"What is this aura?" Long Feng was alarmed as he felt light headed from sensing this aura.
"This is a tiny fragment of master's memories that contain some of his battle experience and insight into the Firmament Sword art, and some other things which even I am unaware of. Although it is only a tiny portion of his memories, it is still extremely powerful and can even destroy your soul world. Focus your mind and assimilate this soul fragment!" The old man's voice sounded.
Before Long Feng could exclaim in shock, the soul rune shot into his forehead and appeared in the sky of his soul world, bringing with it a terrifying pressure. Long Feng quickly sat down cross legged and emptied his mind of all thoughts. The soul rune floated in his soul world, giving off a feeling that it was the heaven and Earth in this world; the ultimate Dao. Long Feng didn't panic as he stimulated all his soul power.
Luckily, the nine coloured sapling in the center of this world had helped him to heal his soul world and recover his soul power earlier, otherwise he wouldn't be able to do anything as his soul world was destroyed here. His soul power came pouring down on the soul rune, but the rune didn't budge. It was like an ant trying to bite an elephant to death. It was naturally impossible. But what if millions of ants were trying to bite an injured elephant to death? The results would not be easy to guess.
His soul power was like the millions of ants at this moment, as he continuously grinded down the injured elephant which was the soul rune without a master. This continued for an entire day! But his efforts were not completely useless, as the soul rune was beginning to weaken albeit slowly. Another day later, a crack silently appeared on the rune. Yet, it held on and didn't shatter until the third day. *Crack! The soul rune suddenly exploded into countless specks of light.
The scene inside Long Feng's soul world was like the sky was raining light, making for a spectacular scene. As the specks of light merged into his soul world, Long Feng's soul power silently grew stronger and impacted against the bottleneck separating him from the saint soul layer! Under this rain of divine light, the bottleneck was easily breached and Long Feng officially became a first saint layered soul master! But this wasn't the main use of the soul rune.
The moment it shattered, Long Feng's soul was pulled into a special space as he watched scenes happening before his eyes as though he was watching a movie. It took him a while to understand that these were the fragmented memories of the Firmament Sword Saint! In the memories, Long Feng saw a man standing in the sky with a divine sword in his right hand. This man had sharp facial features, long black hair draped over his shoulders and sharp eyes that seemed able to see through anything.
Surrounding this man was a very sharp aura. This aura was like a sword, able to pierce the sky and split the earth apart! Long Feng needed no one to tell him who this man was. The Firmament Sword Saint! Opposite the Firmament Sword Saint was a vast sea of dark energy. This dark energy was exactly the same as the one sealed by the demon sealing coffin, except that it was much more powerful. Everywhere this sea of dark energy passed, the vitality and life was rapidly drained.
Trees withered, beasts died and humans simply vanished. It was a very tragic scene. The Firmament Sword Saint slowly drew his sword from his sheath and took a step forward, appearing right before the sea of dark energy.
"Firmament Sword art; first strike, Infinite Firmament!" He spoke in an otherworldly tone as the sharp energy around him condensed into the sword in his grasp as he swung it at the dark energy sea. A sword lights containing profound mysteries streaked through the air, slicing everything in its path unstoppably as it seemed to cleave even the void apart. The world darkened as time seemed to freeze.
The sword lights cleanly sliced the sea of dark energy in two and even destroying several mountain ranges in its path before it vanished. This scene left Long Feng sucking in several mouthfuls of cold air! Such destructive power! For a moment, he felt as though the sword was pointed at him, even though it wasn't. That simple moment made him feel as though his life was no longer in his hands! This feeling was incomparably scary.
"Jejejeje! Firmament Sword Saint, you are too weak!" An eerie voice echoed in the world at this moment, as another figure slowly appeared after the sea of dark energy faded away. This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it This figure was a huge being, easily three times the size of a grown man with bulging muscles and chains hanging from it's chest. It was also wielding a large halberd dripping with fresh blood. The two figures stood in the sky facing each other.
