when you get to touch married women, Lord Tye?" At this point Lord Tye's hand most've started to hurt because he stood up as he looked at me. I followed his black eyes up as they continued to stare at him. He must be around 8 foot tall if I had to guess." Why not let go of my hand, Marquess Drake?""
Well, since you asked so nicely and completely ignored my question... I wonder if I should?" We seemed to have made it to a stalemate, Sarah and Anna were on my side and glaring at Count Tye. tug...
"?" Things seemed to be going towards a direction where we were going to be ruining the festivities, but that was before I felt a tug on the back of my coat. Release. I released Lord Tye from my grip. Seems my hand left an imprint on his skin. I've definitely gotten stronger since arriving here in Gaia. From what I understand, when I first arrived here, even restraining Count Tye would be way above my paygrade.
Now though, I think I've grown in confidence as well as strength with everything I've gone through so far. Both in real battle and training. turn.. glance.
"?" Besides my thoughts about fighting, I took my eyes off of Lord Tye and turn to see a Demon girl staring eye to eye with me. Her pale-blue skin and big glittering dark-blue eyes had a youthful energy to them. Her eyes would disappear periodically as she shifted side to side and her long brown hair would cover them due to the swaying." Who are you?"" Gasha! What are you doing!?" Count Gorse was confused. Apparently, the girl's name is Gasha." Daddy! This one looks so strange!
I've never seen a Demon like him before!" A big smile formed on the girl's face as a Demon boy walked up to the girl's side, his sharp green eyes seemed to be focused on me." Gasha, that's not a Demon, That's Marquess Drake. He's a Human."" A Human!?" The girl's eyes filled with shock, and she started to recoil from me." Gwaid! What are we going to do!? He's going to kidnap me!" The girl turned to the boy and began to ask some nonsensical questions." Gasha! Calm down! Marquess Drake isn't a slaver or a kidnapper!"
The boy began to calm down the girl." I can confirm, I don't partake in slaving or kidnapping. Are there rumors that I do that?" The boy looked at me as he grew tired of the girl's wistfulness to her new situation." No, it's just that we've heard stories from the other kids. Humans apparently would kidnap and torture us in the past."" Sounds rough. So, who are you two?"" I'm Gwaid Gorse. This is my younger sister, Gasha Gorse. You've been talking to our Dad for a while now... Or should I say Uncle Phil has?""
You definitely wouldn't be wrong. Did something happen to bring you to us? Or did you just want to see what the adults were talking about?"" More like we're bored. There's nothing to do and the food isn't here yet, Mom said we should go and check on Dad since we were bored."" And I didn't expect for your sister to try and gain the attention of Marquess Drake, Gwaid. Hello, Marquess Drake, Lady Sarah, Lady Anna. I am Diana Gorse, I'm the Wife of Gordon Gorse." A clear, mature voice came from behind the children.
I looked up to see a blue skinned Demon with 3 light-blue eyes and dark-blue hair that was styled with curls that came down to the woman's uncovered shoulders. She was dressed in a light-blue version of the same dress that Sarah and Anna were wearing. I guess it's safe to say that she has good taste? Just as I was wondering why these kids looked nothing like their father, their mother walked in front of me and showed whose genes were really passed down.
Looking back at Lord Gorse and then back to his wife, I suppose it was a good thing that they looked like their mother? I guess this whole conversation has gotten even more complicated, I mean, I've run into a man trying to hit on My Wife and now 2 kids and another wife have joined the fray. I stood up and thought about what I was going to say next.