"You... shouldn't exist here. This world doesn't belong to you!" The Firmament Sword Saint calmly said.
"Jejejeje! This world will soon be destroyed! Why must you struggle meaninglessly?" The other being replied with an eerie laugh.
"Then there is no need for words. Let's end this!" The Firmament Sword Saint calmly responded.
"Nine Firmament steps!" He took nine steps, appearing right above the huge figure.
"Earth Firmament!" He swung his sword, unleashing a terrifyingly powerful sword light. The huge figure lifted his halberd and clashed against the sword head on. The two figures immediately engaged in an earth shattering battle that shattered the void around them. This was a battle between two unfathomable existences; two powerhouses!
"Heaven Firmament!"
"Supporting the Firmament!"
"Breaking the Firmament!"
"Myriad Firmament!"
"Rage of the Firmament!"
"Firmament Shattering the World!" The Firmament Sword Saint used various sword skills from the Firmament Sword art, but none of them could inflict true damage to the huge figure. Long Feng was watching this battle in shock, while feeling that the Firmament Sword Saint didn't have much chance of winning.
Based on what Long Feng read in the Firmament Sword art, there was a total of seven sword skills and one movement technique in the sword art, and all of these had already been used by the Firmament Sword Saint, yet he was unable to gain any sort of advantage in the battle. In fact, he was in a precarious situation.
"Jejejeje! Firmament Sword Saint, it looks like your journey will end here!" The huge figure laughed as it pushed the sword saint back. The Firmament Sword Saint, covered in wounds backed away further and actually closed his eyes at this moment of life and death!
"Hmph! A wise choice!" The huge figure thought that the sword saint had surrendered, as he strode forward and lifted his halberd high. The Firmament Sword Saint's eyes suddenly shot open, gleaming with sharp sword energy as the sharp energy surrounding him suddenly tripled. He lifted his sword at a shocking speed and swung it before the huge figure could react. There was no destructive energy, nor any sort of phenomenon, only infinite mysteries.
The simple sword light was like a pillar connecting the heavens and the earth, silently slicing even space itself as a profound voice sounded.
"What is the Firmament? The heaven is merciless, and the world is unfair. The human life lasts but for the blink of an eye, but can the heaven and Earth ever come to an end? A sword in hand, I shatter the Firmament and reconstruct the heavens with an unfettered heart... Cycle of Firmament!" The sword light overwhelmed the huge figure as a blinding light erupted, temporarily blinding Long Feng's eyes. When he opened his eyes, the memory fragment had ended, yet Long Feng was unable to recover immediately.
What he just witnessed had shaken him to the core as he felt endless respect for the Firmament Sword Saint.
"It is true that the Firmament Sword art only has seven sword skills, but at the end of that battle, when all hope seemed lost, the firmament Sword Saint actually defied the heavens and formed a new sword skill, one with unfathomable depths; the cycle of firmament! And this skill isn't a part of the Firmament Sword art and can be said to be a single sword art on it's own! The Firmament Sword Saint was truly a genius!"
Moreover, after Long Feng searched his memories, he found out that the scene he just witnessed hadn't vanished and was engraved in his very soul! This means he could watch this battle scene again at any time, to perfect his own understanding of the sword art and he might even be able to comprehend the mysteries behind the final sword strike! This was equal to having the best teacher in the world to teach him the sword art!
"The old man was right. This is truly the most precious inheritance!" Long Feng muttered. He organized his thoughts and began to comprehend the firmament Sword art and using the memories of the sword saint as reference. His understanding of the sword art increased rapidly at a breakneck pace! Five days later, Long Feng slowly opened his eyes. A sharp light flashed in his black orbs as a wild aura erupted from his body. This aura was very sharp, like he was surrounded by countless swords around him.
This was the concept of the sword! Long Feng's sword concept which had barely reached the first level previously was currently at the fifth level! This speed of improvement was simply inconceivable, as even his demon concept was only at the third level! The sharp aura around him suddenly vanished, withdrawn into his body, demonstrating his precise control over his energies.
"I feel so powerful, I can't wait to find a good opponent and have a hearty battle!" He clenched his fist as he felt the great power coursing through his veins. He was really curious to see how powerful he was by relying only on his pure inner energy, and how powerful he would be once he used the Firmament Sword art.
He felt that even against a veteran spirit realm cultivator, as long as he hadn't reached the fourth spirit level, Long Feng would be able to protect himself and probably even win if he was lucky, though it would be challenging to kill the opponent.
"You succeeded. Good! This old master hadn't made the wrong judgement!" The old man's voice cut into Long Feng's thoughts. Long Feng hurriedly stood up and cupped his fist.
"This Junior will never forget the grace shown to him by senior." The old man laughed.
"There's no need to be so courteous. Besides, you have gotten master's inheritance, so you can be considered as my young master." Long Feng nodded.
"It's time for you to leave." The old man said. Long Feng lifted his brows at this.
"Earlier, you said that you have a way to send us out easily..."
"Naturally, I won't let you go out to face those shameless old things outside. You will not be able to protect yourself even if you were to somehow reach the Dao realm here. This formation covers the entire forest, and I am the very core of this formation. I can easily send you and your friends to any part of the forest in an instant, although it would drain some of the energy of the formation." the old man immediately replied. Long Feng sighed, feeling relieved that they wouldn't be in any more dangers.
It looked like the nightmare was coming to an end. He really couldn't wait to leave this damned forest. To hell with the Blue Sky Sect and their damned secret realm.
"I will send you all back to the region you came into this forest from. I suppose you should be safe then?" The old man asked. Long Feng nodded.
"Good. Let's not waste more time. Gather around, kids!" The old man immediately called out. Yan jian, Hua Liuli and Li Yue'er who were close by immediately gathered together with Long Feng as the old man once again made some handseals. A profound light covered the four youths who looked at this world with some reluctance and complicated emotions. They were finally leaving, at last!
"Remember, you must come back when you condense your Dao heart!" The old man reminded as their figures began to fade away. Slowly, they vanished from this world completely.
Outside the coffin, the two armies were still waiting around patiently for Long Feng to return. Of course by now, even the Yin monarchs were beginning to lose their patience. Right as they were about to snap… Suddenly, a faint disturbance spread through the surrounding ghost energy. The Yin monarchs and the eight human masters immediately rose to their feet in shock.
"Is that bastard finally coming out?" The burly yin monarch asked as excitement flickered in his eyes.
"Prepare for battle!" He ordered the Yin generals and soldiers behind. The human masters also began to prepare for the upcoming battle. Suddenly, the huge coffin began to glow as the runes on it flashed continuously. Blurry figures appeared above the coffin for a moment, before the figures vanished completely and the place returned to its tranquil state.
"What the hell just happened?" The burly Yin monarch couldn't calm down as he exclaimed. If he wasn't blind, one of the blurry figures that appeared on the coffin for a moment was that bastard brat! And he also recognized the little girl with unknown connection to the ancestor's coffin, and the other two kids whom he spotted within that kid's palace. What just happened then? Weren't they supposed to appear out here?
"Teleportation!" The white haired old man murmured with shock in his eyes. It appeared that this coffin was much more powerful than they imagined, even able to transport people away.
"Let's leave. There is no use staying here" Although he felt that it was a pity, he was also excited that this kid might no longer be in this forest. That would mean the Yin ghosts couldn't get him anymore and the humans were free to search for him and capture him at their own pace! He didn't believe that with the four dynasties actively searching together, they wouldn't be able to find a single kid. He waved his hand and turned to leave.
The whole human army slowly retreated, and the Yin ghosts didn't try to stop them. The burly Yin monarch stood still with a twisted expression, as he let out an enraged roar into the sky, frightening the Yin ghosts around him and even the other seven monarchs.
